Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Prayer for Protection, Guidance and Pardon.
A Psalm of David.
25 To You, O Lord, I (A)lift up my soul.
2 O my God, in You (B)I trust,
Do not let me (C)be ashamed;
Do not let my (D)enemies exult over me.
3 Indeed, (E)none of those who wait for You will be ashamed;
[a]Those who (F)deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.
4 (G)Make me know Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
5 Lead me in (H)Your truth and teach me,
For You are the (I)God of my salvation;
For You I (J)wait all the day.
6 (K)Remember, O Lord, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses,
For they have been [b](L)from of old.
7 Do not remember the (M)sins of my youth or my transgressions;
(N)According to Your lovingkindness remember me,
For Your (O)goodness’ sake, O Lord.
Idolatry Forbidden
19 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 “Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘(A)You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy. 3 Every one of you (B)shall reverence his mother and his father, and you shall keep (C)My sabbaths; (D)I am the Lord your God. 4 Do not turn to (E)idols or make for yourselves molten (F)gods; I am the Lord your God.
32 ‘(A)You shall rise up before the grayheaded and honor the [a]aged, and you shall revere your God; I am the Lord.
33 ‘(B)When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. 34 The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and (C)you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God.
35 ‘(D)You shall do no wrong in judgment, in measurement of weight, or capacity. 36 You shall have (E)just balances, just weights, a just [b]ephah, and a just [c]hin; I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from the land of Egypt. 37 You shall thus observe all My statutes and all My ordinances and do them; I am the Lord.’”
16 “For God so (A)loved the world, that He (B)gave His [a](C)only begotten Son, that whoever (D)believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God (E)did not send the Son into the world (F)to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 (G)He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of (H)the [b]only begotten Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that (I)the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for (J)their deeds were evil. 20 (K)For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But he who (L)practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”
