Psalm 2

The Reign of Yahweh’s Anointed

Why do (A)the [a]nations rage
And the peoples (B)meditate on a vain thing?
The (C)kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers take counsel together
(D)Against Yahweh and against His [b](E)Anointed, saying,
“Let us (F)tear their fetters apart
And cast away their cords from us!”

He who [c]sits in the heavens (G)laughs,
The Lord (H)mocks them.
Then He speaks to them in His (I)anger
And (J)terrifies them in His fury, saying,
“But as for Me, I have [d]installed (K)My King
Upon Zion, (L)My holy mountain.”

“I will surely tell of the [e]decree of Yahweh:
He said to Me, ‘You are (M)My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and (N)I will surely give (O)the [f]nations as Your inheritance,
And the (P)ends of the earth as Your possession.
You shall [g](Q)break them with a [h]rod of iron,
You shall (R)shatter them like a potter’s vessel.’”

10 So now, O kings, (S)show insight;
Take warning, O [i]judges of the earth.
11 Serve Yahweh with (T)fear
And rejoice with (U)trembling.
12 [j]Kiss (V)the Son, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way,
For (W)His [k]wrath may [l]soon be kindled.
How blessed are all who (X)take refuge in Him!

Exodus 6:2-9

God spoke further to Moses and said to him, “I am (A)Yahweh; and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as [a](B)God Almighty, but by (C)My name, Yahweh, I was not known to them. And I also established (D)My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the [b]land in which they sojourned. Furthermore I have (E)heard the groaning of the sons of Israel because the Egyptians are holding them in slavery, and I have remembered My covenant. Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel, ‘(F)I am Yahweh, and (G)I will bring you out from under the hard labors of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their slavery. I will also (H)redeem you with (I)an outstretched arm and with great judgments. Then I will take you [c](J)for My people, and (K)I will be [d]your God; and (L)you shall know that I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out from under the hard labors of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land which (M)I [e]swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, and (N)I will give it to you for a possession; (O)I am Yahweh.’” So Moses spoke thus to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on (P)account of their weakness of spirit and [f]hard slavery.

Hebrews 8:1-7

Jesus, High Priest of a New Covenant

Now the main point in what is being said is this: we have such a (A)high priest, who sat down at (B)the right hand of the throne of the (C)Majesty in the heavens, a (D)minister [a]in the [b]holy places and [c]in the (E)true [d]tabernacle, which the Lord (F)pitched, not man. For every (G)high priest is appointed (H)to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so it is necessary that this high priest also have something to offer. Now if He were on earth, He would not be a priest at all, since there are those who (I)offer the gifts according to the Law; who serve (J)a copy and (K)shadow of the heavenly things, just as Moses [e]was (L)warned by God when he was about to erect the tabernacle; for, “(M)See,” He says, “that you make all things according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.” But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the (N)mediator of (O)a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises. For (P)if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second.
