1 The genealogy of the sons of Judah. 5 Of Asher, 9 Of Jabez and his prayer, 11 Of Chelub, 24 And Simeon: their habitations. 38 And conquests.

The [i]sons of Judah were (A)Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

And Reaiah the son of Shobal begat Jahath, and Jahath begat Ahumai, and Lahad: these are the families of the Zorathites.

And these were of the father of Etam, Jezreel, and Ishma and Idbash: and the name of their sister was Hazelelponi.

And Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah: these are the sons of Hur the [j]eldest son of Ephrathah, the father of Bethlehem.

But Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah, and Naarah.

And Naarah bare him Ahuzzam, and Hepher, and Temeni and Haahashtari: these were the sons of Naarah.

And the sons of Helah were Zereth, Zohar and Ethnan.

Also Koz begat Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.

But Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name [k]Jabez, saying, Because I bare him in sorrow.

10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, If thou wilt bless me in deed, and enlarge my coasts, and [l]if thine hand be with me, and thou wilt cause me to be delivered from evil, that I be not hurt. And God granted the thing that he asked.

11 ¶ And Chelub the brother of Shuhah begat Mehir, which was the father of Eshton.

12 And Eshton begat Beth-Rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of the city of Ir-Nahash: these are the men of Rechah.

13 ¶ And the sons of Kenaz were Othniel, and Seraiah, and the son of Othniel, Hathath.

14 And Meonothai begat Ophrah. And Seraiah begat Joab the [m]father of the valley of craftsmen: for they were craftsmen.

15 ¶ And the sons of Caleb the son of [n]Jephunneh were Iru, Elah, and Naam. And the son of Elah was Kenaz.

16 And the sons of Jehallelel were Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.

17 And the sons of Ezrah were Jether and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon, and he begat Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.

18 Also his [o]wife Jehudijah bare Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Sochoh, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah: and these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh [p]which Mered took.

19 And the sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham the father of Keilah were the Garmites, and Eshtemoa the Maachathite.

20 And the sons of Shimon were Amnon and Rinnah, Ben-Hanan and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were Zoheth, and Ben-Zoheth.

21 (B)The sons of Shelah, the son of Judah were Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the households of them that wrought fine linen in the house of Ashbea.

22 And Jokim, and the men of Chozeba and Joash, and Saraph, which had the dominion in Moab, and [q]Jashubi-Lehem. These also are ancient things.

23 These were porters, and dwelt among plants and hedges: [r]there they dwelt with the king for his work.

24 (C)The sons of Simeon were Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and [s]Shaul.

25 Whose son was Shallum, and his son Mibsam, and his son Mishma.

26 And the sons of Mishma, Hamuel was his son, Zacchur his son, and Shimei his son.

27 And Shimei had sixteen sons, and six daughters, but his brethren had not many children, neither was all their family like to the children of Judah in multitude.

28 And they dwelt at [t]Beersheba, and at Moladah, and at Hazar Shual,

29 And at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,

30 And at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,

31 And at Beth Marcaboth, and at Hazar Susim, at Beth Biri, and at Shaaraim: these were their cities unto the reign of [u]David.

32 And their towns were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities.

38 These were famous Princes in their families, and increased greatly their father’s houses.

39 And they [v]went to the entering in of Gedor, even unto the East side of the valley, to seek pasture for their sheep.

40 And they found fat pasture and good, and a wide land both quiet and fruitful: for they of Ham had dwelt there before.

41 And these described by name, came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the inhabitants that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their room, because there was pasture there for their sheep.

42 And besides these, five hundred men of the sons of Simeon went to mount Seir, and Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel the sons of Ishi were their captains.

43 And they smote the rest of Amalek that had [w]escaped, and they dwelt there unto this day.

Hebrews 9

2 Comparing the form of the Tabernacle, 10 and the ceremonies of the Law, 11 unto the truth set out in Christ, 15 he concludeth that now there is no more need of another Priest, 24 because Christ himself had fulfilled these duties under the new covenant.

Then [a]the first Testament had also ordinances of religion, and a [b]worldly Sanctuary,

For the first Tabernacle was made, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the showbread, which Tabernacle is called the Holy places.

And after the [c]second veil was the Tabernacle, which is called the [d]Holiest of all,

Which had the golden censer, and the Ark of the Testament overlaid round about with gold, wherein the golden pot, which had Manna, was, and (A)Aaron’s rod that had budded, and the (B)tables of the Testament.

(C)And over the Ark were the glorious Cherubims, shadowing the [e]mercy seat: of which things we will not now speak particularly.

[f]Now when these things were thus ordained, the Priest went always into the first Tabernacle, and accomplished the service.

But into the second went the (D)high Priest alone, once every year, not without blood which he offered for himself, and for the [g]ignorances of the people.

[h]Whereby the holy Ghost this signified, that the way into the Holiest of all was not yet opened, while as yet the first tabernacle was standing,

[i]Which was a figure [j]for that present time, wherein were offered gifts and sacrifices that could not make holy, concerning the conscience, him that did the service,

10 [k]Which only stood in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal rites, [l]which were enjoined, until the time of reformation.

11 [m]But Christ being come an high Priest of good things to come, [n]by a [o]greater and a more perfect Tabernacle, not made with hands, that is, not of this building,

12 [p]Neither by the blood of [q]goats and calves: but by his own blood entered he in once unto the holy place, and obtained eternal redemption for us.

13 (E)[r]For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer, sprinkling them that are unclean, sanctifieth as touching the [s]purifying of the flesh,

14 How much more shall the (F)blood of Christ which through the eternal Spirit offered himself without fault to God, (G)purge your conscience from [t]dead works, to serve the living God?

