M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
The Tabernacle Completed
38 (A)Then he made the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood, five [a]cubits [b]long, and five cubits [c]wide, square, and three cubits [d]high. 2 He made its horns on its four corners, its horns [e]being of one piece with it, and he overlaid it with [f]bronze. 3 He made all the utensils of the altar, the pails and the shovels and the basins, the flesh hooks and the firepans; he made all its utensils of bronze. 4 He made for the altar a grating of bronze network beneath, under its ledge, reaching halfway up. 5 He cast four rings on the four ends of the bronze grating as holders for the poles. 6 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with bronze. 7 He inserted the poles into the rings on the sides of the altar, with which to carry it. He made it hollow with planks.
8 (B)Moreover, he made the laver of bronze with its base of bronze, [g]from the mirrors of the serving women who served at the doorway of the tent of meeting.
9 (C)Then he made the court: [h]for the south side the hangings of the court were of fine twisted linen, one hundred cubits; 10 their twenty pillars, and their twenty [i]sockets, made of bronze; the hooks of the pillars and their [j]bands were of silver. 11 For the north side there were one hundred cubits; their twenty pillars and their twenty [k]sockets were of bronze, the hooks of the pillars and their [l]bands were of silver. 12 For the west side there were hangings of fifty cubits with their ten pillars and their ten [m]sockets; the hooks of the pillars and their [n]bands were of silver. 13 For the [o]east side fifty cubits. 14 The hangings for the one [p]side of the gate were fifteen cubits, with their three pillars and their three [q]sockets, 15 and so for the [r]other [s]side. [t]On both sides of the gate of the court were hangings of fifteen cubits, with their three pillars and their three [u]sockets. 16 All the hangings of the court all around were of fine twisted linen. 17 The [v]sockets for the pillars were of [w]bronze, the hooks of the pillars and their [x]bands, of silver; and the overlaying of their tops, of silver, and all the pillars of the court were furnished with silver [y]bands. 18 The screen of the gate of the court was the work of the [z]weaver, of [aa]blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen. And the length was twenty cubits and the [ab]height was five cubits, corresponding to the hangings of the court. 19 Their four pillars and their four [ac]sockets were of bronze; their hooks were of silver, and the overlaying of their tops and their [ad]bands were of silver. 20 All the pegs of the [ae]tabernacle and of the court all around were of bronze.
The Cost of the Tabernacle
21 [af]This is the number of the things for the [ag]tabernacle, the [ah]tabernacle of the testimony, as they were [ai]numbered according to the [aj]command of Moses, for the service of the Levites, by the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. 22 Now (D)Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that the Lord had commanded Moses. 23 With him was (E)Oholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an engraver and a skillful workman and a [ak]weaver in [al]blue and in purple and in scarlet material, and fine linen.
24 All the gold that was used for the work, in all the work of the sanctuary, even the gold of the wave offering, was 29 talents and 730 shekels, according to (F)the shekel of the sanctuary. 25 (G)The silver of those of the congregation who were [am]numbered was 100 talents and 1,775 shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary; 26 (H)a beka a head (that is, half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary), for each one who passed over to those who were [an]numbered, from twenty years old and upward, for (I)603,550 men. 27 The hundred talents of silver were for casting the [ao]sockets of the sanctuary and the [ap]sockets of the veil; one hundred [aq]sockets for the hundred talents, a talent for a [ar]socket. 28 Of the 1,775 shekels, he made hooks for the pillars and overlaid their tops and made [as]bands for them. 29 The bronze of the wave offering was 70 talents and 2,400 shekels. 30 With it he made the [at]sockets to the doorway of the tent of meeting, and the bronze altar and its bronze grating, and all the utensils of the altar, 31 and the [au]sockets of the court all around and the [av]sockets of the gate of the court, and all the pegs of the [aw]tabernacle and all the pegs of the court all around.
The High Priestly Prayer
17 Jesus spoke these things; and (A)lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, “Father, the hour has come; (B)glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, 2 even as (C)You gave Him authority over all flesh, that (D)to [a]all whom You have given Him, (E)He may give eternal life. 3 This is eternal life, that they may know You, (F)the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom (G)You have sent. 4 (H)I glorified You on the earth, [b](I)having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. 5 Now, Father, (J)glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had (K)with You before the world was.
6 “(L)I have manifested Your name to the men whom (M)You gave Me out of the world; they were (N)Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have (O)kept Your word. 7 Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; 8 for (P)the words which You gave Me (Q)I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that (R)I came forth from You, and they believed that (S)You sent Me. 9 (T)I ask on their behalf; (U)I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom (V)You have given Me; for (W)they are Yours; 10 and (X)all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. 11 I am no longer in the world; and yet (Y)they themselves are in the world, and (Z)I come to You. (AA)Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name (AB)which You have given Me, that (AC)they may be one even as We are. 12 While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name (AD)which You have given Me; and I guarded them and (AE)not one of them perished but (AF)the [c]son of perdition, so that the (AG)Scripture would be fulfilled.
The Disciples in the World
13 But now (AH)I come to You; and (AI)these things I speak in the world so that they may have My (AJ)joy made full in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and (AK)the world has hated them, because (AL)they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them [d]from [e](AM)the evil one. 16 (AN)They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 (AO)Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. 18 As (AP)You sent Me into the world, (AQ)I also have sent them into the world. 19 For their sakes I (AR)sanctify Myself, that they themselves also may be (AS)sanctified (AT)in truth.
20 “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21 that they may all be one; (AU)even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, (AV)so that the world may [f]believe that (AW)You sent Me.
Their Future Glory
22 The (AX)glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; 23 (AY)I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected [g]in unity, so that the world may [h]know that (AZ)You sent Me, and (BA)loved them, even as You have loved Me. 24 Father, I desire that (BB)they also, whom You have given Me, (BC)be with Me where I am, so that they may see My (BD)glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before (BE)the foundation of the world.
