Psalm 119:65-72

Teth

65 You have dealt well with Your slave,
O Yahweh, according to Your word.
66 Teach me good [a](A)discernment and knowledge,
For I believe in Your commandments.
67 (B)Before I was afflicted I went astray,
But now I keep Your word.
68 You are (C)good and (D)do good;
(E)Teach me Your statutes.
69 The arrogant have (F)smeared me with lying;
With all my heart I will (G)observe Your precepts.
70 Their heart is [b](H)covered with fat,
But I (I)delight in Your law.
71 It is (J)good for me that I was afflicted,
That I may learn Your statutes.
72 The (K)law of Your mouth is better to me
Than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

2 Chronicles 12:1-12

Shishak of Egypt Comes Against Judah

12 (A)Now it happened that when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established and strong, (B)he and all Israel with him forsook the law of Yahweh. (C)Now it happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, because they had been unfaithful to Yahweh, that (D)Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem with 1,200 chariots and 60,000 horsemen. And the people who came with him from Egypt were without number: (E)the Lubim, the Sukkiim and the Ethiopians. And he captured (F)the fortified cities of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem. Now (G)Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and the princes of Judah who had gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and he said to them, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘(H)You have forsaken Me, so I also have forsaken you [a]to Shishak.’” So the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “(I)Yahweh is righteous.”

When Yahweh saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah, saying, “(J)They have humbled themselves so I will not bring them to ruin, but I will grant them some measure of escape, and (K)My wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak. But they will become his slaves so (L)that they may know the difference between My slavery and the slavery of the kingdoms of the countries.”

Shishak Takes from Yahweh’s House

(M)So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took the treasures of the house of Yahweh and the treasures of the king’s house. He took everything; (N)he even took the shields of gold which Solomon had made. 10 Then King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place and committed them to the hand of the commanders of the [b]guard who kept the door of the king’s house. 11 Now it happened that as often as the king entered the house of Yahweh, the [c]guards would come and carry them and then bring them back into the [d]guards’ room. 12 And (O)when he humbled himself, the anger of Yahweh turned away from him, so as not to ruin him completely; and also conditions (P)were good in Judah.

Hebrews 13:7-21

Remember your (A)leaders, who spoke (B)the word of God to you; and considering the [a]result of their conduct, (C)imitate their faith. (D)Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (E)Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to (F)be strengthened by grace, not by (G)foods, (H)through which those who [b]were so occupied were not benefited. 10 We have an altar (I)from which those (J)who serve the tabernacle have no authority to eat. 11 For (K)the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. 12 Therefore Jesus also, (L)that He might sanctify the people (M)through His own blood, suffered (N)outside the gate. 13 So, let us go out to Him outside the camp, (O)bearing His reproach. 14 For here (P)we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking (Q)the one to come. 15 (R)Through Him then, let us continually offer up a (S)sacrifice of praise to God, that is, (T)the fruit of lips that confess His name. 16 And do not neglect doing good and (U)sharing, for (V)with such sacrifices God is pleased.

17 (W)Obey your leaders and submit to them—for (X)they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account—so that they will do this with joy and not with groaning, for this would be unprofitable for you.

18 (Y)Pray for us, for we are convinced that we have a (Z)good conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves well in all things. 19 And I urge you all the more to do this, (AA)so that I may be restored to you the sooner.

Benediction

20 Now (AB)the God of peace, who (AC)brought up from the dead the (AD)great Shepherd of the sheep [c]through (AE)the blood of the (AF)eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus, 21 (AG)equip you in every good thing to do His will, by (AH)doing in us (AI)what is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, (AJ)to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
