Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Ascribe to Yahweh Glory and Strength
96 (A)Sing to Yahweh a (B)new song;
Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.
2 Sing to Yahweh, bless His name;
(C)Proclaim good news of His salvation from day to day.
3 Recount (D)His glory among the nations,
His wondrous deeds among all the peoples.
4 For (E)great is Yahweh and (F)greatly to be praised;
He is [a]more [b](G)fearsome (H)than all gods.
5 For (I)all the gods of the peoples are [c]idols,
But (J)Yahweh made the heavens.
6 (K)Splendor and majesty are before Him,
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
14 Then the king turned his face around and (A)blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel was standing. 15 And he said, “(B)Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, (C)who spoke with His mouth to my father David and has fulfilled it by His hand, saying, 16 ‘(D)Since the day that I brought My people Israel from Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house that (E)My name might be there, but (F)I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’ 17 (G)And it was [a]in the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel. 18 But Yahweh said to my father David, ‘Because it was [b]in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it was [c]in your heart. 19 (H)Nevertheless you shall not build the house, but your son who will (I)come forth from your loins, he shall build the house for My name.’ 20 And Yahweh has established His word which He spoke; and (J)I have been established in place of my father David and sit on the throne of Israel, as Yahweh [d]promised, and have built the house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel. 21 And there I have set a place for the ark, (K)in which is the covenant of Yahweh, which He cut with our fathers when He brought them from the land of Egypt.”
Paul Defends His Apostleship
11 I wish that you would (A)bear with me in a little (B)foolishness, but [a]indeed you are bearing with me. 2 For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy, for I (C)betrothed you to one husband, so that I might (D)present you as a pure virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear that, as the (E)serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be corrupted from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. 4 For if [b]one comes and preaches (F)another Jesus whom we did not preach, or you receive a (G)different spirit which you did not receive, or a (H)different gospel which you did not accept, you (I)bear this (J)beautifully. 5 For I consider myself (K)in no way inferior to the [c]most-eminent apostles. 6 But even if I am (L)unskilled in word, yet I am not so in (M)knowledge; in fact, in every way we have (N)made this evident to you in all things.
