Psalm 119:161-168

Sin/Shin

161 (A)Princes persecute me without cause,
But my heart (B)is in dread of Your words.
162 I (C)rejoice at Your [a]word,
As one who (D)finds much spoil.
163 I (E)hate and abhor lying,
But I (F)love Your law.
164 Seven times a day I praise You,
Because of Your (G)righteous judgments.
165 Those who love Your law have (H)much peace,
And [b](I)nothing causes them to stumble.
166 I (J)hope for Your salvation, O Yahweh,
And I do Your commandments.
167 My (K)soul keeps Your testimonies,
And I (L)love them exceedingly.
168 I (M)keep Your precepts and Your testimonies,
For all my (N)ways are before You.

Jeremiah 18:1-11

The Potter and the Clay

18 The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh saying, “Arise and (A)go down to the potter’s house, and there I will make you hear My words.” Then I went down to the potter’s house, and behold, he was making something on the [a]wheel. But the vessel that he was making of clay was ruined in the hand of the potter, so he turned around and made it into another vessel, according to what was right in the eyes of the potter to make.

Then the word of Yahweh came to me saying, “Can I not, O house of Israel, deal with you as this potter does?” declares Yahweh. “Behold, like the (B)clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel. At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to (C)uproot, to tear down, or to make it perish; (D)but if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will [b](E)relent concerning the calamity I planned to do against it. Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to (F)build up or to plant it; 10 but if it does (G)evil in My sight by not listening to My voice, then I will [c](H)relent concerning the good which I promised, to do good to it. 11 So now then, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I am (I)forming calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh (J)turn back, each of you from his evil way, and do good in your ways and your deeds.”’

Matthew 11:20-24

Woe to Unrepentant Cities

20 Then He began to denounce the cities in which most of His [a](A)miracles were done, because they did not repent. 21 (B)Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, (C)Bethsaida! For if the [b]miracles had occurred in (D)Tyre and (E)Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in [c](F)sackcloth and ashes. 22 Nevertheless I say to you, (G)it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in (H)the day of judgment than for you. 23 And (I)Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will (J)descend to (K)Hades; for if the [d]miracles had occurred in (L)Sodom which occurred in you, it would have remained to this day. 24 Nevertheless I say to you that (M)it will be more tolerable for the land of (N)Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.”
