Old/New Testament
Offerings of the Leaders
7 Now it happened on (A)the day that Moses had finished setting up the tabernacle, that he (B)anointed it and set it apart as holy with all its furnishings and the altar and all its utensils; he anointed them and set them apart as holy. 2 Then (C)the leaders of Israel, the heads of their fathers’ households, (D)brought an offering near (they were the leaders of the tribes; they were the ones who [a]were over the [b]numbered men). 3 And they brought their offering before Yahweh, six (E)covered carts and twelve oxen, a cart for every two of the leaders and an ox for each one, and they brought them near before the tabernacle. 4 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 5 “Accept these things from them, that they may be [c]used in the service of the tent of meeting, and you shall give them to the Levites, to each man according to his service.” 6 So Moses took the carts and the oxen and gave them to the Levites. 7 Two carts and four oxen he gave to the sons of Gershon, according to (F)their service, 8 and four carts and eight oxen he gave to the sons of Merari, according to (G)their service, under the [d]direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. 9 But he did not give any to the sons of Kohath because theirs was (H)the service of the holy objects, which they carried on the shoulder.
10 And the leaders brought near the dedication offering [e]for the altar [f]when (I)it was anointed, so the leaders brought their offering near before the altar. 11 Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Let them bring their offering near, one leader each day, for the dedication of the altar.”

(AO)This was the dedication offering for the altar after it was anointed.
89 Now when (AP)Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice speaking to him from above (AQ)the [k]mercy seat that was on the ark of the testimony, from (AR)between the two cherubim, so He spoke to him.
The Seven Lamps
8 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to Aaron and say to him, ‘When you [l]mount the lamps, the seven lamps will (AS)give light in the front of the lampstand.’” 3 Aaron therefore did so; he [m]mounted its lamps at the front of the lampstand, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses. 4 (AT)Now this was the workmanship of the lampstand, hammered work of gold; from its base to its flowers it was hammered work; (AU)according to the pattern which Yahweh had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.
Cleansing of the Levites
5 Again Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 6 “Take the Levites from among the sons of Israel and (AV)cleanse them. 7 Thus you shall do to them, for their [n]cleansing: sprinkle [o]purifying (AW)water on them, and let them [p](AX)use a razor over their whole [q]body and (AY)wash their clothes, and they will be clean. 8 Then let them take a bull from the herd with (AZ)its grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil; and a second bull from the herd you shall take for a sin offering. 9 So (BA)you shall bring the Levites near before the tent of meeting. (BB)You shall also assemble the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, 10 and bring the Levites near before Yahweh; and the sons of Israel (BC)shall lay their hands on the Levites. 11 Aaron then shall [r]present the Levites before Yahweh as a (BD)wave offering from the sons of Israel, that they may be qualified to perform the service of Yahweh. 12 Now (BE)the Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls; then offer the one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering to Yahweh, to make atonement for the Levites. 13 And you shall have the Levites stand before Aaron and before his sons so as to present them as a wave offering to Yahweh.
14 “Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the sons of Israel, and (BF)the Levites shall be Mine. 15 Then after that the Levites may go in to serve the tent of meeting. But you shall cleanse them and (BG)present them as a wave offering; 16 for they are (BH)wholly given to Me from among the sons of Israel. I have taken them for Myself (BI)instead of every first issue of the womb, the firstborn of all the sons of Israel. 17 For (BJ)every firstborn among the sons of Israel is Mine, among the men and among the animals; on the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for Myself. 18 But I have taken the Levites instead of every firstborn among the sons of Israel. 19 (BK)And I have given the Levites as [s]a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the sons of Israel, to perform the service of the sons of Israel at the tent of meeting and to make atonement on behalf of the sons of Israel, so that there will be no (BL)plague among the sons of Israel by [t]their coming near to the sanctuary.”
20 Thus did Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the sons of Israel to the Levites; according to all that Yahweh had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so the sons of Israel did to them. 21 (BM)The Levites, too, purified themselves from sin and washed their clothes; and Aaron presented them as a wave offering before Yahweh. Aaron also made atonement for them to cleanse them. 22 Then after that the Levites went in to perform their service in the tent of meeting before Aaron and before his sons; just as Yahweh had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.
Retirement of the Levites
23 Now Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “This is what applies to the Levites: from (BN)twenty-five years old and upward [u]they shall enter to perform their duty in the service of the tent of meeting. 25 But at the age of fifty years they shall [v]retire from their duty in the service and not serve anymore. 26 They may, however, minister to their brothers in the tent of meeting (BO)in order to keep up their responsibility, but they themselves shall perform no service. Thus you shall deal with the Levites concerning their responsibilities.”
21 And He was saying to them, “(A)Is a lamp brought to be put under a [a]basket or under a bed? Is it not to be put on the lampstand? 22 (B)For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light. 23 (C)If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” 24 And He was saying to them, “Beware what you listen to. [b](D)By your standard of measure it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you. 25 (E)For whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.”
The Parable of the Seed
26 And He was saying, “The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil; 27 and he sleeps and rises, night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows—how, he himself does not know. 28 The soil produces crops by itself; first the blade, then the head, then the mature grain in the head. 29 But when the grain [c]is ripe, he immediately [d](F)puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
The Parable of the Mustard Seed
30 (G)And He was saying, “How shall we (H)compare the kingdom of God, or by what parable shall we present it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the soil, though it is [e]smallest of all the seeds that are upon the soil, 32 yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes [f]largest of all the garden plants and forms large branches; so that (I)the birds of the [g]air can nest under its shade.”
33 And with many such parables He was speaking the word to them, as they were able to hear it; 34 and He was not speaking to them (J)without a parable; but He was (K)explaining everything privately to His own disciples.
Jesus Calms a Storm
35 (L)And on that day, when evening came, He *said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 [h]And leaving the crowd, they *took Him along with them (M)in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. 37 And a great windstorm *arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat so that the boat was already filling up. 38 And Jesus Himself was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion; and they *got Him up and *said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 And He woke up and (N)rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Silence! Be still.” And the wind died down and [i]it became [j]perfectly calm. 40 And He said to them, “Why are you so cowardly? (O)Do you still have no faith?” 41 And they became [k]very afraid and were saying to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”
