1 Kings 7

Solomon Builds His Own House

Now (A)Solomon built his own house thirteen years, and he completed all his house. (B)And he built the house of the forest of Lebanon; its length was [a]100 cubits and its width 50 cubits and its height 30 cubits, on four rows of cedar pillars with cedar beams on the pillars. And it was paneled with cedar above the side chambers which were on the 45 pillars, 15 in each row. Now there were artistic window frames in three rows, and window was opposite window in three ranks. And all the doorways and doorposts had squared artistic frames, and window was opposite window in three ranks.

Then he made (C)the hall of pillars; its length was 50 cubits and its width 30 cubits, and a porch was in front of them and pillars and a (D)threshold in front of them.

And he made the hall of the (E)throne where he was to judge, the hall of judgment, and (F)it was paneled with cedar from floor to floor.

Now his house where he was to live, the other court inward from the hall, was of the same workmanship. (G)He also made a house like this hall for Pharaoh’s daughter, (H)whom Solomon had married.

All these were of precious stones, of stone cut according to measure, sawed with saws, inside and outside; even from the foundation to the coping, and so on the outside to the great court.

10 And the foundation was of precious stones, even large stones, stones of ten cubits and stones of eight cubits. 11 And above were precious stones, stone cut according to measure, and cedar. 12 So (I)the great court all around had three rows of cut stone and a row of cedar beams even as the inner court of the house of Yahweh, and (J)the porch of the house.

Hiram’s Work in the House of Yahweh

13 Then (K)King Solomon sent and brought Hiram from Tyre. 14 (L)He was a widow’s son from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in bronze; and (M)he was filled with wisdom and discernment and knowledge to do any work in bronze. So he came to King Solomon and (N)did all his work.

15 And he fashioned (O)the two pillars of bronze; (P)eighteen cubits was the height of one pillar, and a line of twelve cubits [b]measured the circumference of both. 16 He also made two capitals of molten bronze to set on the tops of the pillars; the height of the one capital was five [c]cubits and the height of the other capital was five cubits. 17 There were nets of network and twisted threads of chainwork for the capitals which were on the top of the pillars; seven for the one capital and seven for the other capital. 18 So he made the pillars, and two rows around on the one network to cover the capitals which were on the top of the pomegranates; and so he did for the other capital. 19 Now the capitals which were on the top of the pillars in the porch were of lily design, four cubits. 20 And there were capitals on the two pillars, even right above the [d]rounded projection which was on the one side of the network; and (Q)the pomegranates numbered two hundred in rows around [e]both capitals. 21 (R)Thus he set up the pillars at the (S)porch of the nave; and he set up the right pillar and named it [f]Jachin, and he set up the left pillar and named it [g]Boaz. 22 And on the top of the pillars was lily design. So the work of the pillars was finished.

23 (T)And he made the sea of (U)cast metal ten cubits from brim to brim, circular in form, and its height was five cubits, and [h]thirty cubits in its circumference. 24 Now under its brim (V)gourds went around encircling it ten to a cubit, (W)entirely encircling the sea; the gourds were in two rows, cast with the Sea when it was cast. 25 (X)It stood on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east; and the sea was set on top of them, and all their rear parts turned inward. 26 And it was a [i]handbreadth thick, and its brim was made like the brim of a cup, as a lily blossom; it could hold [j]two thousand baths.

