Exodus 35

The Sabbath Emphasized

35 Then Moses assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and said to them, “(A)These are the things that the Lord has commanded you to [a]do:

(B)For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day, (C)a sabbath of complete rest to the Lord; (D)whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. (E)You shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the sabbath day.”

Moses spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, “This is the thing which the Lord has commanded, saying, (F)Take from among you a [b]contribution to the Lord; whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as the Lord’s [c]contribution: gold, silver, and [d]bronze, and [e]blue, purple and scarlet material, fine linen, goats’ hair, and rams’ skins [f]dyed red, and porpoise skins, and acacia wood, and oil for lighting, and spices for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense, and onyx stones and setting stones for the ephod and for the [g]breastpiece.

Tabernacle Workmen

10 (G)Let every skillful man among you come, and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11 the [h](H)tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its [i]sockets; 12 the (I)ark and its poles, the [j]mercy seat, and the curtain of the screen; 13 the (J)table and its poles, and all its [k]utensils, and the bread of the [l]Presence; 14 the (K)lampstand also for the light and its utensils and its lamps and the oil for the light; 15 and the (L)altar of incense and its poles, and the (M)anointing oil and the (N)fragrant incense, and the screen for the doorway at the [m]entrance of the tabernacle; 16 (O)the altar of burnt offering with its [n]bronze grating, its poles, and all its [o]utensils, the [p]basin and its stand; 17 (P)the hangings of the court, its pillars and its [q]sockets, and the screen for the gate of the court; 18 the pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the court and their cords; 19 the [r](Q)woven garments for ministering in the holy place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests.’”

Gifts Received

20 Then all the congregation of the sons of Israel departed from Moses’ presence. 21 (R)Everyone whose heart [s]stirred him and everyone whose spirit [t]moved him came and brought the Lord’s [u]contribution for the work of the tent of meeting and for all its service and for the holy garments. 22 Then all [v]whose hearts moved them, both men and women, came and brought brooches and [w]earrings and signet rings and bracelets, all articles of gold; so did every man who [x]presented an offering of gold to the Lord. 23 Every man, [y]who had in his possession [z]blue and purple and scarlet material and fine linen and goats’ hair and rams’ skins [aa]dyed red and porpoise skins, brought them. 24 Everyone who could make a [ab]contribution of silver and [ac]bronze brought the Lord’s [ad]contribution; and every man [ae]who had in his possession acacia wood for any work of the service brought it. 25 All the [af]skilled women spun with their hands, and brought what they had spun, in [ag]blue and purple and scarlet material and in fine linen. 26 All the women whose heart [ah]stirred with a skill spun the goats’ hair. 27 The rulers brought the onyx stones and the stones for setting for the ephod and for the [ai]breastpiece; 28 and (S)the spice and the oil for the light and for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. 29 The [aj]Israelites, all the men and women, whose heart [ak]moved them to bring material for all the work, which the Lord had commanded through Moses to be done, brought a (T)freewill offering to the Lord.

30 (U)Then Moses said to the sons of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 31 And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding and in knowledge and in all [al]craftsmanship; 32 [am]to make designs for working in gold and in silver and in [an]bronze, 33 and in the cutting of stones for settings and in the carving of wood, so as to perform in every inventive work. 34 He also has put in his heart to teach, both he and (V)Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35 (W)He has filled them with [ao]skill to perform every work of an engraver and of a designer and of an embroiderer, in [ap]blue and in purple and in scarlet material, and in fine linen, and of a weaver, as performers of every work and makers of designs.

John 14

Jesus Comforts His Disciples

14 (A)Do not let your heart be troubled; [a]believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for (B)I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, (C)I will come again and receive you to Myself, that (D)where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going.” (E)Thomas *said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus *said to him, “I am (F)the way, and (G)the truth, and (H)the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Oneness with the Father

(I)If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you (J)know Him, and have (K)seen Him.”

(L)Philip *said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus *said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? (M)He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that (N)I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? (O)The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. 11 Believe Me that (P)I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise (Q)believe because of the works themselves. 12 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and (R)greater works than these he will do; because (S)I go to the Father. 13 (T)Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that (U)the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything (V)in My name, I will do it.

15 (W)If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

Role of the Spirit

16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another [b](X)Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17 that is (Y)the Spirit of truth, (Z)whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

18 “I will not leave you as orphans; (AA)I will come to you. 19 [c](AB)After a little while (AC)the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; (AD)because I live, you will live also. 20 (AE)In that day you will know that (AF)I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 (AG)He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and (AH)he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will (AI)disclose Myself to him.” 22 (AJ)Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened (AK)that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, (AL)If anyone loves Me, he will (AM)keep My word; and (AN)My Father will love him, and We (AO)will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24 He who does not love Me (AP)does not keep My words; and (AQ)the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.

25 “These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. 26 But the (AR)Helper, the Holy Spirit, (AS)whom the Father will send in My name, (AT)He will teach you all things, and (AU)bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. 27 (AV)Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. (AW)Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. 28 (AX)You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and (AY)I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because (AZ)I go to the Father, for (BA)the Father is greater than I. 29 Now (BB)I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe. 30 I will not speak much more with you, for (BC)the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me; 31 but so that the world may know that I love the Father, [d]I do exactly as (BD)the Father commanded Me. Get up, (BE)let us go from here.

