Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
51 1 To trust in God alone by Abraham’s example. 7 Not to fear men. 17 The great affliction of Jerusalem, 22 and her deliverance.
1 Hear me [a]ye that follow after righteousness, and ye that seek the Lord: look unto the [b]rock, whence you are hewn, and to the hole of the pit, whence ye are dug.
2 Consider Abraham your father, and Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him and increased him.
3 Surely the Lord shall comfort Zion: he shall comfort all her desolations, and he shall make her desert [c]like Eden, and her wilderness like the garden of the Lord: joy and gladness shall be found therein: praise, and the voice of singing.
4 Hearken ye unto me my people, and give ear unto me, O my people: for a [d]Law shall proceed from me, and I will bring forth my judgment for the light of the people.
5 My [e]righteousness is near: my salvation goeth forth, and mine [f]arm shall judge the people: the isles shall wait for me, and shall trust unto mine arm.
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the [g]heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein, shall perish in like manner: but my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
138 1 David with great courage praiseth the goodness of God toward him, the which is so great, 4 That it is known to foreign princes, who shall praise the Lord together with him. 6 And he is assured to have the like comfort of God in the time following, as he had heretofore.
A Psalm of David.
1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: even before the [a]gods will I praise thee.
2 I will worship toward thine holy [b]Temple and praise thy Name, because of thy loving-kindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy Name above all things by thy word.
3 When I called, then thou heardest me, and hast [c]increased strength in my soul.
4 All the [d]kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord: for they have heard the words of thy mouth.
5 And they shall sing of the ways of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord is great.
6 For the Lord is high, yet he beholdeth the lowly, but the proud he knoweth [e]afar off.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, yet wilt thou revive me: thou wilt stretch forth thine hand upon the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
8 The Lord will [f]perform his work toward me: O Lord, thy mercy endureth forever: forsake not the works of thine hands.
12 1 He exhorteth 2 to that worship which is acceptable to God, 9 to love unfained, 14, 20 even towards our enemies.
1 I Beseech [a]you therefore brethren, [b]by the mercies of God, that ye [c]give up your [d]bodies a [e]living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your [f]reasonable serving of God.
2 [g]And fashion not yourselves like unto this world, but be ye changed by the renewing of your [h]mind, that ye may (A)prove what that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God is.
3 [i]For I [j]say through the grace that is given unto me, to everyone that is among you, that no man [k]presume to understand above that which is meet to understand, but that he understand according to [l]sobriety, as God hath dealt to every man the (B)measure of [m]faith.
4 [n]For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not one office,
5 So we being many, are one body in Christ, and every one, one anothers members.
6 (C)[o]Seeing then that we have gifts that are divers, according to the grace that is given unto us, whether we have prophecy, let us prophesy according to the [p]portion of faith.
7 Or an office, let us wait on the office: or he that [q]teacheth, on teaching:
8 Or he that [r]exhorteth, on exhortation: he that [s]distributeth, let him do it (D)with simplicity: he that [t]ruleth, with diligence: he that [u]showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.
13 ¶ (A)[a]Now when Jesus came into the coasts of [b]Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I, the son of man, am?
14 And they said, Some say, [c]John Baptist: and some, Elijah: and others, Jeremiah, or one of the Prophets.
15 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 Then Simon Peter answered, and said, (B)Thou art that Christ, the son of the living God.
17 [d]And Jesus answered, and said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon, the son of Jonah: for [e]flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 [f]And I say also unto thee, that thou art (C)[g]Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church: and the [h]gates of hell shall not overcome it.
19 [i]And I (D) will give unto thee the [j]keys of the Kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt [k]bind upon earth, shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven.
20 [l]Then he charged his disciples, that they should tell no man that he was Jesus that Christ.
