Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
My Soul Thirsts for You
A Psalm of David. [a]When he was in the wilderness of Judah.
63 O God, (A)You are my God; I shall seek You [b]earnestly;
My soul (B)thirsts for You, my flesh [c]yearns for You,
In a (C)dry and weary land without water.
2 Thus I have (D)beheld You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
3 Because Your (E)lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips will laud You.
4 Thus I will bless You (F)as long as I live;
I will (G)lift up my hands in Your name.
5 My soul is (H)satisfied as with fatness and richness,
And my mouth offers (I)praises with lips of joyful songs.
6 When I remember You (J)on my bed,
I meditate on You in the (K)night watches,
7 For (L)You have been my help,
And in the (M)shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
8 My soul (N)clings [d]to You;
Your (O)right hand upholds me.
9 But those who (P)seek my [e]life to destroy it,
Will go into the [f](Q)depths of the earth.
10 [g]They will be (R)delivered over to the power of the sword;
They will be a (S)portion for foxes.
11 But the (T)king will be glad in God;
Everyone who (U)swears by Him will boast,
For the (V)mouths of those who speak lies will be closed.
9 (A)Call out this message among the nations:
(B)Set yourselves apart for a war; (C)rouse the mighty men!
Let all the men of war approach, let them come up!
10 (D)Beat your plowshares into swords
And your pruning hooks into spears;
(E)Let the weak say, “I am a mighty man.”
11 [a](F)Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations,
And gather yourselves.
There, bring down, O Yahweh, Your (G)mighty ones.
12 Let the nations be roused up
And come up to the (H)valley of [b]Jehoshaphat,
For there I will sit to (I)judge
All the surrounding nations.
13 (J)Send in the sickle, for the (K)harvest is ripe.
Come, [c](L)tread, for the (M)wine press is full;
The vats overflow, for their (N)evil is great.
14 (O)Multitudes, multitudes in the (P)valley of [d]decision!
For the (Q)day of Yahweh is near in the valley of [e]decision.
15 The (R)sun and moon grow dark,
And the stars lose their brightness.
16 And Yahweh (S)roars from Zion
And (T)gives forth His voice from Jerusalem,
And the (U)heavens and the earth quake.
But Yahweh is a (V)refuge for His people
And a (W)strong defense to the sons of Israel.
17 Then you will (X)know that I am Yahweh your God,
Dwelling in Zion, My (Y)holy mountain.
So Jerusalem will be (Z)holy,
And (AA)strangers will pass through it no more.
Yahweh Dwells in Zion
18 And it will be in that day,
That the (AB)mountains will drip with [f]sweet wine,
And the hills will (AC)flow with milk,
And all the (AD)brooks of Judah will flow with water;
And a (AE)spring will go out from the house of Yahweh
To water the valley of [g]Shittim.
19 Egypt will become a desolation,
And Edom will become a desolate wilderness,
Because of the (AF)violence [h]done to the sons of Judah,
In whose land they have shed innocent blood.
20 But Judah will be (AG)inhabited forever
And Jerusalem from generation to generation.
21 And I will (AH)avenge their blood which I have not avenged,
Indeed, Yahweh dwells in Zion.
The Coming of the Son of Man
29 “But immediately after the (A)tribulation of those days (B)the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and (C)the stars will fall from [a]the sky, and the powers of [b]the heavens will be shaken. 30 And then (D)the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see (E)the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. 31 And (F)He will send forth His angels with (G)a great trumpet and they will gather together His [c](H)elect from (I)the four winds, from one end of the sky to the [d]other.
The Parable of the Fig Tree
32 “Now learn the parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; 33 so, you too, when you see all these things, [e]recognize that [f]He is near, right (J)at the [g]door. 34 Truly I say to you, (K)this [h]generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35 (L)Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
