Deuteronomy 23

Persons Excluded from the Assembly

23 (A)No one who is [a]emasculated or has his male organ cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord. No one of illegitimate birth shall enter the assembly of the Lord; none of his descendants, even to the tenth generation, shall enter the assembly of the Lord. (B)No Ammonite or Moabite shall enter the assembly of the Lord; none of their descendants, even to the tenth generation, shall ever enter the assembly of the Lord, (C)because they did not meet you with [b]food and water on the way when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you (D)Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of [c]Mesopotamia, to curse you. Nevertheless, the Lord your God was not willing to listen to Balaam, but the Lord your God (E)turned the curse into a blessing for you because the Lord your God (F)loves you. (G)You shall never seek their peace or their prosperity all your days.

“You shall not detest an Edomite, for (H)he is your brother; you shall not detest an Egyptian, (I)because you were an alien in his land. The sons of the third generation who are born to them may enter the assembly of the Lord.

“When you go out as [d]an army against your enemies, you shall keep yourself from every evil thing.

10 (J)If there is among you any man who is unclean because of a nocturnal emission, then he must go outside the camp; he may not [e]reenter the camp. 11 But it shall be when evening approaches, he shall bathe himself with water, and at sundown he may [f]reenter the camp.

12 “You shall also have a place outside the camp and go out there, 13 and you shall have a [g]spade among your tools, and it shall be when you sit down outside, you shall dig with it and shall turn [h]to cover up your excrement. 14 Since (K)the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp to deliver you and to [i]defeat your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be (L)holy; and He must not see [j]anything indecent among you [k]or He will turn away from you.

15 (M)You shall not hand over to his master a slave who has [l]escaped from his master to you. 16 He shall live with you in your midst, in the place which he shall choose in one of your [m]towns where it pleases him; (N)you shall not mistreat him.

17 (O)None of the daughters of Israel shall be a cult prostitute, (P)nor shall any of the sons of Israel be a cult prostitute. 18 You shall not bring the hire of a harlot or the wages of a [n](Q)dog into the house of the Lord your God for any votive offering, for both of these are an abomination to the Lord your God.

19 (R)You shall not charge interest to your [o]countrymen: interest on money, food, or anything that may be loaned at interest. 20 (S)You may charge interest to a foreigner, but to your [p]countrymen you shall not charge interest, so that (T)the Lord your God may bless you in all [q]that you undertake in the land which you are about to enter to [r]possess.

21 (U)When you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not delay to pay it, for it would be sin in you, [s]and the Lord your God will surely require it of you. 22 However, if you refrain from vowing, it would not be sin in you. 23 You shall be careful to perform what goes out from your lips, just as you have voluntarily vowed to the Lord your God, what you have [t]promised.

24 “When you enter your neighbor’s vineyard, then you may eat grapes [u]until you are fully satisfied, but you shall not put any in your [v]basket.

25 (V)When you enter your neighbor’s standing grain, then you may pluck the heads with your hand, but you shall not wield a sickle in your neighbor’s standing grain.

Psalm 112-113

Prosperity of the One Who Fears the Lord.

112 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
How (A)blessed is the man who [c]fears the Lord,
Who greatly (B)delights in His commandments.
His [d](C)descendants will be mighty [e]on earth;
The generation of the (D)upright will be blessed.
(E)Wealth and riches are in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.
Light arises in the darkness (F)for the upright;
He is (G)gracious and compassionate and righteous.
It is well with the man who (H)is gracious and lends;
He will [f]maintain his cause in judgment.
For he will (I)never be shaken;
The (J)righteous will be [g]remembered forever.

He will not fear (K)evil tidings;
His (L)heart is steadfast, (M)trusting in the Lord.
His (N)heart is upheld, he (O)will not fear,
Until he (P)looks with satisfaction on his adversaries.
[h]He (Q)has given freely to the poor,
His righteousness endures forever;
His (R)horn will be exalted in honor.

10 The (S)wicked will see it and be [i]vexed,
He will (T)gnash his teeth and (U)melt away;
The (V)desire of the wicked will perish.

The Lord Exalts the Humble.

