1 Kings 3:5-12

(A)In Gibeon, Yahweh appeared to Solomon (B)in a dream at night; and God said, “(C)Ask what I should give to you.”

God Gives Wisdom to Solomon

Then Solomon said, “(D)You have shown great lovingkindness to Your slave David my father, (E)according to how he walked before You in [a]truth and righteousness and uprightness of heart toward You; and (F)You have kept for him this great lovingkindness, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. So now, O Yahweh my God, (G)You have made Your slave king in place of my father David, yet (H)I am but a little child; (I)I do not know how to go out or come in. (J)And Your slave is in the midst of Your people which You have chosen, (K)a numerous people who are too many to be numbered or counted. So (L)give Your slave a listening heart to judge Your people (M)to discern between good and evil. For who is able to [b]judge this glorious people of Yours?”

10 [c]And it was pleasing in the sight of the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing and have (N)not asked for yourself [d]long life, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself discernment to listen to justice, 12 behold, (O)I have done according to your words. Behold, (P)I have given you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, nor shall one like you arise after you.

Psalm 119:129-136

Pe

129 Your testimonies are (A)wonderful;
Therefore my soul (B)observes them.
130 The (C)unfolding of Your words gives light;
It gives (D)understanding to the simple.
131 I (E)opened my mouth wide and (F)panted,
For I (G)longed for Your commandments.
132 (H)Turn to me and be gracious to me,
According to Your judgment [a]for those who love Your name.
133 Establish my (I)steps in Your [b]word,
And do not let any wickedness (J)overpower me.
134 (K)Redeem me from the oppression of man,
That I may keep Your precepts.
135 (L)Make Your face shine upon Your slave,
And (M)teach me Your statutes.
136 My eyes [c]shed (N)streams of water,
Because they (O)do not keep Your law.

Romans 8:26-39

26 And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness, for (A)we do not know how to pray as we should, but (B)the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27 and (C)He who searches the hearts knows what (D)the mind of the Spirit is, because He (E)intercedes for the [a]saints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that for those who love God [b](F)all things work together for good, for those who are (G)called according to His purpose. 29 Because those whom He (H)foreknew, He also (I)predestined to become (J)conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the (K)firstborn among many brothers; 30 and those whom He (L)predestined, He also (M)called; and those whom He called, He also (N)justified; and those whom He justified, He also (O)glorified.

God Is for Us

31 (P)What then shall we say to these things? (Q)If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who indeed (R)did not spare His own Son, but (S)delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring a charge against (T)God’s elect? (U)God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who (V)condemns? Christ Jesus is He who (W)died, yes, rather who was [c](X)raised, who is (Y)at the right hand of God, who also (Z)intercedes for us. 35 Who will separate us from (AA)the love of [d]Christ? Will (AB)affliction, or turmoil, or (AC)persecution, or (AD)famine, or (AE)nakedness, or (AF)peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written,

(AG)For Your sake we are being put to death all day long;
We were counted as sheep for the slaughter.”

37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly (AH)conquer through (AI)Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither (AJ)death, nor life, nor (AK)angels, nor rulers, nor (AL)things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from (AM)the love of God, which is (AN)in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 13:31-33

Parables of the Mustard Seed and Leaven

31 He presented another parable to them, saying, (A)The kingdom of heaven is like (B)a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; 32 and this is the [a]smallest of all seeds, but when it is fully grown, it is the [b]largest of the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that (C)the birds of the [c]air come and nest in its branches.”

33 He spoke another parable to them, (D)The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in [d](E)three sata of flour until it was all leavened.”

Matthew 13:44-52

A Hidden Treasure

44 (A)The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and (B)sells all that he has and buys that field.

A Costly Pearl

45 “Again, (C)the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, 46 and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.

A Dragnet

47 “Again, (D)the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea, and gathering fish of every kind; 48 and when it was filled, they drew it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away. 49 So it will be at (E)the [a]end of the age; the angels will come forth and [b]take out the wicked from among the righteous, 50 and (F)will throw them into the fiery furnace; in that place (G)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

51 “Have you understood all these things?” They *said to Him, “Yes.” 52 And He said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”