25 “O (BF)righteous Father, [i]although (BG)the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that (BH)You sent Me; 26 and (BI)I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that (BJ)the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
Contrast the Upright and the Wicked
14 The (A)wise woman builds her house,
But the foolish tears it down with her own hands.
2 He who (B)walks in his uprightness fears the Lord,
But he who is (C)devious in his ways despises Him.
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod [a]for his back,
But (D)the lips of the wise will protect them.
4 Where no oxen are, the manger is clean,
But much revenue comes by the strength of the ox.
5 A (E)trustworthy witness will not lie,
But a (F)false witness [b](G)utters lies.
6 A scoffer seeks wisdom and finds none,
But knowledge is easy to one who has understanding.
7 Leave the (H)presence of a fool,
Or you will not [c]discern [d]words of knowledge.
8 The wisdom of the sensible is to understand his way,
But (I)the foolishness of fools is deceit.
9 Fools mock at [e]sin,
But (J)among the upright there is [f]good will.
10 The heart knows its own (K)bitterness,
And a stranger does not share its joy.
11 The (L)house of the wicked will be destroyed,
But the tent of the upright will flourish.
12 There (M)is a way which seems right to a man,
But its (N)end is the way of death.
13 Even in laughter the heart may be in pain,
And the (O)end of joy may be grief.
14 The backslider in heart will have his (P)fill of his own ways,
But a good man will (Q)be satisfied [g]with his.
15 The [h]naive believes everything,
But the sensible man considers his steps.
16 A wise man [i]is cautious and (R)turns away from evil,
But a fool is arrogant and careless.
17 A quick-tempered man acts foolishly,
And a man of evil devices is hated.
18 The [j]naive inherit foolishness,
But the sensible are crowned with knowledge.
19 The (S)evil will bow down before the good,
And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 The (T)poor is hated even by his neighbor,
But those who love the rich are many.
21 He who (U)despises his neighbor sins,
But (V)happy is he who is gracious to the [k]poor.
22 Will they not go astray who (W)devise evil?
But kindness and truth will be to those who devise good.
23 In all labor there is profit,
But [l]mere talk leads only to poverty.
24 The (X)crown of the wise is their riches,
But the folly of fools is foolishness.
25 A truthful witness saves lives,
But he who [m](Y)utters lies is [n]treacherous.
26 In the [o](Z)fear of the Lord there is strong confidence,
And [p]his children will have refuge.
27 The [q]fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
That one may avoid the snares of death.
28 In a multitude of people is a king’s glory,
But in the dearth of people is a prince’s ruin.
29 He who is (AA)slow to anger has great understanding,
But he who is [r]quick-tempered exalts folly.
30 A (AB)tranquil heart is life to the body,
But passion is (AC)rottenness to the bones.
31 He (AD)who oppresses the poor taunts (AE)his Maker,
But he who is gracious to the needy honors Him.
32 The wicked is (AF)thrust down by his [s]wrongdoing,
But the (AG)righteous has a refuge when he dies.
33 Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding,
But in the [t]hearts of fools it is made known.
34 Righteousness exalts a nation,
But sin is a disgrace to any people.
35 The king’s favor is toward a (AH)servant who acts wisely,
But his anger is toward him who acts shamefully.
Thanksgiving
1 (A)Paul and (B)Timothy, (C)bond-servants of (D)Christ Jesus,
To (E)all the [a](F)saints in Christ Jesus who are in (G)Philippi, [b]including the (H)overseers and (I)deacons: 2 (J)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 (K)I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always offering prayer with joy in (L)my every prayer for you all, 5 in view of your [c](M)participation in the (N)gospel (O)from the first day until now. 6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until (P)the day of Christ Jesus. 7 [d]For (Q)it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I (R)have you in my heart, since both in my [e](S)imprisonment and in the (T)defense and confirmation of the (U)gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me. 8 For (V)God is my witness, how I long for you all with the [f]affection of (W)Christ Jesus. 9 And this I pray, that (X)your love may abound still more and more in (Y)real knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may [g](Z)approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless [h]until (AA)the day of Christ; 11 having been filled with the (AB)fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
The Gospel Is Preached
12 Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances (AC)have turned out for the greater progress of the (AD)gospel, 13 so that my [i](AE)imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole [j]praetorian guard and to (AF)everyone else, 14 and that most of the [k]brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my [l](AG)imprisonment, have (AH)far more courage to speak the word of God without fear. 15 (AI)Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even [m]from envy and strife, but some also [n]from good will; 16 the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the (AJ)gospel; 17 the former proclaim Christ (AK)out of selfish ambition [o]rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my [p](AL)imprisonment. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice.
Yes, and I will rejoice, 19 for I know that this will turn out for my [q]deliverance (AM)through your [r]prayers and the provision of (AN)the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 according to my (AO)earnest expectation and (AP)hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with (AQ)all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be (AR)exalted in my body, (AS)whether by life or by death.
To Live Is Christ
21 For to me, (AT)to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 [s]But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean (AU)fruitful labor for me; and I do not know [t]which to choose. 23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the (AV)desire to depart and (AW)be with Christ, for that is very much better; 24 yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. 25 (AX)Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy [u]in the faith, 26 so that your (AY)proud confidence in me may abound in Christ Jesus through my coming to you again.
27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner (AZ)worthy of the (BA)gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are (BB)standing firm in (BC)one spirit, with one [v]mind (BD)striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28 in no way alarmed by your opponents—which is a (BE)sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God. 29 For to you (BF)it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to (BG)suffer for His sake, 30 experiencing the same (BH)conflict which (BI)you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
