Exodus 37

Making the Ark of the Testimony

37 (A)And Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood; its length was two and a half [a]cubits, and its width one and a half cubits, and its height one and a half cubits; and he overlaid it with pure gold inside and out, and made a gold molding for it all around. He cast four rings of gold for it on its four feet; even two rings on one side of it, and two rings on the [b]other side of it. He made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold. He put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry [c]it. He made a [d]mercy seat of pure gold, two and a half [e]cubits [f]long and one and a half cubits [g]wide. He made two cherubim of gold; he made them of hammered work [h]at the two ends of the mercy seat; one cherub [i]at the one end and one cherub [j]at the other end; from one piece he made the mercy seat with the cherubim [k]at its two ends. The cherubim had their wings spread upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward each other; the faces of the cherubim were toward the mercy seat.

Making the Table

10 (B)Then he made the table of acacia wood, two [l]cubits [m]long and a cubit [n]wide and one and a half cubits [o]high. 11 He overlaid it with pure gold and made a gold molding for it all around. 12 He made a rim for it of a handbreadth all around and made a gold molding for its rim all around. 13 He cast four gold rings for it and put the rings on the four corners that were on its four feet. 14 Close to the rim were the rings, the holders for the poles to carry the table. 15 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold, to carry the table. 16 He made the utensils which were on the table, its [p]dishes and its pans and its offering bowls and its jars, with which to pour out drink offerings, of pure gold.

Making the Lampstand

17 (C)Then he made the lampstand of pure gold. He made the lampstand of hammered work, its base and its shaft; its cups, its [q]bulbs, and its flowers were [r]of the same piece. 18 There were six branches going out of its sides; three branches of the lampstand from the one side of it and three branches of the lampstand from the [s]other side of it; 19 three cups shaped like almond blossoms, a [t]bulb and a flower in one branch, and three cups shaped like almond blossoms, a [u]bulb and a flower in the other branch—so for the six branches coming out of the lampstand. 20 In the lampstand there were four cups shaped like almond blossoms, its [v]bulbs and its flowers; 21 and a [w]bulb was under the first pair of branches coming out of it, and a [x]bulb under the second pair of branches coming out of it, and a [y]bulb under the third pair of branches coming out of it, for the six branches coming out of the lampstand. 22 Their [z]bulbs and their branches were of one piece with it; the whole of it was a single hammered work of pure gold. 23 He made its seven lamps with its tongs and its [aa]trays of pure gold. 24 He made it and all its utensils from a [ab]talent of pure gold.

Making the Altar of Incense

25 (D)Then he made the altar of incense of acacia wood: a cubit [ac]long and a cubit [ad]wide, square, and two cubits [ae]high; its horns were of one piece with it. 26 He overlaid it with pure gold, its top and its [af]sides all around, and its horns; and he made a gold molding for it all around. 27 He made two golden rings for it under its molding, on its two sides—on opposite sides—as holders for poles with which to carry it. 28 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold. 29 (E)And he made the holy anointing oil and the pure, fragrant incense of spices, the work of a perfumer.

John 16

Jesus’ Warning

16 (A)These things I have spoken to you so that you may be kept from (B)stumbling. They will (C)put you out of the synagogue, but (D)an hour is coming for everyone (E)who kills you to think that he is offering service to God. These things they will do (F)because they did not know the Father or Me. But these things I have spoken to you, (G)so that when their hour comes, you [a]may remember that I told you of them. These things I did not say to you (H)at the beginning, because I was with you.

The Spirit Is Promised Again

“But now (I)I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘(J)Where are You going?’ But because I have said these things to you, (K)sorrow has filled your heart. But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the [b](L)Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, (M)I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, (N)because they do not believe in Me; 10 and concerning (O)righteousness, because (P)I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; 11 (Q)and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

12 “I still have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 But when He, (R)the Spirit of truth, comes, He will (S)guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak from Himself, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 He will (T)glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 (U)All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

Sorrow Turned to Joy

16 (V)A little while, and (W)you will no longer see Me; and again a little while, and (X)you will see Me.” 17 Some of His disciples then said to one another, “What is this He is telling us, (Y)A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me’; and, ‘because (Z)I go to the Father’?” 18 So they were saying, “What is this that He says, ‘A little while’? We do not know what He is talking about.” 19 (AA)Jesus knew that they were wishing to question Him, and He said to them, “Are you deliberating together about this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you will not see Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me’? 20 Truly, truly, I say to you, that (AB)you will cry and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but (AC)your sorrow will be turned into joy. 21 (AD)Whenever a woman is in labor she has sorrow, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the suffering because of the joy that a [c]child has been born into the world. 22 Therefore (AE)you too have sorrow now; but (AF)I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

I Have Overcome the World

23 (AG)And on that day (AH)you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, (AI)if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. 24 (AJ)Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your (AK)joy may be made complete.

25 “These things I have spoken to you in (AL)figures of speech; (AM)an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you openly of the Father. 26 (AN)On that day (AO)you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf; 27 for (AP)the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and (AQ)have believed that (AR)I came forth from the Father. 28 (AS)I came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and (AT)going to the Father.”

