Psalm 100

A psalm of thanksgiving

Give Thanks to the Lord

100 Shout to the Lord all the earth!
Serve the Lord with joy.
Come before him with a joyful shout!
Acknowledge that the Lord is God.
    He made us and we belong to him;
we are his people
and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
    and his courts with praise.
Thank him and bless his name,
for the Lord is good
and his gracious love stands forever.
His faithfulness remains from generation to generation.

Jeremiah 50:1-7

Prophecies against Babylon

50 This is[a] the message that the Lord spoke through the prophet Jeremiah about Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans.

“Declare and proclaim among the nations.
Lift up a banner and proclaim.
Don’t conceal anything.[b]
    Say, ‘Babylon will be captured.
Bel[c] will be disgraced,
    and Marduk will be destroyed.
Her idols will be disgraced,
and her filthy images will be destroyed.’
For a nation from the north will go up against her.
It will make her land into an object of horror,
and no one will live in it.
Both people and animals will wander off,
    and they’ll leave.
In those days, and at that time,”
    declares the Lord,
“the people of Israel will come together
    with the people of Judah.
They’ll be weeping as they travel along,
and they’ll be seeking the Lord their God.
They’ll ask the way to Zion,
turning their faces in that direction.
They’ll come[d] and join themselves to the Lord
in an everlasting covenant that won’t be forgotten.
My people have become lost sheep.
Their shepherds have led them astray,
        turning them toward the mountains.
They go from mountain to hill.
They have forgotten their resting place.
All who find them devour them,
but their enemies say, ‘We’re not guilty,
because they have sinned against
the Lord, the habitation of righteousness,
the Lord, the hope of their ancestors.’

Hebrews 13:17-25

17 Continue to follow and be submissive to your leaders, since they are watching over your souls as those who will have to give a word of explanation. By doing this, you will be letting them carry out their duties joyfully, and not with grief, for that would be harmful for you.

18 Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way. 19 I especially ask you to do this so that I may be brought back to you sooner.

20 Now may the God of peace, who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good[a] to do his will, accomplishing in us[b] what pleases him through Jesus, the Messiah.[c] To him be glory forever and ever![d] Amen.

Final Greeting

22 I urge you, brothers, to listen patiently to my encouraging message,[e] for I have written you a short letter.[f] 23 You should know that our brother Timothy has been set free. If he comes soon, he will be with me when I see you.

24 Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who are from Italy greet you.

25 May grace be with all of you![g]