Proverbs 11

Contrast the Upright and the Wicked

11 A (A)false balance is an abomination to the Lord,
But a (B)just weight is His delight.
When (C)pride comes, then comes dishonor,
But with the humble is wisdom.
The (D)integrity of the upright will guide them,
But the (E)crookedness of the treacherous will destroy them.
(F)Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
But (G)righteousness delivers from death.
The (H)righteousness of the blameless will smooth his way,
But (I)the wicked will fall by his own wickedness.
The righteousness of the upright will deliver them,
But the treacherous will (J)be caught by their own greed.
When a wicked man dies, his (K)expectation will perish,
And the (L)hope of strong men perishes.
The righteous is delivered from trouble,
But the wicked [a]takes his place.
With his (M)mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor,
But through knowledge the (N)righteous will be delivered.
10 When it (O)goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices,
And when the wicked perish, there is joyful shouting.
11 By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted,
But by the mouth of the wicked it is torn down.
12 He who despises his neighbor lacks [b]sense,
But a man of understanding keeps silent.
13 He (P)who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets,
But he who is [c]trustworthy (Q)conceals a matter.
14 Where there is no (R)guidance the people fall,
But in abundance of counselors there is [d]victory.
15 He who is (S)guarantor for a stranger will surely suffer for it,
But he who hates [e]being a guarantor is secure.
16 A (T)gracious woman attains honor,
And ruthless men attain riches.
17 The (U)merciful man does [f]himself good,
But the cruel man [g]does himself harm.
18 The wicked earns deceptive wages,
But he who (V)sows righteousness gets a true reward.
19 He who is steadfast in (W)righteousness will attain to life,
And (X)he who pursues evil will bring about his own death.
20 The perverse in heart are an abomination to the Lord,
But the (Y)blameless in their [h]walk are His (Z)delight.
21 [i]Assuredly, the evil man will not go unpunished,
But the [j]descendants of the righteous will be delivered.
22 As a (AA)ring of gold in a swine’s snout
So is a beautiful woman who lacks [k]discretion.
23 The desire of the righteous is only good,
But the (AB)expectation of the wicked is wrath.
24 There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more,
And there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want.
25 The [l](AC)generous man will be [m]prosperous,
And he who (AD)waters will himself be watered.
26 He who withholds grain, the (AE)people will curse him,
But (AF)blessing will be on the head of him who (AG)sells it.
27 He who diligently seeks good seeks favor,
But (AH)he who seeks evil, evil will come to him.
28 He who (AI)trusts in his riches will fall,
But (AJ)the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.
29 He who (AK)troubles his own house will (AL)inherit wind,
And (AM)the foolish will be servant to the wisehearted.
30 The fruit of the righteous is (AN)a tree of life,
And (AO)he who is wise [n]wins souls.
31 If (AP)the righteous will be rewarded in the earth,
How much more the wicked and the sinner!

Ephesians 4

Unity of the Spirit

Therefore I, (A)the prisoner of the Lord, (B)implore you to (C)walk in a manner worthy of the (D)calling with which you have been (E)called, with all (F)humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another (G)in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the (H)bond of peace. There is (I)one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one (J)hope of your calling; (K)one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all (L)who is over all and through all and in all.

But (M)to each one of us (N)grace was given (O)according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore [a]it says,

(P)When He ascended on high,
He (Q)led captive a host of captives,
And He gave gifts to men.”

(Now this expression, “He (R)ascended,” what [b]does it mean except that He also [c]had descended into (S)the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended (T)far above all the heavens, so that He might (U)fill all things.) 11 And He (V)gave (W)some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as (X)evangelists, and some as pastors and (Y)teachers, 12 (Z)for the equipping of the [d]saints for the work of service, to the building up of (AA)the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to (AB)the unity of the faith, and of the [e](AC)knowledge of the Son of God, to a (AD)mature man, to the measure of the stature [f]which belongs to the (AE)fullness of Christ. 14 [g]As a result, we are (AF)no longer to be children, (AG)tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by (AH)craftiness [h]in (AI)deceitful scheming; 15 but [i]speaking the truth (AJ)in love, [j]we are to (AK)grow up in all aspects into Him who is the (AL)head, even Christ, 16 from whom (AM)the whole body, being fitted and held together [k]by what every joint supplies, according to the [l]proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself (AN)in love.

The Christian’s Walk

17 (AO)So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, (AP)that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the (AQ)futility of their mind, 18 being (AR)darkened in their understanding, [m](AS)excluded from the life of God because of the (AT)ignorance that is in them, because of the (AU)hardness of their heart; 19 and they, having (AV)become callous, (AW)have given themselves over to (AX)sensuality [n]for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. 20 But you did not (AY)learn [o]Christ in this way, 21 if indeed you (AZ)have heard Him and have (BA)been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you (BB)lay aside the (BC)old [p]self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the (BD)lusts of deceit, 23 and that you be (BE)renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and (BF)put on the (BG)new [q]self, which [r](BH)in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

25 Therefore, (BI)laying aside falsehood, (BJ)speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are (BK)members of one another. 26 (BL)Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not (BM)give the devil [s]an opportunity. 28 He who steals must steal no longer; but rather (BN)he must labor, (BO)performing with his own hands what is good, (BP)so that he will have something to share with [t]one who has need. 29 Let no [u](BQ)unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for (BR)edification [v]according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 30 (BS)Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, [w]by whom you were (BT)sealed for the day of redemption. 31 (BU)Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be (BV)put away from you, along with all (BW)malice. 32 (BX)Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, (BY)just as God in Christ also has forgiven [x]you.
