Abijam Reigns over Judah
15 (A)Now in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, Abijam became king over Judah. 2 He reigned three years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was [a](B)Maacah the daughter of [b](C)Abishalom. 3 And he walked in all the sins of his father which he had committed before him; and (D)his heart was not [c]wholly devoted to Yahweh his God, like the heart of his father David. 4 But for David’s sake Yahweh his God gave him a (E)lamp in Jerusalem, to raise up his son after him and to establish Jerusalem; 5 (F)because David did what was right in the sight of Yahweh, and had not turned aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, (G)except in the case of Uriah the Hittite. 6 (H)Now there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
7 Now (I)the rest of the acts of Abijam and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? (J)And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam. 8 (K)And Abijam slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son became king in his place.
Asa Reigns over Judah
9 Now in the twentieth year of Jeroboam the king of Israel, Asa began to reign as king of Judah. 10 And he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem; and (L)his mother’s name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom. 11 (M)And Asa did what was right in the sight of Yahweh, like David his father. 12 (N)He also put away the male cult prostitutes from the land and (O)removed all the idols which his fathers had made. 13 [d](P)He also removed Maacah his mother from being queen mother, because she had made a horrid image [e]for Asherah; and Asa cut down her horrid image and (Q)burned it at the brook Kidron. 14 (R)But the high places were not removed; nevertheless (S)the heart of Asa was [f]wholly devoted to Yahweh all his days. 15 (T)And he brought into the house of Yahweh the holy things of his father and his own holy things: silver and gold and utensils.
Asa Wars Against Baasha
16 (U)Now there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days. 17 (V)And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and (W)built up Ramah (X)in order to prevent anyone from going out or coming in to Asa king of Judah. 18 Then (Y)Asa took all the silver and the gold which were left in the treasuries of the house of Yahweh and the treasuries of the king’s house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants. And (Z)King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Aram, who lived in (AA)Damascus, saying, 19 “Let there be a (AB)covenant between [g]you and me, as between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you a gift of silver and gold; go, break your covenant with Baasha king of Israel so that he will withdraw from me.” 20 So Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his military force against the cities of Israel, and struck down (AC)Ijon, (AD)Dan, (AE)Abel-beth-maacah and all (AF)Chinneroth, besides all the land of Naphtali. 21 Now it happened that when Baasha heard of it, (AG)he ceased building up Ramah and remained in (AH)Tirzah. 22 Then King Asa caused an announcement to be heard throughout all Judah—none was exempt—and they carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber with which Baasha had been building. And King Asa built with them (AI)Geba of Benjamin and Mizpah.
23 (AJ)Now the rest of all the acts of Asa and all his might and all that he did and the cities which he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet. 24 And Asa slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; and (AK)Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place.
Nadab Reigns over Israel
25 Now (AL)Nadab the son of Jeroboam became king over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and he reigned over Israel two years. 26 And he did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and (AM)walked in the way of his father and (AN)in his sin which he made Israel sin. 27 Then (AO)Baasha the son of Ahijah of the house of Issachar conspired against him, and Baasha struck him down at (AP)Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, while Nadab and all Israel were laying siege to Gibbethon.
28 So Baasha put him to death in the third year of Asa king of Judah and became king in his place. 29 Now it happened that as soon as he was king, he struck down all the household of Jeroboam. He did not leave to Jeroboam anyone who drew breath, until he had destroyed them, (AQ)according to the word of Yahweh, which He spoke by the hand of His servant Ahijah the Shilonite, 30 and because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and (AR)which he made Israel sin, because of his provocation with which he provoked Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger.
31 (AS)Now the rest of the acts of Nadab and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 32 (AT)Now there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.
Baasha Reigns over Israel
33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah, Baasha the son of Ahijah became king over all Israel at Tirzah, and reigned twenty-four years. 34 And he did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and (AU)walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin which he made Israel sin.
Alive with Christ
2 For I want you to understand how great a (A)struggle I have on your behalf and for those who are at (B)Laodicea, and for all those who have not seen my face in the flesh, 2 so that their (C)hearts may be encouraged, having been (D)held together in love, even unto all (E)the wealth of the full assurance of understanding, unto the (F)full knowledge of (G)God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself, 3 in whom are hidden all (H)the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 (I)I say this so that no one will delude you with (J)persuasive argument. 5 For even though I am (K)absent in body, nevertheless I am with you in spirit, rejoicing [a]to see your (L)good order and the (M)stability of your faith in Christ.
