M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
Amaziah Reigns over Judah
14 (A)In the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel, (B)Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah became king. 2 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem. 3 And he did what was right in the sight of Yahweh, yet not like David his father; he did according to all that Joash his father had done. 4 Only (C)the high places were not taken away; (D)the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places. 5 Now it happened as soon as the kingdom was strong in his hand, that he (E)struck down his servants who had struck down the king his father. 6 But the sons of those who struck him down he did not put to death, according to what is written in the book of the Law of Moses, which Yahweh commanded, saying, “(F)Fathers shall not be put to death for their sons, nor sons be put to death for their fathers; but (G)each shall be put to death for his own sin.”
7 He struck down 10,000 of Edom in (H)the Valley of Salt and seized (I)Sela by war and named it (J)Joktheel to this day.
8 (K)Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “(L)Come, let us face each other.” 9 And Jehoash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, “(M)The thorn bush which was in Lebanon sent to the cedar which was in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son as a wife.’ But a beast of the field that was in Lebanon passed by and trampled the thorn bush. 10 (N)You have indeed struck down Edom, and (O)your heart has lifted you up. Enjoy your glory and stay at home; for why should you provoke calamity so that you, even you, would fall, and Judah with you?”
11 But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at (P)Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah. 12 And Judah was [a]defeated by Israel, and (Q)they fled each to his tent. 13 Then Jehoash king of Israel seized Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from (R)the Gate of Ephraim to (S)the Corner Gate, [b]400 cubits. 14 (T)And he took all the gold and silver and all the utensils which were found in the house of Yahweh, and in the treasuries of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
15 (U)Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 16 So Jehoash slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son became king in his place.
17 (V)And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel. 18 Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 19 And they conspired against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to (W)Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and put him to death there. 20 Then they carried him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David. 21 And all the people of Judah took [c]Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah. 22 (X)He built Elath and restored it to Judah after the king slept with his fathers.
Jeroboam II Reigns over Israel
23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel became king in Samaria and reigned forty-one years. 24 And he did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh; he did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel sin. 25 (Y)He restored the border of Israel from [d](Z)Lebo-hamath as far as (AA)the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word of Yahweh, the God of Israel, which He spoke [e]through His servant (AB)Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of (AC)Gath-hepher. 26 For (AD)Yahweh saw the affliction of Israel, which was very bitter; for (AE)there was neither bond nor free, nor was there any helper for Israel. 27 (AF)But Yahweh did not say that He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
Zechariah Reigns over Israel
28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam and all that he did and his might, how he fought and how he restored (AG)Damascus and (AH)Hamath to Judah in Israel, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel, and Zechariah his son became king in his place.
Preach the Word
4 (A)I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to (B)judge the living and the dead, and by His (C)appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach (D)the word; be ready in season and out of season; (E)reprove, rebuke, exhort, with [a]great (F)patience and teaching. 3 For (G)the time will come when they will not endure (H)sound doctrine, but wanting to have [b]their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and (I)will turn away their ears from the truth and (J)will turn aside to myths.
5 But you, (K)be sober in all things, (L)endure hardship, do the work of an (M)evangelist, fulfill your (N)ministry.
6 For I am already being (O)poured out as a drink offering, and the time of (P)my departure has come. 7 (Q)I have fought the good fight, I have finished (R)the course, I have kept (S)the faith. 8 In the future there (T)is laid up for me (U)the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on (V)that day, and not only to me, but also to (W)all who have loved His (X)appearing.
Personal Concerns
9 (Y)Be diligent to come to me soon, 10 for (Z)Demas, having loved (AA)this present age, has deserted me and gone to (AB)Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to [c](AC)Galatia, (AD)Titus to Dalmatia. 11 (AE)Only (AF)Luke is with me. Pick up (AG)Mark and bring him with you, (AH)for he is useful to me for service. 12 But (AI)Tychicus I sent to (AJ)Ephesus. 13 When you come bring the cloak which I left at (AK)Troas with Carpus, and the scrolls, especially the parchments. 14 (AL)Alexander the coppersmith showed me much harm; (AM)the Lord will award him according to his deeds. 15 Be on guard against him yourself, for he vigorously opposed our words.
16 At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me. (AN)May it not be counted against them. 17 But the Lord stood with me and (AO)strengthened me, so that through me (AP)the preaching might be (AQ)fulfilled, and that all (AR)the Gentiles might hear. And I was (AS)rescued out of (AT)the lion’s mouth. 18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will (AU)save me unto His (AV)heavenly kingdom; (AW)to [d]Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
19 Greet Prisca and (AX)Aquila, and (AY)the household of Onesiphorus. 20 (AZ)Erastus remained at (BA)Corinth, but (BB)Trophimus I left sick at (BC)Miletus. 21 (BD)Be diligent to come before (BE)winter. Eubulus greets you, also Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brothers.
