M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
Guilt Offering
6 [a]Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “(A)When a person sins and acts unfaithfully against the Lord, and deceives his companion in regard to a deposit or a security entrusted to him, or through robbery, or if he has extorted from his companion, 3 or (B)has found what was lost and lied about it and sworn falsely, so that he sins in regard to any one of the things a man may do; 4 then it shall be, when he sins and becomes guilty, that he shall (C)restore what he took by robbery or what he got by extortion, or the deposit which was [b]entrusted to him or the lost thing which he found, 5 or anything about which he swore falsely; (D)he shall make restitution for it [c]in full and add to it one-fifth more. (E)He shall give it to the one to whom it belongs on the day he presents his guilt offering. 6 Then he shall bring to the priest his guilt offering to the Lord, (F)a ram without defect from the flock, according to your valuation, for a guilt offering, 7 and (G)the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for any one of the things which he may have done to incur guilt.”
The Priest’s Part in the Offerings
8 [d]Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 9 “Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is (H)the law for the burnt offering: the burnt offering itself shall remain on the hearth on the altar all night until the morning, and (I)the fire on the altar is to be kept burning on it. 10 The priest is to put on (J)his linen robe, and he shall put on undergarments next to his flesh; and he shall take up the [e]ashes to which the fire [f]reduces the burnt offering on the altar and place them beside the altar. 11 Then he shall take off his garments and put on other garments, and carry the [g]ashes outside the camp to a clean place. 12 The fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it. It shall not go out, but the priest shall burn wood on it every morning; and he shall lay out the burnt offering on it, and offer up in smoke the fat portions of the peace offerings (K)on it. 13 Fire shall be kept burning continually on the altar; it is not to go out.
14 ‘Now this is the law of the grain offering: the sons of Aaron shall present it before the Lord in front of the altar. 15 (L)Then one of them shall lift up from it a handful of the fine flour of the grain offering, [h]with its oil and all the incense that is on the grain offering, and he shall offer it up in smoke on the altar, a soothing aroma, as its memorial offering to the Lord. 16 (M)What is left of it Aaron and his sons are to eat. It shall be eaten as unleavened cakes in a holy place; they are to eat it in the court of the tent of meeting. 17 (N)It shall not be baked with leaven. I have given it as their share from My offerings by fire; (O)it is most holy, like the sin offering and (P)the guilt offering. 18 (Q)Every male among the sons of Aaron may eat it; it is a permanent ordinance throughout your generations, from the offerings by fire to the Lord. (R)Whoever touches them will become consecrated.’”
19 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 20 “This is the offering which Aaron and his sons are to present to the Lord on the day when he is anointed; the tenth of an (S)ephah of fine flour as (T)a [i]regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening. 21 It shall be prepared with oil on a (U)griddle. When it is well stirred, you shall bring it. You shall present the grain offering in baked pieces as a soothing aroma to the Lord. 22 The anointed priest who will be in his place [j]among his sons shall [k]offer it. By a permanent ordinance it shall be entirely offered up in smoke to the Lord. 23 So every grain offering of the priest shall be burned entirely. It shall not be eaten.”
24 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 25 “Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the sin offering: (V)in the place where the burnt offering is slain the sin offering shall be slain before the Lord; it is most holy. 26 (W)The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of meeting. 27 (X)Anyone who touches its flesh will become consecrated; and when any of its blood [l]splashes on a garment, in a holy place you shall wash what was splashed on. 28 Also (Y)the earthenware vessel in which it was boiled shall be broken; and if it was boiled in a bronze vessel, then it shall be scoured and rinsed in water. 29 (Z)Every male among the priests may eat of it; (AA)it is most holy. 30 But no sin offering (AB)of which any of the blood is brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement (AC)in the holy place shall be eaten; (AD)it shall be burned with fire.
Prayer for Protection from the Wicked.
For the choir director; for [a]flute accompaniment. A Psalm of David.
5 (A)Give ear to my words, O Lord,
Consider my [b](B)groaning.
2 Heed (C)the sound of my cry for help, (D)my King and my God,
For to You I pray.
3 In the morning, O Lord, [c]You will hear my voice;
In the (E)morning I will order my [d]prayer to You and eagerly (F)watch.
4 For You are not a God (G)who takes pleasure in wickedness;
(H)No evil [e]dwells with You.
5 The (I)boastful shall not (J)stand before Your eyes;
You (K)hate all who do iniquity.
6 You (L)destroy those who speak falsehood;
The Lord abhors (M)the man of bloodshed and deceit.
7 But as for me, (N)by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house,
[f]At Your holy temple I will (O)bow in (P)reverence for You.
8 O Lord, (Q)lead me (R)in Your righteousness (S)because of [g]my foes;
Make Your way [h]straight before me.
9 There is (T)nothing [i]reliable in [j]what they say;
Their (U)inward part is destruction itself.
Their (V)throat is an open grave;
They [k]flatter with their tongue.
10 Hold them guilty, O God;
(W)By their own devices let them fall!
In the multitude of their transgressions (X)thrust them out,
For they are (Y)rebellious against You.
11 But let all who (Z)take refuge in You (AA)be glad,
Let them ever sing for joy;
And [l]may You (AB)shelter them,
That those who (AC)love Your name may exult in You.
12 For it is You who (AD)blesses the righteous man, O Lord,
You (AE)surround him with favor as with a shield.
Prayer for Mercy in Time of Trouble.
For the choir director; with stringed instruments, [m]upon an eight-string lyre. A Psalm of David.
