Psalm 94-96

God of Vengeance, Shine Forth

94 O Yahweh, God of [a](A)vengeance,
God of [b]vengeance, [c](B)shine forth!
(C)Be lifted up, O (D)Judge of the earth,
Render recompense (E)to the proud.
How long shall the wicked, O Yahweh,
How long shall the (F)wicked exult?
They pour forth words, they (G)speak arrogantly;
All workers of iniquity (H)vaunt themselves.
They (I)crush Your people, O Yahweh,
And (J)afflict Your inheritance.
They (K)slay the widow and the sojourner
And murder the orphans.
(L)They have said, “Yah does not see,
Nor does the God of Jacob discern.”

Discern, you (M)senseless among the people;
And when will you have insight, (N)you fools?
He who (O)planted the ear, [d]does He not hear?
He who formed the eye, [e]does He not see?
10 He who [f](P)disciplines the nations, will He not rebuke,
Even He who (Q)teaches man knowledge?
11 Yahweh (R)knows the thoughts of man,
[g]That they are vanity.

12 Blessed is the man whom (S)You discipline, O Yah,
And (T)whom You teach out of Your law;
13 That You may grant him (U)calm from the (V)days of calamity,
Until (W)a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For (X)Yahweh will not abandon His people,
Nor will He (Y)forsake His inheritance.
15 For [h](Z)judgment will [i]again be righteous,
And all the upright in heart will [j]follow it.
16 Who will (AA)arise for me against evildoers?
Who will take his stand for me (AB)against workers of iniquity?

17 If (AC)Yahweh had not been my help,
My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence.
18 If I should say, “(AD)My foot has stumbled,”
Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, will hold me up.
19 When my anxious thoughts [k]multiply within me,
Your (AE)consolations delight my soul.
20 Can a [l](AF)throne of destruction be allied with You,
One (AG)which forms [m]trouble by statute?
21 They (AH)band themselves together against the [n]life of the righteous
And (AI)condemn [o]the innocent to death.
22 But Yahweh has been my (AJ)stronghold,
And my God the (AK)rock of my refuge.
23 He has (AL)brought back their [p]iniquity upon them
And will [q](AM)destroy them in their evil;
Yahweh our God will [r]destroy them.

Let Us Kneel Before Yahweh Our Maker

95 Oh come, let us (AN)sing for joy to Yahweh,
Let us make a loud shout to (AO)the rock of our salvation.
Let us (AP)come before His presence (AQ)with [s]thanksgiving,
Let us make a loud shout to Him (AR)with songs of praise.
For Yahweh is a (AS)great God
And a great King (AT)above all gods,
In whose hand are the (AU)depths of the earth,
The peaks of the mountains are His also.
[t]The sea is His, for it was He (AV)who made it,
And His hands formed the dry land.

Come, let us (AW)worship and bow down,
Let us (AX)kneel before Yahweh our (AY)Maker.
For He is our God,
And (AZ)we are the people of His (BA)pasture and the sheep of His hand.
(BB)Today, [u]if you hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts, as at [v](BC)Meribah,
As in the day of [w](BD)Massah in the wilderness,
“When your fathers (BE)tried Me,
They tested Me, though they had seen My work.
10 For (BF)forty years I loathed that generation,
And said they are a people who wander in their heart,
And they do not know My ways.
11 Therefore I (BG)swore in My anger,
They shall never enter into My (BH)rest.”

Ascribe to Yahweh Glory and Strength

96 (BI)Sing to Yahweh a (BJ)new song;
Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.
Sing to Yahweh, bless His name;
(BK)Proclaim good news of His salvation from day to day.
Recount (BL)His glory among the nations,
His wondrous deeds among all the peoples.
For (BM)great is Yahweh and (BN)greatly to be praised;
He is [x]more [y](BO)fearsome (BP)than all gods.
For (BQ)all the gods of the peoples are [z]idols,
But (BR)Yahweh made the heavens.
(BS)Splendor and majesty are before Him,
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

[aa]Ascribe to Yahweh, O (BT)families of the peoples,
[ab](BU)Ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.
Ascribe to Yahweh the (BV)glory of His name;
Lift up [ac]an (BW)offering and come into His courts.
(BX)Worship Yahweh in the splendor of holiness;
(BY)Tremble before Him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations, “(BZ)Yahweh [ad]reigns;
Indeed, the (CA)world is established, it will not be shaken;
He will (CB)render justice to the peoples with [ae]equity.”

11 Let the (CC)heavens be glad, and let the (CD)earth rejoice;
Let (CE)the sea [af]roar, as well as its fullness;
12 Let the (CF)field exult, and all that is in it.
Then all the (CG)trees of the forest will sing for joy
13 Before Yahweh, (CH)for He is coming,
For He is coming to judge the earth.
(CI)He will judge the world in righteousness
And the peoples in His faithfulness.

Romans 15:14-33

Paul’s Ministry Plans

14 But I myself am also convinced about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of (A)goodness, having been filled with (B)all knowledge and being able also to admonish one another. 15 But I have written very boldly to you on some points so as to remind you again, because of (C)the grace that was given me [a]by God 16 for me to be (D)a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, ministering as a priest the (E)gospel of God, so that my (F)offering of the Gentiles may become acceptable, having been sanctified by the Holy Spirit. 17 Therefore in Christ Jesus I have (G)reason for boasting in (H)things pertaining to God. 18 For I will not be bold to speak of anything [b]except what (I)Christ has brought about through me, [c]leading to the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed, 19 in the power of [d](J)signs and wonders, (K)in the power of the Spirit; so that (L)from Jerusalem and all around as (M)far as Illyricum I have [e]fully preached the gospel of Christ. 20 And in this way I make it my ambition to (N)proclaim the gospel, not where Christ was already named, (O)so that I would not build on another man’s foundation; 21 but as it is written,

(P)They who had no declaration of Him shall see,
And they who have not heard shall understand.”

22 For this reason (Q)I have often been prevented from coming to you; 23 but now, with no further place for me in these regions, and since I (R)have had for many years a longing to come to you 24 whenever I (S)go to Spain—for I hope, passing through, to see you, and to be (T)helped on my way there by you, when I have first (U)enjoyed your company [f]for a while. 25 But now (V)I am going to Jerusalem to (W)serve the [g]saints. 26 For (X)Macedonia and (Y)Achaia were pleased to [h]share with the poor among the saints in Jerusalem. 27 Yes, they were pleased to do so, and they are indebted to them. For (Z)if the Gentiles have shared in their spiritual things, they are indebted to minister to them also in material things. 28 Therefore, when I have completed this and (AA)have [i]put my seal on this fruit of theirs, I will (AB)go on by way of you to Spain. 29 And I know that when (AC)I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.

30 Now I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by (AD)the love of the Spirit, to (AE)strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, 31 that I may be (AF)rescued from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my (AG)service for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to the [j](AH)saints; 32 so that (AI)I may come to you in joy by (AJ)the will of God and find rest in your company. 33 Now may (AK)the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
