Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)

9 Wisdom has built her house; hewn out her seven pillars.

² She has killed her victuals, drawn her wine, and prepared her table.

³ She has sent forth her maidens; cries upon the highest places of the city, saying,

⁴ “Whoever is simple, let him come here.” To whomever is destitute of wisdom, she says,

⁵ “Come, eat of my food and drink of the wine I have drawn.

⁶ “Forsake foolishness and you shall live, and walk in the way of understanding.

⁹ Fear the LORD, you, His saints. For those who fear Him lack nothing.

¹⁰ The lions lack and suffer hunger. But those who seek the LORD shall lack nothing that is good.

¹¹ Come children, hear me. I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

¹² What man is he who desires life and loves long days to see good?

¹³ Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips, so that they speak no deceit.

¹⁴ Turn from evil and do good. Seek peace and follow after it.

¹⁵ Be mindful, therefore, that you walk carefully - not as fools, but as wise -

¹⁶ redeeming the season. For the days are evil.

¹⁷ Therefore, be not unwise. But, understand what the will of the Lord is.

¹⁸ And do not be drunk with wine (wherein is wastefulness). But, be filled with the Spirit,

¹⁹ speaking to yourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts,

²⁰ giving thanks always, for all things, to God, even the Father, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁵¹ “I am the living bread which came down from Heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever. And the bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

⁵² Then the Jews argued among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”

⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His blood, you have no life in you.

⁵⁴ “Whoever eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, has eternal life. And I will raise him up at the last day.

⁵⁵ “For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.

⁵⁶ “the one who eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, dwells in Me, and I in him.

⁵⁷ “As the living Father has sent Me, so I live by the Father. And the one who feeds on Me, shall also live because of Me.

⁵⁸ “This is the bread which came down from Heaven; not as your fathers have eaten Manna and are dead. The one who eats of this bread, shall live forever.”
