Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Yodh.
73 (A)Your hands made me and [a]fashioned me;
(B)Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.
74 May those who [b]fear You (C)see me and be glad,
Because I [c](D)wait for Your word.
75 I know, O Lord, that Your judgments are (E)righteous,
And that (F)in faithfulness You have afflicted me.
76 O may Your lovingkindness [d]comfort me,
According to Your [e]word to Your servant.
77 May (G)Your compassion come to me that I may live,
For Your law is my (H)delight.
78 May (I)the arrogant be ashamed, for they subvert me (J)with a lie;
But I shall (K)meditate on Your precepts.
79 May those who [f]fear You turn to me,
Even those who know Your testimonies.
80 May my heart be [g](L)blameless in Your statutes,
So that I will not (M)be ashamed.
10 To whom shall I speak and give warning
That they may hear?
Behold, their (A)ears are [a]closed
And they cannot listen.
Behold, (B)the word of the Lord has become a reproach to them;
They have no delight in it.
11 But I am (C)full of the wrath of the Lord;
I am (D)weary with holding it in.
“(E)Pour it out on the children in the street
And on the [b]gathering of young men together;
For both husband and wife shall be taken,
The aged [c]and the very old.
12 “Their (F)houses shall be turned over to others,
Their fields and their wives together;
For I will (G)stretch out My hand
Against the inhabitants of the land,” declares the Lord.
13 “For (H)from the least of them even to the greatest of them,
Everyone is (I)greedy for gain,
And from the prophet even to the priest
Everyone [d]deals falsely.
14 “They have (J)healed the brokenness of My people superficially,
Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’
But there is no peace.
15 “Were they (K)ashamed because of the abomination they have done?
They were not even ashamed at all;
They did not even know how to blush.
Therefore they shall fall among those who fall;
At the time that I punish them,
They shall be cast down,” says the Lord.
16 Thus says the Lord,
“Stand by the ways and see and ask for the (L)ancient paths,
Where the good way is, and walk in it;
And (M)you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
17 “And I set (N)watchmen over you, saying,
‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’
But they said, ‘We will not listen.’
18 “Therefore hear, O nations,
And know, O congregation, what is among them.
19 “(O)Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing disaster on this people,
The (P)fruit of their [e]plans,
Because they have not listened to My words,
And as for My law, they have (Q)rejected it also.
21 Now after these things were finished, Paul purposed in the [a]Spirit to (A)go to Jerusalem (B)after he had passed through (C)Macedonia and (D)Achaia, saying, “After I have been there, (E)I must also see Rome.” 22 And having sent into (F)Macedonia two of (G)those who ministered to him, (H)Timothy and (I)Erastus, he himself stayed in [b](J)Asia for a while.
23 About that time there occurred no small disturbance concerning (K)the Way. 24 For a man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of [c]Artemis, (L)was bringing no little [d]business to the craftsmen; 25 these he gathered together with the workmen of similar trades, and said, “Men, you know that our prosperity [e]depends upon this business. 26 You see and hear that not only in (M)Ephesus, but in almost all of [f](N)Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away a considerable number of people, saying that [g](O)gods made with hands are no gods at all. 27 Not only is there danger that this trade of ours fall into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess [h]Artemis be regarded as worthless and that she whom all of [i](P)Asia and (Q)the [j]world worship will even be dethroned from her magnificence.”
