⁹ Now a man who is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer and deposit them outside the camp in a clean place, and ^[a]the congregation of the sons of Israel shall keep it as ^(A)water to remove impurity; it is ^[b]purification from sin.

^13 (A)Anyone who touches a corpse, the ^[a]body of a man who has died, and does not purify himself, ^[b](B)makes the ^[c]tabernacle of Yahweh unclean; and that person shall be cut off from Israel. Because the water for impurity was not ^[d](C)splashed on him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is still on him.

²⁰ ‘But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself from uncleanness, that person shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly because he has ^[a](A)made the sanctuary of Yahweh unclean; the water for impurity has not been ^[b]splashed on him; he is unclean.