29 His disciples *said, “Behold, now You are speaking openly and are not [d]using (AU)a figure of speech. 30 Now we know that You know all things, and have no need for anyone to question You; by this we (AV)believe that You (AW)came from God.” 31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? 32 Behold, (AX)an hour is coming, and has already come, for (AY)you to be scattered, each to (AZ)his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet (BA)I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33 These things I have spoken to you, so that (BB)in Me you may have peace. (BC)In the world you have tribulation, but (BD)take courage; (BE)I have overcome the world.”

Proverbs 13

13 A (A)wise son accepts his father’s discipline,
But a (B)scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
From the fruit of a man’s mouth he (C)eats what is good,
But the soul of the treacherous desires (D)violence.
The one who (E)guards his mouth keeps his soul;
The one who (F)opens wide his lips [a]comes to ruin.
The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing,
But the soul of the diligent is enriched.
A righteous man (G)hates a lying word,
But a wicked man [b](H)acts odiously and is humiliated.
Righteousness (I)guards the [c]one whose way is blameless,
But wickedness subverts the [d]sinner.
There is one who (J)pretends to be rich, but has nothing;
Another [e]pretends to be (K)poor, but has great wealth.
The ransom of a man’s life is his wealth,
But the poor hears no rebuke.
The (L)light of the righteous is glad,
But the (M)lamp of the wicked goes out.
10 With arrogance [f]comes only quarreling,
But with those who receive counsel is wisdom.
11 Wealth obtained from empty effort dwindles,
But the one who gathers [g]with his hand abounds.
12 [h]Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
But desire [i]fulfilled is a tree of life.
13 The one who (N)despises the word will be [j]in debt to it,
But the one who fears the commandment will be (O)rewarded.
14 The [k]instruction of the wise is a (P)fountain of life,
To turn aside from the (Q)snares of death.
15 (R)Good insight gives grace,
But the way of the treacherous is [l]unrelenting.
16 Every (S)prudent man acts with knowledge,
But a fool spreads out folly.
17 A wicked messenger falls into evil,
But (T)a faithful envoy brings healing.
18 Poverty and disgrace come to him who (U)neglects [m]discipline,
But he who keeps reproof will be honored.
19 Desire realized is pleasant to the soul,
But it is an abomination to fools to turn away from evil.
20 (V)He who walks with the wise will be wise,
But the friend of fools will suffer harm.
21 (W)Evil pursues sinners,
But the (X)righteous are repaid with good.
22 A good man (Y)leaves an inheritance to his [n]children’s children,
And the (Z)wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.
23 (AA)Abundant food is in the fallow ground of the poor,
But [o]it is swept away by injustice.
24 He who (AB)holds back his [p]rod hates his son,
But he who loves him [q](AC)disciplines him diligently.
25 The (AD)righteous eats to the satisfaction of his soul,
But the stomach of the (AE)wicked lacks.

Ephesians 6

Children and Parents

(A)Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. (B)Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long in the land.

(C)Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but (D)bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

(E)Slaves, be obedient to those who are your [a]masters according to the flesh, with (F)fear and trembling, in the [b]integrity of your heart, (G)as to Christ; (H)not [c]by way of eyeservice, as (I)men-pleasers, but as (J)slaves of Christ, (K)doing the will of God from the [d]heart, serving with good will (L)as to the Lord, and not to men, (M)knowing that (N)whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, (O)whether slave or free.

And masters, do the same things to them, (P)giving up threatening, knowing that (Q)both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is (R)no partiality with Him.

The Armor of God

10 Finally, (S)be strong in the Lord and in (T)the might of His strength. 11 (U)Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the (V)schemes of the devil. 12 For our (W)struggle is not against [e](X)flesh and blood, but (Y)against the rulers, against the authorities, against the (Z)world forces of this (AA)darkness, against the (AB)spiritual forces of wickedness in (AC)the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up (AD)the full armor of God, so that you will be able to (AE)resist in (AF)the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, (AG)having girded your loins with truth, and having (AH)put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having (AI)shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. 16 [f]In addition to all, having taken up the (AJ)shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the (AK)flaming arrows of (AL)the evil one, 17 also receive (AM)the helmet of salvation, and the (AN)sword of the Spirit, which is (AO)the word of God,

18 (AP)praying at all times [g]with all (AQ)prayer and petition (AR)in the Spirit, and to this end, (AS)being on the alert with all (AT)perseverance and (AU)petition for all the saints, 19 as well as (AV)on my behalf, that [h]words may be given to me (AW)in the opening of my mouth, to make known with (AX)boldness (AY)the mystery of the gospel— 20 for which I am an (AZ)ambassador (BA)in [i]chains—so that [j]in proclaiming it I may speak (BB)boldly, (BC)as I ought to speak.

21 (BD)But that you also may know about all my affairs, [k]how I am doing, (BE)Tychicus, (BF)the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make everything known to you. 22 [l](BG)I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know [m]our circumstances, and that he may (BH)encourage your hearts.

23 (BI)Peace be to the brothers, and (BJ)love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ [n]with incorruptible love.