27 Then (Y)he made the ten stands of bronze; the length of each stand was four cubits and its width four cubits and its height three cubits. 28 Now this was the workmanship of the stands: they had borders, even borders between the [k]frames, 29 and on the borders which were between the [l]frames were lions, oxen, and cherubim; and on the [m]frames there was a pedestal above, and beneath the lions and oxen were wreaths of hanging work. 30 Now each stand had four bronze wheels with bronze axles, and its four feet had supports; beneath the laver were cast supports with wreaths at each side. 31 And its opening inside the capital at the top was a cubit, and its opening was round like the workmanship of a pedestal, a cubit and a half; and also on its opening there were engravings, and their borders were square, not round. 32 And the four wheels were underneath the borders, and the axles of the wheels were on the stand. And the height of a wheel was a cubit and a half. 33 Now the workmanship of the wheels was like the workmanship of a chariot wheel. Their axles, their rims, their spokes, and their hubs were all cast. 34 Now there were four supports at the four corners of each stand; its supports were part of the stand itself. 35 And on the top of the stand there was a circular form half a [n]cubit high, and on the top of the stand its [o]stays and its borders were part of it. 36 And he engraved on the plates of its stays and on its borders, cherubim, lions, and palm trees, according to the clear space on each, with wreaths all around. 37 (Z)He made the ten stands like this: all of them had one casting, one measure and one form.

38 (AA)He also made ten lavers of bronze, one laver held forty baths; each laver was four cubits, and on each of the ten stands was one laver. 39 Then he set the stands, five on the right side of the house and five on the left side of the house; and he set the sea of cast metal on the right side of the house eastward toward the south.

40 And Hiram made the lavers and the shovels and the bowls. So Hiram completed doing all the work that he did for King Solomon in the house of Yahweh: 41 the two pillars and the two bowls of the capitals which were on the top of the (AB)two pillars, and the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals which were on the top of the pillars, 42 and the (AC)four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, two rows of pomegranates for each network to cover the two bowls of the capitals which were on the tops of the pillars; 43 and the ten stands with the ten lavers on the stands; 44 and (AD)the one sea and the twelve oxen under the sea; 45 and (AE)the pots and the shovels and the bowls; and all these utensils which Hiram made for King Solomon in the house of Yahweh were of polished bronze. 46 (AF)On the plain of the Jordan the king cast them, in the clay ground between (AG)Succoth and (AH)Zarethan. 47 And Solomon left all the utensils unweighed, because they were too many; (AI)the weight of the bronze could not be found out.

48 Solomon also made all the furniture which was in the house of Yahweh: (AJ)the golden altar and the golden table on which was the (AK)bread of the Presence; 49 and the lampstands, five on the right side and five on the left, in front of the inner sanctuary, of pure gold; and (AL)the flowers and the lamps and the tongs, of gold; 50 and the cups and the snuffers and the bowls and the spoons and the (AM)firepans, of pure gold; and the hinges both for the doors of the inner house, the Holy of Holies, and for the doors of the house, that is, of the nave, of gold.

51 (AN)Thus all the work that King Solomon did in the house of Yahweh was finished. And (AO)Solomon brought in the things set apart as holy by his father David, the silver and the gold and the utensils, and he put them in the treasuries of the house of Yahweh.

Ephesians 4

Unity of the Spirit

Therefore I, (A)the prisoner in the Lord, (B)exhort you to (C)walk worthy of the (D)calling with which you have been (E)called, with all (F)humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another (G)in love, being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the (H)bond of peace. There is (I)one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one (J)hope of your calling; (K)one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all (L)who is over all and through all and in all.

But (M)to each one of us (N)grace was given (O)according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore [a]it says,

(P)When He ascended on high,
He (Q)led captive a host of captives,
And He gave gifts to men.”

(Now this expression, “He (R)ascended,” what [b]does it mean except that He also [c]descended into (S)the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended (T)far above all the heavens, so that He might (U)fill all things.) 11 And He Himself (V)gave (W)some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as (X)evangelists, and some as pastors and (Y)teachers, 12 (Z)for the equipping of the [d]saints for the work of service, to the building up of (AA)the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to (AB)the unity of the faith, and of the [e](AC)full knowledge of the Son of God, to a (AD)mature man, to the measure of the stature [f]which belongs to the (AE)fullness of Christ, 14 so that we are (AF)no longer to be children, (AG)tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by (AH)craftiness [g]in (AI)deceitful scheming, 15 but [h]speaking the truth (AJ)in love, [i]we are to (AK)grow up in all aspects into Him who is the (AL)head, that is Christ, 16 from whom (AM)the whole body, being joined and held together [j]by what every joint supplies, according to the properly (AN)measured working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself (AO)in love.