6 Therefore as you received (N)Christ Jesus the Lord, so [b](O)walk in Him, 7 having been firmly (P)rooted and being (Q)built up in Him, and having been (R)established [c]in your faith—just as you (S)were instructed—and abounding [d]with thanksgiving.
8 (T)See to it that no one takes you captive through (U)philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the (V)elementary principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him all the (W)fullness of Deity dwells bodily, 10 and in Him you have been (X)filled, (Y)who is the head [e]over all (Z)rule and authority; 11 in whom (AA)you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of (AB)the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been (AC)buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also (AD)raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who (AE)raised Him from the dead. 13 And you being (AF)dead [f]in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He (AG)made you alive with Him, having graciously forgiven us all our transgressions. 14 Having canceled out (AH)the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us which was hostile to us, (AI)He also has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having [g](AJ)disarmed the (AK)rulers and authorities, He (AL)made a public display of them, having (AM)triumphed over them in [h]Him.
16 Therefore, no one is to (AN)judge you in (AO)food and (AP)drink, or in respect to a (AQ)festival or a (AR)new moon or a (AS)Sabbath [i]day— 17 things which are only a (AT)shadow of what is to come; but the [j]substance [k]belongs to Christ. 18 Let no one keep [l](AU)defrauding you of your prize by (AV)delighting in [m]self-abasement and the worship of the angels, going into detail about visions he has seen, (AW)being puffed up for nothing by his (AX)fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to (AY)the head, from whom (AZ)the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and [n]ligaments, grows with a growth [o]that is from God.
20 (BA)If you have died with Christ [p]to the (BB)elementary principles of the world, (BC)why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to (BD)decrees: 21 “Do not handle, nor taste, nor touch”? 22 Which [q]deal with everything (BE)destined to perish [r]with use, which are in accordance with the (BF)commands and teachings of men; 23 which are matters having, to be sure, a [s]word of wisdom in [t](BG)self-made religion and self-abasement and (BH)severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against (BI)fleshly indulgence.
Yahweh’s Portion of the Land
45 “And when you (A)divide by lot the land for inheritance, you shall offer a (B)contribution to Yahweh, a (C)holy portion of the land; the length shall be the length of [a]25,000 (D)cubits, and the width shall be [b]20,000. It shall be holy within all its boundary round about. 2 Out of this there shall be for the holy place a square round about [c](E)five hundred by five hundred cubits, and [d]fifty cubits for its [e](F)open space round about. 3 And from this [f]area you shall measure a length of 25,000 cubits and a width of [g]10,000 cubits; and in it shall be the sanctuary, the Holy of Holies. 4 It shall be the holy portion of the land; it shall be for the (G)priests, the ministers of the sanctuary, who (H)come near to minister to Yahweh, and it shall be a place for their houses and a holy place for the sanctuary. 5 And an area (I)25,000 cubits in length and 10,000 in width shall be for the Levites, the ministers of the house, and for their possession as [h]cities to dwell in.
6 “And you shall give the (J)city possession of an area [i]5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, alongside the contribution of the holy portion; it shall be for the whole house of Israel.
The Prince’s Portion of the Land
7 “Now the (K)prince shall have land on either side of the holy contribution and the city’s possession of land, adjacent to the holy contribution and the city’s possession of land, on the west side toward the west and on the east side toward the east, and in length comparable to one of the portions, from the west border to the east border. 8 This shall be his land for a possession in Israel; so My princes shall no longer (L)mistreat My people, but they shall give the rest of the land to the house of Israel (M)according to their tribes.”
9 ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “(N)Enough, you princes of Israel; put away (O)violence and devastation, and (P)do justice and righteousness. Stop your (Q)eviction of My people,” declares Lord Yahweh.
10 “You shall have (R)just balances, a just [j](S)ephah, and a just [k](T)bath. 11 The ephah and the bath shall be [l]the same quantity so that the bath will contain a tenth of a [m](U)homer and the ephah a tenth of a homer; [n]their standard shall be according to the homer. 12 And the [o](V)shekel shall be twenty [p](W)gerahs; twenty shekels, twenty-five shekels, and fifteen shekels shall be your [q]maneh.