113 [j]Praise [k]the Lord!
(W)Praise, O (X)servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord.
(Y)Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time forth and forever.
(Z)From the rising of the sun to its setting
The (AA)name of the Lord is to be praised.
The Lord is (AB)high above all nations;
His (AC)glory is above the heavens.

(AD)Who is like the Lord our God,
Who (AE)is enthroned on high,
Who [l](AF)humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in heaven and in the earth?
He (AG)raises the poor from the dust
And lifts the needy from the ash heap,
To make them (AH)sit with [m]princes,
With the [n]princes of His people.
He (AI)makes the barren woman abide in the house
As a joyful mother of children.
[o]Praise [p]the Lord!

Isaiah 50

God Helps His Servant

50 Thus says the Lord,

“Where is the (A)certificate of divorce
By which I have (B)sent your mother away?
Or to whom of My creditors did I (C)sell you?
Behold, you were sold for your (D)iniquities,
And for your (E)transgressions your mother (F)was sent away.
“Why was there (G)no man when I came?
When I called, why was there none to answer?
Is My (H)hand so short that it cannot ransom?
Or have I no power to deliver?
Behold, I (I)dry up the sea with My rebuke,
I (J)make the rivers a wilderness;
Their fish stink for lack of water
And die of thirst.
“I (K)clothe the heavens with blackness
And make sackcloth their covering.”

The Lord [a]God has given Me the tongue of (L)disciples,
That I may know how to (M)sustain the weary one with a word.
He awakens Me (N)morning by morning,
He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
The Lord God has (O)opened My ear;
And I was (P)not disobedient
Nor did I turn back.
I (Q)gave My back to those who strike Me,
And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard;
I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.
For the Lord God (R)helps Me,
Therefore, I am (S)not disgraced;
Therefore, I have set My face like (T)flint,
And I know that I will not be ashamed.
He who (U)vindicates Me is near;
Who will contend with Me?
Let us (V)stand up to each other;
Who has a case against Me?
Let him draw near to Me.
Behold, (W)the Lord God helps Me;
(X)Who is he who condemns Me?
Behold, (Y)they will all wear out like a garment;
The moth will eat them.
10 Who is among you that fears the Lord,
That obeys the voice of His (Z)servant,
That (AA)walks in darkness and has no light?
Let him (AB)trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.
11 Behold, all you who (AC)kindle a fire,
Who [b]encircle yourselves with firebrands,
Walk in the light of your fire
And among the brands you have set ablaze.
This you will have from My hand:
You will (AD)lie down in torment.

Revelation 20

Satan Bound

20 Then I saw (A)an angel coming down from heaven, holding the (B)key of the abyss and a great chain [a]in his hand. And he laid hold of the (C)dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and (D)bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the (E)abyss, and shut it and (F)sealed it over him, so that he would (G)not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time.

Then I saw (H)thrones, and (I)they sat on them, and (J)judgment was given to them. And I saw (K)the souls of those who had been beheaded because of [b]their (L)testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not (M)worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the (N)mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they (O)came to life and (P)reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. (Q)This is the first resurrection. (R)Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the (S)second death has no power, but they will be (T)priests of God and of Christ and will (U)reign with Him for a thousand years.

Satan Freed, Doomed

When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be (V)released from his prison, and will come out to (W)deceive the nations which are in the (X)four corners of the earth, (Y)Gog and Magog, to (Z)gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the (AA)sand of the [c]seashore. And they (AB)came up on the [d]broad plain of the earth and surrounded the (AC)camp of the [e]saints and the (AD)beloved city, and (AE)fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And (AF)the devil who (AG)deceived them was thrown into the (AH)lake of fire and [f]brimstone, where the (AI)beast and the (AJ)false prophet are also; and they will be (AK)tormented day and night forever and ever.

Judgment at the Throne of God

11 Then I saw a great white (AL)throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose [g]presence (AM)earth and heaven fled away, and (AN)no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, the (AO)great and the small, standing before the throne, and [h](AP)books were opened; and another [i]book was opened, which is (AQ)the book of life; and the dead (AR)were judged from the things which were written in the [j]books, (AS)according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and (AT)death and Hades (AU)gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them (AV)according to their deeds. 14 Then (AW)death and Hades were thrown into (AX)the lake of fire. This is the (AY)second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if [k]anyone’s name was not found written in (AZ)the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
