8 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth, who hast set Thy glory above the heavens!

² Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou ordained strength because of Thine enemies, that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

³ When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars which Thou hast ordained,

⁴ what is man that Thou art mindful of him, and the son of man that Thou dost visit him?

⁵ For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.

⁶ Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet,

⁷ all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field,

⁸ the fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

⁹ O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth!

¹⁹ The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath He established the heavens;

²⁰ by His knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

²¹ My son, let not these depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion;

²² so shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace around thy neck.

²³ Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble;

²⁴ when thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid; yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

²⁵ Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked when it cometh;

²⁶ for the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being snared.

4 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

² with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love,

³ endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

⁴ There is one body and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

⁵ one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

⁶ one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