13 “This is the contribution that you shall offer: a sixth of an ephah from a homer of wheat, a sixth of an ephah from a homer of barley, 14 and the statute for the oil (namely, the [r]bath of oil), a tenth of a bath from each [s]kor (which is ten baths or a homer, for ten baths are a homer), 15 and one sheep from each flock of two hundred from the watering places of Israel—for a (X)grain offering, for a burnt offering, and for peace offerings, to (Y)make atonement for them,” declares Lord Yahweh. 16 “(Z)All the people of the land shall [t]give to this contribution for the (AA)prince in Israel. 17 And it shall be the (AB)prince’s part to provide the (AC)burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the drink offerings, at the (AD)feasts, on the (AE)new moons, and on the sabbaths, at all the appointed times of the house of Israel; he shall [u]provide the sin offering, the grain offering, the burnt offering, and the (AF)peace offerings, to make atonement for the house of Israel.”
18 ‘Thus says Lord Yahweh, “In the (AG)first month, on the first of the month, you shall take a bull from the herd (AH)without blemish and (AI)purify the sanctuary. 19 The priest shall take some of the blood from the sin offering and put it on the door posts of the house, on the (AJ)four corners of the (AK)ledge of the altar, and on the posts of the gate of the inner court. 20 And thus you shall do on the seventh day of the month for everyone who (AL)errs or is simpleminded; so you shall make (AM)atonement for the house.
21 “In the (AN)first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, you shall have the (AO)Passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten. 22 And on that day the prince shall provide for himself and all the people of the land a (AP)bull for a sin offering. 23 And during the (AQ)seven days of the feast he shall provide as a (AR)burnt offering to Yahweh (AS)seven bulls and seven rams without blemish on every day of the seven days, and a male goat daily for a sin offering. 24 And he shall provide as a (AT)grain offering an ephah [v]with a bull, an ephah [w]with a ram, and a [x]hin of oil [y]with an ephah. 25 In the (AU)seventh month, on the fifteenth day of the month, at the feast, he shall provide like this, seven days [z]for the sin offering, the burnt offering, the grain offering, and the oil.”
Holy Is Yahweh Our God
99 (A)Yahweh reigns, let the peoples tremble;
He (B)sits enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth quake!
2 Yahweh is (C)great in Zion,
And He is (D)exalted above all the peoples.
3 Let them praise Your (E)great and awesome name;
(F)Holy is [a]He.
4 [b]The strength of the King (G)loves [c]justice;
You have established [d](H)equity;
You have (I)done [e]justice and righteousness in Jacob.
5 (J)Exalt Yahweh our God
And (K)worship at the footstool of His feet;
(L)Holy is He.
6 (M)Moses and Aaron were among His (N)priests,
And (O)Samuel was among those who (P)called on His name;
They (Q)would call upon Yahweh and He would answer them.
7 He (R)would speak to them in the pillar of cloud;
They (S)kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
8 O Yahweh our God, You (T)answered them;
You were a (U)forgiving God to them,
And yet an (V)avenger of their evil deeds.
9 Exalt Yahweh our God
And worship at His holy mountain,
For holy is Yahweh our God.
Serve Yahweh with Gladness
A Psalm of [f]Thanksgiving.
100 (W)Make a loud shout to Yahweh, all the earth.
2 (X)Serve Yahweh with gladness;
(Y)Come before Him with joyful songs.
3 Know that (Z)Yahweh, He is God;
It is He who has (AA)made us, and [g]not we ourselves;
We are (AB)His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates (AC)with [h]thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, (AD)bless His name.
5 For (AE)Yahweh is good;
(AF)His lovingkindness endures forever
And His (AG)faithfulness, generation unto generation.
Consider the Way of the Blameless
Of David. A Psalm.
101 I will (AH)sing of lovingkindness and [i]justice,
To You, O Yahweh, I will sing praises.
2 I will [j](AI)consider the way of the blameless.
When will You come to me?
I will walk within my house in the [k](AJ)integrity of my heart.
3 I will set no (AK)vile thing before my eyes;
I hate the [l]work of those who (AL)fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
4 A (AM)crooked heart shall depart from me;
I will know no evil.
5 Whoever secretly (AN)slanders his neighbor, him I will [m]destroy;
Whoever has a (AO)haughty look and an arrogant heart, I will not endure.
6 My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may abide with me;
He who walks in the (AP)way of the blameless is the one who will minister to me.
7 He who (AQ)practices deceit shall not dwell within my house;
He who speaks lies (AR)shall not be established before my eyes.
8 (AS)Every morning I will [n](AT)destroy all the wicked of the land,
To (AU)cut off from the (AV)city of Yahweh all the workers of iniquity.
