2 Thessalonians 1:1-4

He thanks God for their faith and love, and prays for the increase of the same.

Paul, Sylvanus, and Timothy.

To the congregation of the Thessalonians who are in God our Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace be with you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because your faith grows exceedingly, and every one of you swims in love toward another between yourselves, so that we ourselves rejoice over you in the congregations of God – over your patience and faith in all the persecutions and tribulations that you suffer,

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

11 Therefore we pray always for you, that our God would make you worthy of the calling, and would fulfil all pleasure in goodness and the work of faith with power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him, through the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Luke 19:1-10

Of Zaccheus, and of the ten servants to whom the minas were delivered. Christ rides to Jerusalem and weeps over it.

19 And he entered in and went through Jericho. And there was a man named Zaccheus, who was a chief publican, and was rich also. And he made efforts to see Jesus, who he was. But due to the press of people, he could not, because he was of a low stature. And so he ran ahead and climbed up into a wild fig tree in order to see him, for he would be coming that way.

And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, Zacche, come down at once, for today I must stay at your house. And he came down hastily, and brought him home joyfully. And when the people saw that, they all murmured, saying, He has gone in to stay with a man that is a sinner.

And Zacche stood forth and said to the Lord, Behold, Lord: half of my goods I give to the poor, and if I have done any man wrong, I will restore him fourfold. And Jesus said to him, This day salvation has come to this house, seeing that he also has become the child of Abraham. 10 For the Son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
