Psalm 96:1-9

Yahweh the King Comes in Judgment

96 Sing to[a] Yahweh a new song;
sing to[b] Yahweh, all the earth.
Sing to[c] Yahweh; bless his name.
Announce[d] his salvation from day to day.
Tell his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples.
For Yahweh is great and very worthy of praise;
he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols,[e]
but Yahweh made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
Ascribe to Yahweh, you families of the peoples,
ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.
Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come into his courts.
Worship Yahweh in holy array;
tremble before him, all the earth.

Psalm 96:10-13

10 Say among the nations, “Yahweh is king!
Yes, the world is established so that it will not be moved.
He will judge the peoples fairly.”
11 Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice.
Let the sea with[a] its fullness roar.
12 Let the field with[b] all that is in it exult.
Then all the trees of the forests will sing for joy
13 before Yahweh, for he is coming;
for he is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with his faithfulness.

Judges 17:1-6

Micah’s Idolatry

17 There was a man from the hill country of Ephraim; his name was Micah. And he said to his mother, “The eleven hundred pieces of silver that were taken from you, and about which you also pronounced a curse in my hearing,[a] are with me; I took it.” And his mother said, “Blessed be my son by Yahweh.” He returned the eleven hundred pieces[b] of silver to his mother, and his mother thought, “I will certainly consecrate to Yahweh the pieces[c] of silver from my hand for my son to make an idol of cast metal; now then, I will return them[d] to you.” When he returned the pieces[e] of silver to his mother, his mother took two hundred pieces[f] of silver, and she gave it to the smith, and he made it into an idol of cast metal; and it was in the house of Micah. The man Micah had for himself a shrine,[g] and he made an ephod and teraphim, and he appointed one of his sons[h] who became a priest for him. In those days there was no king in Israel, and each one did what was right in his own eyes.

3 John 9-12

Diotrephes Causes Trouble

I wrote something to the church, but Diotrephes, who wants to be first among them, does not acknowledge us. 10 Therefore, if I come, I will call attention to the deeds he is doing[a], disparaging us with evil words. And not being content with these, he does not receive the brothers himself, and he hinders those wanting to do so and throws them out of the church. 11 Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.

Demetrius Commended

12 Demetrius has been testified to by all, even by the truth itself. And we also testify to him, and you know that our testimony is true.