Put On the New Man

17 (AP)Therefore this I say, and testify in the Lord, (AQ)that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the (AR)futility of their mind, 18 being (AS)darkened in their mind, (AT)alienated from the life of God because of the (AU)ignorance that is in them, because of the (AV)hardness of their heart. 19 And they, having (AW)become callous, (AX)have given themselves over to (AY)sensuality [k]for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. 20 But you did not (AZ)learn [l]Christ in this way— 21 if indeed you (BA)heard Him and were (BB)taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22 [m]to (BC)lay aside, in reference to your former conduct, the (BD)old man, which is being corrupted in accordance with the (BE)lusts of deceit, 23 and to be (BF)renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and to (BG)put on the (BH)new man, which [n](BI)in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

25 Therefore, (BJ)laying aside falsehood, (BK)speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are (BL)members of one another. 26 (BM)Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not (BN)give the devil [o]an opportunity. 28 He who steals must steal no longer, but rather (BO)he must labor, (BP)performing with his own hands what is good, (BQ)so that he will have something to share with [p]one who has need. 29 Let no [q](BR)unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for (BS)building up [r]what is needed, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 30 (BT)And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, [s]by whom you were (BU)sealed for the day of redemption. 31 (BV)Let all bitterness and anger and wrath and shouting and slander be (BW)put away from you, along with all (BX)malice. 32 (BY)Instead, be kind to one another, tender-hearted, graciously forgiving each other, (BZ)just as God in Christ also has graciously forgiven [t]you.

Ezekiel 37

Vision of the Valley of Dry Bones

37 The (A)hand of Yahweh was upon me, and He (B)brought me out [a]by the Spirit of Yahweh and caused me to rest in the middle of the (C)valley; and it was full of bones. He caused me to pass among them all around, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley; and behold, they were very dry. He said to me, “Son of man, (D)can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord Yahweh, (E)You know.” Then He said to me, “(F)Prophesy over these bones and say to them, ‘O dry bones, (G)hear the word of Yahweh.’ Thus says Lord Yahweh to these bones, ‘Behold, I will cause [b](H)breath to enter you that you may come to life. I will put sinews on you, make flesh come up upon you, cover you with skin, and put breath in you that you may come alive; and you will (I)know that I am Yahweh.’”

So I prophesied (J)as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a [c]noise, and behold, a rumbling; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. And I looked, and behold, sinews were on them, and flesh came up upon them, and skin covered them; but there was no breath in them. Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Come from the four [d]winds, O breath, and (K)breathe on these who were killed, that they may (L)come to life.”’” 10 So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the (M)breath came into them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, an (N)exceedingly great military force.

11 Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the (O)whole house of Israel; behold, they say, ‘Our (P)bones are dried up, and our hope has perished. We are [e]completely (Q)cut off.’ 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I will open your graves and (R)cause you to come up out of your graves, My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13 Then you will know that I am Yahweh, when I have opened your graves and caused you to come up out of your graves, My people. 14 And I will (S)put My [f]Spirit within you, and you will come to life, and I will [g]place you on your own land. Then you will know that I, Yahweh, have spoken and done it,” declares Yahweh.’”

Israel Will No Longer Be Divided

15 The word of Yahweh came again to me saying, 16 “Now as for you, son of man, take for yourself (T)one stick and write on it, ‘For (U)Judah and for the sons of Israel, his companions’; then take another stick and write on it, ‘For (V)Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and all the house of Israel, his companions.’ 17 Then (W)draw them together for yourself one to another into one stick, that they may become one in your hand. 18 And when the sons of your people speak to you saying, ‘Will you not declare to us (X)what you mean by these?’ 19 say to them, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his companions; and I will put them with it, with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be one in My hand.”’ 20 And the sticks on which you write will be in your hand before their eyes. 21 And speak to them, ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “Behold, I will (Y)take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them (Z)one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and (AA)one king will be king for all of them; and they will no longer be two nations and no longer be divided into two kingdoms. 23 They also will (AB)no longer defile themselves with their idols or with their detestable things or with any of their transgressions; but (AC)I will save them from all their [h]places of habitation in which they have sinned, and I will cleanse them. And they will be My people, and I will be their God.