6 O Lord, (AF)do not rebuke me in Your anger,
Nor chasten me in Your wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am (AG)pining away;
(AH)Heal me, O Lord, for (AI)my bones are dismayed.
3 And my (AJ)soul is greatly dismayed;
But You, O Lord—(AK)how long?
4 Return, O Lord, (AL)rescue my [n]soul;
Save me because of Your lovingkindness.
5 For (AM)there is no [o]mention of You in death;
In [p]Sheol who will give You thanks?
On Life and Conduct
21 The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord;
He (A)turns it wherever He wishes.
2 (B)Every man’s way is right in his own eyes,
But the Lord (C)weighs the hearts.
3 To do (D)righteousness and justice
Is desired by the Lord more than sacrifice.
4 Haughty eyes and a proud heart,
The (E)lamp of the wicked, is sin.
5 The plans of the (F)diligent lead surely to advantage,
But everyone (G)who is hasty comes surely to poverty.
6 The (H)acquisition of treasures by a lying tongue
Is a fleeting vapor, the [a]pursuit of (I)death.
7 The violence of the wicked will drag them away,
Because they (J)refuse to act with justice.
8 The way of a guilty man is (K)crooked,
But as for the pure, his conduct is upright.
9 It is better to live in a corner of a roof
Than [b]in a house shared with a contentious woman.
10 The soul of the wicked desires evil;
His (L)neighbor finds no favor in his eyes.
11 When the (M)scoffer is punished, the [c]naive becomes wise;
But when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.
12 The righteous one considers the house of the wicked,
Turning the (N)wicked to ruin.
13 He who (O)shuts his ear to the cry of the poor
Will also cry himself and not be (P)answered.
14 A (Q)gift in secret subdues anger,
And a bribe in the bosom, strong wrath.
15 The exercise of justice is joy for the righteous,
But is (R)terror to the workers of iniquity.
16 A man who wanders from the way of understanding
Will (S)rest in the assembly of the [d]dead.
17 He who (T)loves pleasure will become a poor man;
He who loves wine and oil will not become rich.
18 The wicked is a (U)ransom for the righteous,
And the (V)treacherous is in the place of the upright.
19 (W)It is better to live in a desert land
Than with a contentious and vexing woman.
20 There is precious (X)treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise,
But a foolish man (Y)swallows it up.
21 He who (Z)pursues righteousness and loyalty
Finds life, righteousness and honor.
22 A (AA)wise man scales the city of the mighty
And brings down the [e]stronghold in which they trust.
23 He who (AB)guards his mouth and his tongue,
Guards his soul from troubles.
24 “Proud,” “Haughty,” “(AC)Scoffer,” are his names,
Who acts with (AD)insolent pride.
25 The (AE)desire of the sluggard puts him to death,
For his hands refuse to work;
26 All day long he [f]is craving,
While the righteous (AF)gives and does not hold back.
27 The (AG)sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination,
How much more when he brings it with evil intent!
28 A (AH)false witness will perish,
But the man who listens to the truth will speak forever.
29 A wicked man [g](AI)displays a bold face,
But as for the (AJ)upright, he makes his way sure.
30 There is (AK)no wisdom and no understanding
And no counsel against the Lord.
31 The (AL)horse is prepared for the day of battle,
But (AM)victory belongs to the Lord.
Fellow Workers
4 Masters, grant to your slaves justice and fairness, (A)knowing that you too have a Master in heaven.
2 (B)Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; 3 praying at the same time (C)for us as well, that God will open up to us a (D)door for (E)the word, so that we may speak forth (F)the mystery of Christ, for which I have also (G)been imprisoned; 4 that I may make it clear (H)in the way I ought to speak.
5 [a](I)Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward (J)outsiders, [b](K)making the most of the opportunity. 6 (L)Let your speech always be [c]with grace, as though seasoned with (M)salt, so that you will know how you should (N)respond to each person.
7 (O)As to all my affairs, (P)Tychicus, our (Q)beloved brother and faithful servant and fellow bond-servant in the Lord, will bring you information. 8 (R)For I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know about our circumstances and that he may (S)encourage your hearts; 9 [d]and with him (T)Onesimus, our faithful and (U)beloved brother, (V)who is one of your number. They will inform you about the whole situation here.
10 (W)Aristarchus, my (X)fellow prisoner, sends you his greetings; and also (Y)Barnabas’s cousin Mark (about whom you received [e]instructions; (Z)if he comes to you, welcome him); 11 and also Jesus who is called Justus; these are the only (AA)fellow workers for the kingdom of God (AB)who are from the circumcision, and they have proved to be an encouragement to me. 12 (AC)Epaphras, (AD)who is one of your number, a bondslave of Jesus Christ, sends you his greetings, always (AE)laboring earnestly for you in his prayers, that you may [f]stand [g](AF)perfect and [h]fully assured in all the will of God. 13 For I testify for him that he has [i]a deep concern for you and for those who are in (AG)Laodicea and Hierapolis. 14 (AH)Luke, the beloved physician, sends you his greetings, and also (AI)Demas. 15 Greet the brethren who are in (AJ)Laodicea and also [j]Nympha and (AK)the church that is in [k]her house. 16 (AL)When [l]this letter is read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and you, for your part (AM)read [m]my letter that is coming from (AN)Laodicea. 17 Say to (AO)Archippus, “Take heed to the (AP)ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may [n]fulfill it.”
18 [o]I, Paul, (AQ)write this greeting with my own hand. (AR)Remember my [p](AS)imprisonment. (AT)Grace be with you.
