1 Samuel 2:1-10

And Hannah prayed, and said, “My heart rejoices in the LORD. My horn is exalted in the LORD. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies because I rejoice in Your salvation.

“There is none as Holy as the LORD. Yea, there is none besides You; and there is no god like our God.

“No longer speak so exceedingly proudly. Do let not arrogancy come out of your mouth. For the LORD is a God of knowledge; and by Him enterprises are established.

“The bow and the mighty men are broken; and the weak have girded themselves with strength.

“Those who were full are now hired for bread, yet the hungry are no more. Even the barren has borne seven; and she who had many children is now feeble.

“The LORD kills and makes alive, brings down to the grave and raises up.

“The LORD makes poor and makes rich, brings low and exalts.

“He raises up the poor from the dust and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set among princes and to make them inherit the seat of glory. For the pillars of the Earth are the LORD’s, and he has set the world upon them.

“He will keep the feet of His saints; and the wicked shall keep silence in darkness. For in might shall no man be strong.

10 “The LORD’s adversaries shall be destroyed, and out of Heaven shall He thunder upon them. The LORD shall judge the ends of the world, and shall give power to His King, and exalt the horn of His Anointed.”

Genesis 17:15-22

15 Afterward, God said to Abraham, “Sarai, your wife, you shall not call ‘Sarai’; but ‘Sarah’ shall be her name.

16 “And I will bless her and will also give you a son by her. Indeed, I will bless her; and she shall be the mother of nations. Kings of people shall come from her.”

17 Then, Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to him who is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?”

18 And Abraham said to God, “Oh, that Ishmael might live in Your sight.”

19 Then God said, “Sarah, your wife, shall indeed bear you a son. And you shall call his name ‘Isaac’; and I will establish My Covenant with him and with his seed after him, for an everlasting Covenant.

20 “And concerning Ishmael, I have heard you. Lo, I have blessed him and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall beget twelve princes; and I will make a great nation from him.

21 “But I will establish My Covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you next year at this season.”

22 And he ceased talking with him; and God went up from Abraham.

Galatians 4:8-20

But even then, when you did not know God, you were enslaved by those who, by nature, are not gods.

But now, seeing you know God - indeed, rather, are known by God - how can you turn again to weak and poor principals; so that, as before, you will be in bondage again?

10 You observe days and months and times and years.

11 I am in fear for you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain.

12 Be as me, brothers, I beg you (for I am also like you). You have not hurt me at all.

13 And you know how through weakness of the flesh I preached the Gospel to you at first.

14 And your trial from me (which was in my flesh) you neither despised nor abhorred. But you received me as an angel of God; indeed, as Christ Jesus.

15 Where then is your felicity? For I bear witness that if it had been possible, you would have plucked out your own eyes and have given them to me.

16 Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?

17 They are wrongly jealous for you. Yea, they would separate you from us, so that you would be jealous for them.

18 But it is a good thing to always love earnestly in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you,

19 my little children with whom I travail in birth again, until Christ is formed in you.

20 And I would that I were with you now, so I might change my voice. For I am in doubt of you.