Yahweh Cuts a Covenant

24 “And My servant (AD)David will be king over them, and they will all have (AE)one shepherd; and they will walk in My judgments and keep My statutes and do them. 25 They will inhabit the land that I gave to Jacob My servant, which your fathers inhabited; and they will inhabit it, they, and their sons and their sons’ sons, forever; and (AF)David My servant will be their prince forever. 26 And I will cut a (AG)covenant of peace with them; it will be an (AH)everlasting covenant with them. And I will give them the land and (AI)multiply them and will set My (AJ)sanctuary in their midst forever. 27 My [i](AK)dwelling place also will be with them; and (AL)I will be their God, and they will be My people. 28 And the nations will know that I am Yahweh (AM)who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forever.”’”

Psalm 87-88

Yahweh Loves the Gates of Zion

Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm. A Song.

87 His (A)foundation is in the holy mountains.
Yahweh (B)loves the gates of Zion
More than all the dwelling places of Jacob.
(C)Glorious things are spoken of you,
O (D)city of God. [a]Selah.
“I shall mention [b](E)Rahab and Babylon among those who know Me;
Behold, Philistia and (F)Tyre with [c](G)Ethiopia:
‘This one was born there.’”
But of Zion it shall be said, “This one and that one were born in her”;
And the Most High Himself will (H)establish her.
Yahweh will count when He (I)registers the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah.
And (J)singers, just like the (K)dancers, will all say,
“All my (L)springs are in you.”

Incline Your Ear to My Cry

A Song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. For the choir director. According to Mahalath Leannoth. A [d]Maskil of Heman [e]the Ezrahite.

88 O Yahweh, the (M)God of my salvation,
I have (N)cried out by day and throughout the night before You.
Let my prayer (O)come before You;
(P)Incline Your ear to my cry of lamentation!
For my (Q)soul has been saturated with calamities,
And (R)my life has reached Sheol.
I am counted among those who (S)go down to the pit;
I am like a man (T)without strength,
Released (U)among the dead,
Like the slain who lie in the grave,
Whom You remember no more,
And they are (V)cut off from Your hand.
You have put me in (W)the pit far below,
In (X)dark places, in the (Y)depths.
Your wrath (Z)lies upon me,
And You afflict me with (AA)all Your breaking waves. [f]Selah.
You have removed (AB)my acquaintances far from me;
You have set me as [g]an (AC)abomination to them;
I am (AD)shut up and cannot go out.
My (AE)eye has wasted away because of affliction;
I have (AF)called upon You every day, O Yahweh;
I have (AG)spread out my [h]hands to You.

10 Will You do wonders for the dead?
Will (AH)the [i]departed spirits rise and praise You? Selah.
11 Will Your lovingkindness be recounted in the grave,
Your faithfulness in [j]Abaddon?
12 Will Your wonders be known in the (AI)darkness?
And Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13 But as for me, O Yahweh, I have cried out (AJ)to You for help,
And (AK)in the morning my prayer comes before You.
14 O Yahweh, why (AL)do You reject my soul?
Why do You (AM)hide Your face from me?
15 I have been afflicted and (AN)about to breathe my last from my youth on;
I bear (AO)Your terrors; I am [k]overcome.
16 Your (AP)burning anger has passed over me;
Your horrors have [l](AQ)destroyed me.
17 They have (AR)surrounded me (AS)like water all day long;
They have (AT)encompassed me altogether.
18 You have removed (AU)lover and friend far from me;
My acquaintances are in darkness.
