¹⁷ But ^(A)Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him, and struck the Philistine and put him to death. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, “^(B)You shall not go out again with us to battle, so that you do not extinguish ^(C)the lamp of Israel.”

³⁶ But ^(A)to his son I will give one tribe, ^(B)that My servant David may have a lamp always before Me in Jerusalem, ^(C)the city where I have chosen for Myself to put My name.

⁷ However, Yahweh was not willing to make the house of David a ruin because of the covenant which He had cut with David, ^(A)and since He had promised to give a lamp to him and his sons forever.