15 [u]And for this cause is he the Mediator of the new Testament, that through (H)death which was for the redemption of the transgressions that were in the former Testament, they which were called, might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

16 [v]For where a Testament is, there must be the death of him that made the Testament.

17 (I)For the Testament is confirmed when men are dead: for it is yet of no force as long as he that made it, is alive.

18 [w]Wherefore, neither was the first ordained without blood.

19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to the people, [x]according to the Law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water and purple wool and hyssop, and [y]sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

20 (J)Saying, This is the blood of the Testament, which God hath appointed unto you.

21 Moreover, he sprinkled likewise the Tabernacle with blood also, and all the ministering vessels,

22 And almost all things are by the Law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood is no remission.

23 It was then necessary, that the [z]similitudes of heavenly things should be purified with such things: but the heavenly things themselves are purified with better sacrifices than are these.

24 [aa]For Christ is not entered into the holy places that are made with hands, which are similitudes of the true Sanctuary: but is entered into very heaven, to appear now in the sight of God for us,

25 [ab]Not that he should offer himself often, as the high Priest entered into the Holy place every year with others’ blood,

26 [ac](For then must he have often suffered since the foundation of the world) but now in the [ad]end of the world hath he been made manifest, once to put away [ae]sin by the sacrifice of himself.

27 And as it is appointed unto men that they shall [af]once die, and after that cometh the judgment:

28 So (K)Christ was once offered to take away the sins of [ag]many, [ah]and unto them that look for him, shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Amos 3

He reproveth the house of Israel of ingratitude. 11 For the which God will punish them.

Hear this word that the Lord pronounceth against you, O children of Israel, even against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

You [a]only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will visit you for all your iniquities.

Can two walk together except they be [b]agreed?

Will a [c]lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? or will a lion’s whelp cry out of his den, if he hath taken nothing?

[d]Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no fowler is? or will he take up the [e]snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?

Or [f]shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people be not afraid? or shall there [g]be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?

Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he [h]revealeth his secret unto his servants the Prophets.

The lion hath roared: who will not be afraid? the Lord God hath spoken, who can but [i]prophesy?

Proclaim in the palaces at [j]Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria: so behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.

10 For they know not to do right, saith the Lord: they store up violence, and robbery [k]in their palaces.

11 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, An adversary shall come even round about the country, and shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

12 Thus saith the Lord, As the shepherd taketh [l]out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear: so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed: and in [m]Damascus, as in a couch.

13 Hear, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord God, the God of hosts.

14 Surely in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also visit the altars of Bethel, and the horns of the altar shall be broken off, and fall to the ground.

15 And I will smite the winter house with the summer house, and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall be consumed, saith the Lord.

Psalm 146-147

146 1 David declareth his great zeal that he hath to praise God. 3 And teacheth, not to trust in man, but only in God Almighty, 7 Which delivereth the afflicted,  9 Defendeth the strangers, comforteth the fatherless, and the widows, 10 And reigneth forever.

Praise ye the Lord.

Praise thou the Lord, O my [a]soul.

I will praise the Lord during my life; as long as I have any being, I will sing unto my God.

Put not your trust in [b]Princes, nor in the son of man, for there is no help in him.

His breath departeth, and he returneth to his earth; then his [c]thoughts perish.

Blessed is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God,

Which made [d]heaven and earth, the sea, and all that therein is; which keepeth his fidelity forever,

Which executeth justice [e]for the oppressed, which giveth bread to the hungry; the Lord looseth the prisoners.

The Lord giveth sight to the blind: the Lord raiseth up the crooked: the Lord [f]loveth the righteous.

The Lord keepeth the [g]strangers: he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but he overthroweth the way of the wicked.

10 The Lord shall [h]reign forever: O Zion, thy God endureth from generation to generation. Praise ye the Lord.

147 1 The Prophet praiseth the bounty, wisdom, power, justice, and providence of God upon all his creatures. 2 But specially upon his Church, which he gathereth together after their dispersion, 19 Declaring his word and judgment so unto them, as he hath done to none other people.

Praise ye the Lord, for it is good to sing unto our God: for it is a [i]pleasant thing, and praise is comely.

The Lord doth build up [j]Jerusalem, and gather together the dispersed of Israel.

He healeth those that are [k]broken in heart, and bindeth up their sores.

He [l]counteth the number of the stars, and calleth them all by their names.

Great is our Lord, and great is his power: his wisdom is infinite.

The Lord relieveth the meek, and abaseth the wicked to the [m]ground.

Sing unto the Lord with praise: sing upon the harp unto our God,

Which [n]covereth the heaven with clouds, and prepareth rain for the earth, and maketh the grass to grow upon the mountains:

Which giveth to beasts their food, and to the young ravens that [o]cry.

10 He hath no pleasure in the [p]strength of an horse, neither delighteth he in the legs of man.

11 But the Lord delighteth in them that fear him, and attend upon his mercy.

12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem: praise thy God, O Zion.

13 For he hath made the bars of the gates [q]strong, and hath blessed thy children within thee.

14 He setteth peace in thy borders, and satisfieth thee with the [r]flour of wheat.

15 He sendeth forth his [s]commandment upon earth, and his word runneth very [t]swiftly.

16 He giveth snow like wool, and scattereth the hoary frost like ashes.

17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can abide the cold thereof?

18 He sendeth his word and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

19 He showeth his [u]word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

20 He hath not dealt so with every nation, neither have they [v]known his judgments. Praise ye the Lord.
