Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
10 Hear the word of Adonai,
you rulers of Sodom!
Give ear to the Torah of our God,
you people of Gomorrah!
Worthless Offerings
11 “For what is it to Me—the multitude of your sacrifices?”
says Adonai.
“I am full of burnt offerings of rams
and fat of fed animals.
I have no delight in the blood of bulls,
or of lambs or he-goats.
12 When you come to appear before Me,
who has required this at your hand—
trampling My courts?
13 Bring no more worthless offerings!
Incense is an abomination to Me.
New Moon and Shabbat, the calling of convocations
—I cannot endure it—
iniquity with solemn assembly.
14 Your New Moons and your Festivals
My soul hates!
They are a burden to Me.
I am weary to bear them.
15 When you spread out your hands,
I will hide My eyes from you.
When you multiply prayers,
I will not hear.
Your hands are full of blood!”
Scarlet Sins as Snow
16 “Wash and make yourselves clean.
Put away the evil of your deeds
from before My eyes.
Cease to do evil.
17 Learn to do good,
seek justice, relieve the oppressed,
defend the orphan,
plead for the widow.”
18 “Come now, let us reason together,”
says Adonai.
“Though your sins be like scarlet,
they will be as white as snow.
Though they be red like crimson,
they will become like wool.
Confess, Return and Learn
Psalm 32
1 Of David, a contemplative song.
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is pardoned.
2 Blessed is the one whose guilt Adonai does not count,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.[a]
3 When I kept silent,
my bones became brittle
through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me.
My strength was drained as in the droughts of summer.
Selah
5 Then I acknowledged my sin to You
and did not hide my iniquity. I said:
“I confess my transgressions to Adonai,”
and You forgave the guilt of my sin.[b]
Selah
6 So let everyone who is godly pray to You
in a time when You may be found.
When great floodwaters rise,
they will not reach him.
7 You are my hiding place—
You will protect me from distress.
You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah
Greetings
1 Paul, Silvanus,[a] and Timothy,
To the community of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah:
2 Grace to you and shalom from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah!
Troubles From an Eternal Perspective
3 We ought to always thank God for you, brothers and sisters, as is appropriate, because your faithfulness grows wonderfully, and the love of each one of you for one another continually increases. 4 Therefore, we ourselves boast of you among the communities of God—about your perseverance and faithfulness through all the persecutions and troubles that you endure.
11 With this in mind, we pray for you constantly, that our God may consider you worthy of the calling and fulfill with power every good desire and work of faith, 12 so the name of our Lord Yeshua may be glorified in you, and you in Him, in keeping with the grace of our God and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
Visiting Zacchaeus in Jericho
19 Now Yeshua entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And here was a man by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 Zacchaeus was trying to see who Yeshua was, but he couldn’t because of the crowd, for he was short in height. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Yeshua, for He was about to pass through that way.
5 When Yeshua came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.”
6 Zacchaeus hurried and came down and welcomed Him joyfully.
7 But when everyone saw it, they began to grumble, saying, “Yeshua has gone to be the guest of a sinner!”
8 But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord. “Look, Master, half of my possessions I give to the poor, and if I have somehow cheated anyone, I repay four times as much!”[a]
9 Then Yeshua said to him, “Today salvation has come to this home, because he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