22 (BF)The Lord be with your spirit. (BG)Grace be with [e]all of you.
7 When I (A)would heal Israel,
Then the iniquity of Ephraim is uncovered,
And the evil deeds of Samaria,
For they work (B)falsehood;
The thief enters in;
(C)Raiders [a]ransack outside,
2 And they do not say to their hearts
That I (D)remember all their evil.
Now their (E)deeds are all around them;
They are before My face.
3 (F)With their evil they make the (G)king glad,
And the princes with their (H)deceptions.
4 They are (I)all adulterers,
Like an oven heated by the baker
Who ceases to stir up the fire
From the kneading of the dough until it is leavened.
5 On the [b]day of our king, the princes (J)became sick with the heat of wine;
He stretched out his hand with (K)scoffers,
6 For their hearts are like an (L)oven
As they draw near in their [c]plotting;
Their [d]anger [e]smolders all night;
In the morning it burns like a flaming fire.
7 All of them are hot like an oven,
And they devour their (M)judges;
All their kings have fallen.
(N)None of them calls on Me.
8 Ephraim (O)mixes himself with the peoples;
Ephraim has become a cake not turned.
9 (P)Strangers devour his power,
Yet he (Q)does not know it;
Gray hairs also are sprinkled on him,
Yet he does not know it.
10 So the (R)pride of Israel answers against him,
Yet (S)they have not returned to Yahweh their God,
Nor have they sought Him, for all this.
11 So (T)Ephraim has become like a silly dove, (U)without a heart of wisdom;
They call to (V)Egypt; they go to (W)Assyria.
12 When they go, I will (X)spread My net over them;
I will bring them down like the birds of the sky.
I will (Y)chastise them in accordance with the report to their congregation.
13 (Z)Woe to them, for they have (AA)fled from Me!
Destruction is theirs, for they have transgressed against Me!
And I (AB)would redeem them, but they speak lies against Me.
14 And (AC)they do not cry out to Me in their heart
When they wail on their beds;
For the sake of grain and new wine they [f](AD)gather together as sojourners;
They (AE)depart from Me.
15 Although I disciplined and strengthened their arms,
Yet they (AF)devise evil against Me.
16 They turn, but not [g]upward;
They are like a (AG)deceitful bow;
Their princes will fall by the sword
Because of the [h](AH)indignation of their tongue.
This will be their (AI)scoffing in the land of Egypt.
O Yahweh, Deliver My Soul
A Song of [a]Ascents.
120 (A)In my distress I called to Yahweh,
And He answered me.
2 O Yahweh, deliver my soul from a (B)lying lip,
From a (C)deceitful tongue.
3 What shall He give to you, and what shall He add to you,
O (D)deceitful tongue?
4 (E)Sharp arrows of the warrior,
With the burning (F)coals of the broom tree.
5 Woe is me, for I sojourn in (G)Meshech,
For I dwell among the (H)tents of (I)Kedar!
6 Too long has my soul had its dwelling
With those who (J)hate peace.
7 I (K)am for peace, but when I speak,
They are (L)for war.
My Help Comes from Yahweh
A Song of Ascents.
121 I will (M)lift up my eyes to (N)the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
2 My (O)help comes from Yahweh,
Who (P)made heaven and earth.
3 [b]He will not (Q)allow your foot to stumble;
[c]He who (R)keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will not slumber and will not sleep.
5 Yahweh is your (S)keeper;
Yahweh is your (T)shade on your right hand.
6 The (U)sun will not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
7 Yahweh will (V)keep you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
8 Yahweh will (W)keep your going out and your coming in
(X)From now until forever.
Go to the House of Yahweh
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
122 I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us (Y)go to the house of Yahweh.”
2 Our feet are standing
Within your (Z)gates, O Jerusalem,
3 Jerusalem, which is (AA)built
As a city (AB)joined altogether;
4 To which the tribes, the tribes of Yah, (AC)go up—
A testimony for Israel—
To give thanks to the name of Yahweh.
5 For there, (AD)thrones sit for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the (AE)peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who (AF)love you.
7 May peace be within your (AG)walls,
And tranquility within your (AH)palaces.”
8 For the sake of my (AI)brothers and my friends,
I will now say, “(AJ)May peace be within you.”
9 For the sake of the house of Yahweh our God,
I will (AK)seek your good.
