Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Hannah’s Song of Thanksgiving
2 Then Hannah (A)prayed and said,
“My heart exults in Yahweh;
(B)My [a]horn is exalted in Yahweh;
My mouth [b]speaks boldly against my enemies,
Because (C)I am glad in Your salvation.
2 (D)There is no one holy like Yahweh;
Indeed, (E)there is no one besides You,
(F)Nor is there any rock like our God.
3 Do not multiply speaking so very proudly;
(G)Let arrogance not come out of your mouth;
(H)For Yahweh is a God of knowledge,
(I)And with Him actions are weighed.
4 (J)The bows of the mighty are shattered,
(K)But those who stumble gird on strength.
5 Those who were full hire themselves out for bread,
But those who were hungry cease to hunger.
(L)Even the barren gives birth to seven,
But (M)she who has many children languishes.
6 (N)Yahweh puts to death and makes alive;
(O)He brings down to Sheol and raises up.
7 (P)Yahweh makes poor and rich;
(Q)He brings low; He also exalts.
8 (R)He raises the poor from the dust;
(S)He exalts the needy from the ash heap
(T)To make them sit with nobles,
And inherit a seat of glory;
(U)For the pillars of the earth are Yahweh’s,
And He set the world on them.
9 (V)He keeps the feet of His holy ones,
(W)But the wicked ones are silenced in darkness,
(X)For not by power shall a man prevail.
10 (Y)Those who contend with Yahweh will be dismayed;
(Z)Against them He will thunder in the heavens;
(AA)Yahweh will render justice to the ends of the earth,
(AB)And He will give strength to His king,
(AC)And He will exalt the [c]horn of His anointed.”
2 These are the generations of Jacob.
Joseph, when (A)seventeen years of age, was pasturing the flock with his brothers while he was still a youth, along with (B)the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Joseph brought back an (C)evil report about them to their father. 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his sons because he was (D)the son of his old age; and he made him a [a](E)varicolored tunic. 4 And his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, and so they (F)hated him and could not speak to him in peace.
Joseph’s Dreams
5 Then Joseph [b](G)had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; so they hated him even more. 6 And he said to them, “Please listen to this dream which I have [c]had: 7 Indeed, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf rose up and also stood upright; and behold, your sheaves gathered around and (H)bowed down to my sheaf.” 8 Then his brothers said to him, “(I)Are you really going to reign over us? Or are you really going to rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.
9 Then he [d]had still another dream and recounted it to his brothers and said, “Behold, I have [e]had still another dream; and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” 10 And he recounted it to his father and to his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have [f]had? Shall I and your mother and (J)your brothers really come to bow ourselves down before you to the ground?” 11 (K)And his brothers were jealous of him, but his father (L)kept the saying in mind.
The Genealogy of Jesus Christ
1 The book of the genealogy of [a]Jesus [b]Christ, (A)the son of David, (B)the son of Abraham:

and Joram was the father of Uzziah.
9 And Uzziah was the father of [i]Jotham,

and Ahaz was the father of Hezekiah.
10 And Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh,
and Manasseh was the father of [j]Amon,
and Amon was the (F)father of Josiah.
11 And Josiah was the father of [k]Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the (G)deportation to Babylon.
12 And after the (H)deportation to Babylon:
Jeconiah was the father of [l]Shealtiel,
and Shealtiel was the father of Zerubbabel.
13 And Zerubbabel was the father of [m]Abihud,
and Abihud was the father of Eliakim,
