Psalm 23

23 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me to rest in green pasture and leads me by the still waters.

He restores my soul and leads me in the paths of righteousness, for His Name’s sake.

Indeed, though I should walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the sight of my adversaries. You anoint my head with oil; and my cup runs over.

Doubtless, kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I shall remain in the House of the LORD forever. A Psalm of David.

1 Samuel 15:22-31

22 And Samuel said, “Has the LORD as great a pleasure in Burnt Offerings and Sacrifices as when the Voice of the LORD is obeyed? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen is better than the fat of rams.

23 “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft; and transgression is wickedness and idolatry. Because you have cast away the Word of the LORD, therefore He has cast away you from being king.”

24 Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned. For I have transgressed the Commandment of the LORD, and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.

25 “Now, therefore, please take away my sin and turn back with me, so that I may worship the LORD.”

26 But Samuel said to Saul, “I will not return with you. For you have cast away the Word of the LORD, and the LORD has cast away you, so that you shall not be king over Israel.”

27 And as Samuel turned himself to go away, he caught the lap of his coat, and it tore.

28 Then Samuel said to him, “The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you this day, and has given it to your neighbor who is better than you.

29 “For indeed the Strength of Israel will neither lie nor repent. For He is not a man that He should repent.”

30 Then he said, “I have sinned. But, please honor me before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn back with me, so that I may worship the LORD your God.

31 So, Samuel turned back and followed Saul. And Saul worshipped the LORD.

Ephesians 5:1-9

Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children.

And walk in love, just as Christ has loved us and has given Himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice of a sweet-smelling savor to God.

But do not let fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness even be named among you (as is also becoming to saints),

nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse joking (which are not fitting); but rather the giving of thanks.

For this you know: that no fornicator, nor impure or covetous person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ, and of God.

Let no one deceive you with empty words. For the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience.

Therefore, do not be companions with them.

For you were once darkness but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

For the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,
