Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
God Sustains His Servant.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
40 I (A)waited [a]patiently for the Lord;
And He inclined to me and (B)heard my cry.
2 He brought me up out of the (C)pit of destruction, out of the [b]miry clay,
And (D)He set my feet upon a rock (E)making my footsteps firm.
3 He put a (F)new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will (G)see and fear
And will trust in the Lord.
4 How (H)blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust,
And (I)has not [c]turned to the proud, nor to those who (J)lapse into falsehood.
5 Many, O Lord my God, are (K)the wonders which You have done,
And Your (L)thoughts toward us;
There is none to compare with You.
If I would declare and speak of them,
They (M)would be too numerous to count.
25 ‘(A)Now if a woman has a discharge of her blood many days, not at the period of her menstrual impurity, or if she has a discharge beyond [a]that period, all the days of her impure discharge she shall continue as though [b]in her menstrual impurity; she is unclean. 26 Any bed on which she lies all the days of her discharge shall be to her like [c]her bed at menstruation; and every thing on which she sits shall be unclean, like [d]her uncleanness at that time. 27 Likewise, whoever touches them shall be unclean and shall wash his clothes and bathe in water and be unclean until evening. 28 When she becomes clean from her discharge, she shall count off for herself seven days; and afterward she will be clean. 29 Then on the eighth day she shall take for herself two turtledoves or two young pigeons and bring them in to the priest, to the doorway of the tent of meeting. 30 The priest shall offer the (B)one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. So the priest shall make atonement on her behalf before the Lord because of her impure discharge.’
31 “Thus you shall keep the sons of Israel separated from their uncleanness, so that they will not die in their uncleanness by their (C)defiling My [e]tabernacle that is among them.”
Sundry Rules for Priests
22 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Tell Aaron and his sons to be careful with the holy gifts of the sons of Israel, which they dedicate to Me, so as not to profane My holy name; I am the Lord. 3 Say to them, ‘(A)If any man among all your [a]descendants throughout your generations approaches the holy gifts which the sons of Israel dedicate to the Lord, while he has an uncleanness, that person shall be cut off from before Me; I am the Lord. 4 (B)No man of the [b]descendants of Aaron, who is a leper or who has a discharge, may eat of the holy gifts until he is clean. (C)And if one touches anything made unclean by a corpse or if (D)a man has a seminal emission, 5 or (E)if a man touches any teeming things by which he is made unclean, or any man by whom he is made unclean, whatever his uncleanness; 6 a [c]person who touches any such shall be unclean until evening, and shall not eat of the holy gifts unless he has bathed his [d]body in water. 7 But when the sun sets, he will be clean, and afterward he shall eat of the holy gifts, for (F)it is his [e]food. 8 He shall not eat (G)an animal which dies or is torn by beasts, becoming unclean by it; I am the Lord. 9 They shall therefore keep (H)My charge, so that (I)they will not bear sin because of it and die thereby because they profane it; I am the Lord who sanctifies them.
14 (A)Do not be [a]bound together with (B)unbelievers; for what (C)partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15 Or what (D)harmony has Christ with [b]Belial, or [c]what has a (E)believer in common with an (F)unbeliever? 16 Or (G)what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are (H)the temple of (I)the living God; just as God said,
“(J)I will (K)dwell in them and (L)walk among them;
And I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
17 “(M)Therefore, (N)come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord.
“And do not touch what is unclean;
And I will welcome you.
18 “(O)And I will be a father to you,
And you shall be (P)sons and daughters to Me,”
Says the Lord Almighty.
Paul Reveals His Heart
7 Therefore, having these promises, (Q)beloved, (R)let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2 (S)Make room for us in your hearts; we wronged no one, we corrupted no one, we took advantage of no one.
