Psalm 18:1-3

The Lord Praised for Giving Deliverance.

For the choir director. A Psalm of David the servant of the Lord, [a]who spoke to the Lord the words of this song in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said,

18 “I love You, O Lord, (A)my strength.”
The Lord is (B)my [b]rock and (C)my fortress and my (D)deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My (E)shield and the (F)horn of my salvation, my (G)stronghold.
I call upon the Lord, who is (H)worthy to be praised,
And I am (I)saved from my enemies.

Psalm 18:20-32

20 The Lord has (A)rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the (B)cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.
21 For I have (C)kept the ways of the Lord,
And have (D)not wickedly departed from my God.
22 For all (E)His ordinances were before me,
And I did not put away His (F)statutes from me.
23 I was also [a](G)blameless with Him,
And I (H)kept myself from my iniquity.
24 Therefore the Lord has (I)recompensed me according to my righteousness,
According to the cleanness of my hands in His eyes.

25 With (J)the kind You show Yourself kind;
With the [b]blameless (K)You show Yourself blameless;
26 With the pure You show Yourself (L)pure,
And with the crooked (M)You show Yourself [c]astute.
27 For You (N)save an afflicted people,
But (O)haughty eyes You abase.
28 For You (P)light my lamp;
The Lord my God (Q)illumines my darkness.
29 For by You I can [d](R)run upon a troop;
And by my God I can (S)leap over a wall.

30 As for God, His way is [e](T)blameless;
The (U)word of the Lord is tried;
He is a (V)shield to all who take refuge in Him.
31 For (W)who is God, but the Lord?
And who is a (X)rock, except our God,
32 The God who (Y)girds me with strength
And [f]makes my way [g](Z)blameless?

Isaiah 28:14-22

Judah Is Warned

14 Therefore, (A)hear the word of the Lord, O (B)scoffers,
Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem,
15 Because you have said, “We have made a (C)covenant with death,
And with [a]Sheol we have made a [b]pact.
(D)The overwhelming [c]scourge will not reach us when it passes by,
For we have made (E)falsehood our refuge and we have (F)concealed ourselves with deception.”

16 Therefore thus says the Lord [d]God,

(G)Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested (H)stone,
A costly cornerstone for the foundation, [e]firmly placed.
He who believes in it will not be [f]disturbed.
17 “I will make (I)justice the measuring line
And righteousness the level;
Then (J)hail will sweep away the refuge of lies
And the waters will overflow the secret place.
18 “Your (K)covenant with death will be [g](L)canceled,
And your pact with Sheol will not stand;
When the (M)overwhelming scourge passes through,
Then you become its (N)trampling place.
19 “As (O)often as it passes through, it will [h]seize you;
For (P)morning after morning it will pass through, anytime during the day or night,
And it will be [i]sheer (Q)terror to understand [j]what it means.”
20 The bed is too short on which to stretch out,
And the (R)blanket is too [k]small to wrap oneself in.
21 For the Lord will rise up as at Mount (S)Perazim,
He will be stirred up as in the valley of (T)Gibeon,
To do His (U)task, His [l](V)unusual task,
And to work His work, His [m]extraordinary work.
22 And now do not carry on as (W)scoffers,
Or your fetters will be made stronger;
For I have heard from the Lord [n]God of hosts
Of decisive (X)destruction on all the earth.

Matthew 26:6-13

The Precious Ointment

(A)Now when Jesus was in (B)Bethany, at the home of Simon the leper, (C)a woman came to Him with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at the table. But the disciples were indignant when they saw this, and said, “Why this waste? For this perfume might have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.” 10 But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you bother the woman? For she has done a good deed to Me. 11 For you always have (D)the poor with you; but you do not always have Me. 12 For when she poured this perfume on My body, she did it (E)to prepare Me for burial. 13 Truly I say to you, (F)wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.”
