Version
Ezekiel 17:22-24

22 Thus says the Lord:

I myself will break off a tender shoot
    from the highest branch of a tall cedar
    and plant it on a high and lofty mountain.
23 On the highest mountain in Israel I will plant it
    so that it may put forth branches and bear fruit
    and become a majestic cedar.
Birds of every kind will live beneath it;
    in the shelter of its branches
    winged creatures of every kind will dwell.
24 All the trees of the countryside will know
    that I am the Lord.
I will bring low the tall tree
    and raise high the lowly tree.
I cause the green tree to wither
    and make the shriveled tree bear fruit.
I, the Lord, have spoken;
    so will I do.

Psalm 92:1-4

Psalm 92[a]

Praise of God’s Just Rule

A psalm. A song. For the Sabbath.[b]

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
    to sing praise to your name,[c] O Most High,
to proclaim your kindness[d] in the morning
    and your faithfulness during the night,
with the ten-stringed harp,
    to the melody of the lyre.

Psalm 92:12-15

12 My eyes have witnessed the downfall of my enemies;
    my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.
13 [a]The righteous will flourish like the palm tree;
    they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon.
14 They are planted in the house of the Lord[b]
    and will flourish in the courts of our God.
15 They still will bear fruit, in their old age,
    and they will remain fresh and green,

2 Corinthians 5:6-10

Therefore, we are always confident, even though we realize that as long as we are at home in the body, we are exiles from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yet we are filled with confidence, even as we long to be exiled from the body and be at home with the Lord.

For this reason, whether at home or away, we strive to please him. 10 For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive suitable recompense for his conduct in the body, whether good or bad.

2 Corinthians 5:11-13

11 Well Known to God. And so, with this fear of the Lord always foremost in our thoughts, we try to persuade others. We ourselves are well known to God, and I hope we are also well known to your consciences. 12 We are not once again commending ourselves to you, but we are rather affording you an opportunity to boast about us. Then you will have an answer to those who boast of external appearances and not the heart. 13 If, indeed, we are out of our minds, it is for God; if we are rational, it is for your sake.

2 Corinthians 5:14-17

14 The Ministry of Reconciliation. For the love of Christ urges us forward, once we conclude that one has died for all, and therefore all have died. 15 And he died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves, but for him who for their sakes died and was raised to life.

16 Therefore, from now on we will not regard anyone according to human standards. Even though we once judged Christ from a human point of view,[a] we no longer do so. 17 Consequently, anyone united to Christ is a new creation. The old order has passed away. Behold, all has become new.

Mark 4:26-34

26 The Parable of the Secretly Growing Seed.[a] He went on to say, “The kingdom of God is like this. A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 Night and day, while he sleeps and while he is awake, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not understand how. 28 The ground produces fruit of its own accord—first the shoot, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. 29 And when the crop is ripe, he immediately stretches out the sickle, because the time for harvest has come.”

30 The Parable of the Mustard Seed.[b] He then said, “With what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use to explain it? 31 It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. 32 But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the greatest of all plants, and it puts forth large branches so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.”

33 The Usefulness of Parables.[c] With many such parables as these he spoke the word to them so far as they were able to comprehend it. 34 He never spoke to them except in parables, but he explained everything to his disciples when they were by themselves.
