Haggai
1 1 The time of the Prophecy of Haggai. 8 An exhortation to build the Temple again.
1 In the second year of king [a]Darius, in the sixth month, the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord (by the ministry of the Prophet Haggai) unto [b]Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, a prince of Judah, and to Jehoshua the son of Jehozadak the high Priest, saying,
2 Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, This people say, the time is not yet come, [c]that the Lord’s house should be built.
3 Then came the word of the Lord by the ministry of the Prophet Haggai, saying,
4 Is it time for yourselves to dwell in your [d]ceiled houses, and this house lie waste?
5 Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Consider your own ways in your hearts.
6 [e]Ye have sown much, and bring in little: ye eat, but ye have not enough: ye drink, but ye are not filled: ye clothe you, but ye be not warm: and he that earneth wages, putteth the wages into a broken bag.
7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Consider your own ways in your hearts.
8 Go [f]up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build this House, and [g]I will be favorable in it, and I will [h]be glorified, saith the Lord.
9 Ye looked for much, and lo, it came to little: and when ye brought it home, I did blow [i]upon it. And why, saith the Lord of hosts? Because of mine House that is waste, and ye turn every man unto his own house.
10 Therefore the heaven over you stayed itself from dew, and the earth stayed her fruit.
11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, upon all that the ground bringeth forth: both upon men and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the hands.
12 When Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high Priest, with all the remnant of the people, heard the [j]voice of the Lord their God, and the words of the Prophet Haggai (as the Lord their God had sent him) then the people did fear before the Lord.
13 Then spake Haggai the Lord’s messenger in the Lord’s message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the Lord.
14 And the Lord stirred up [k]the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, a prince of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high Priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came, and did the work in the House of the Lord of hosts their God.
2 He showeth that the glory of the second Temple shall exceed the first.

2 In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the Lord by the ministry of the Prophet Haggai, saying,
3 Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel prince of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high Priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,
4 Who is left among you that saw this [l]House in her first glory, and how do you see it now? is it not in your eyes, in comparison of it as nothing?
5 Yet now be of good courage, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord, and be of good comfort, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak the high Priest: and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and [m]do it: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts.
6 According to the word that I covenanted with you, when ye came out of Egypt: so my Spirit shall remain among you, fear ye not.
7 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, [n]Yet a little while, and I will shake the heavens and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land:
8 And I will move all nations, and [o]the desire of all nations shall come, and I will fill this House with glory, saith the Lord of hosts.
9 The [p]silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.
10 The glory of this last House shall be greater than the first, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give [q]peace, saith the Lord of hosts.
11 ¶ In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the Lord unto the Prophet Haggai, saying,
12 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Ask now the Priests concerning the Law, and say,
13 If one bear [r]holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch the bread or the pottage, or the wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the Priests answered and said, No.
14 Then said Haggai, If a polluted person touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the Priests answered, and said, It shall be unclean.
15 Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the Lord: and so are all the works of their hands, and that which they offer here, is unclean.
16 And now, I pray you, consider in your minds: from this [s]day and afore, even afore a stone was laid upon a stone in the Temple of the Lord:
17 [t]Before these things were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the winepress, for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.
18 I smote you with blasting, and with mildew, and with hail, in all the labors of your hands: yet you turned not to me, saith the Lord.
19 Consider, I pray you, in your minds, from [u]this day, and afore, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the Lord’s Temple was laid: consider it in your minds.
20 Is the [v]seed yet in the barn? as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.
21 And again the word of the Lord came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,
22 Speak to Zerubbabel the prince of Judah, and say, I [w]will shake the heavens and the earth.
23 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the [x]kingdoms of the heathen, and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them, and the horse and the riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
24 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the Lord, and will make thee as a [y]signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the Lord of hosts.
11 1 The temple is commanded to be measured. 3 The Lord stirred up two witnesses, 7 whom the beast murdereth, 9 and no man burieth them. 11 God raiseth them to life, 12 and calleth them up to heaven, 13 the wicked are terrified, 15 by the trumpet of the seventh Angel the resurrection, 18 and judgment is described.
1 [a]Then was given me a reed like unto a rod, and the Angel stood by, saying, Rise and [b]mete the Temple of God, and the Altar, and them that worship therein.
2 [c]But the [d]Court which is without the Temple [e]cast out, and mete it not: for it is given unto the [f]Gentiles, and the holy city shall they tread under foot, [g]two and forty Months.
3 But [h]I will give power unto my two witnesses and they shall [i]prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4 These [j]are two olive trees, and two candlesticks, standing before the God of the earth.
5 [k]And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouths and devoureth their enemies: for if any man would hurt them, thus must he be killed.
6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophesying, and have power over waters to turn them into blood, and to smite the earth with all manner plagues, as often as they will.
7 [l]And when they have [m]finished their testimony, [n]the beast that cometh out of the bottomless pit, shall make war against them, and shall [o]overcome them, and kill them,
8 And their corpses shall lie in the [p]streets of the great city, which [q]spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, [r]where our Lord also was crucified.
9 And they of the people and kindreds, and tongues, and Gentiles, shall see their corpses [s]three days and an half, and shall not suffer their carcasses to be put in graves.
10 And they that dwell upon the earth, [t]shall rejoice over them and be glad, and shall send gifts one to another, for these two Prophets [u]vexed them that dwelt on the earth.
11 [v]But after [w]three days and an half, [x]the spirit of life coming from God, shall enter into them, and they [y]shall stand up upon their feet: and great fear shall come upon them which saw them.
12 And they shall hear a great voice from heaven, saying unto them, [z]Come up hither: And they shall ascend up to heaven in a cloud, [aa]and their enemies shall see them.
13 [ab]And the same hour shall there be a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city shall fall, and in the earthquake shall be slain in number seven thousand: and the remnant were sore feared, [ac]and [ad]gave glory to God of heaven.
14 [ae]The second woe is past, and behold, the third woe will come anon.
15 [af]And the seventh Angel blew the trumpet, and there were great voices in heaven, saying, [ag]The kingdoms of the world are our Lord’s, and his Christ’s, and he shall reign for evermore.
16 [ah]Then the four and twenty Elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces and worshipped God.
17 Saying, We give thee thanks, Lord God Almighty, Which art, and which wast, and which art to come: for thou hast received thy great might, and hast obtained thy kingdom.
18 [ai]And the Gentiles were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the Prophets, and to thy Saints, and to them that fear thy Name, to small and great, and shouldest destroy them, which destroy the earth.
19 Then the Temple of God was [aj]opened in heaven, and there was seen in the Temple the Ark of his covenant: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and earthquake, and much hail.
139 1 David cleanseth his heart from all hypocrisy, showeth that there is nothing so hid, which God seeth not. 13 Which he confirmeth by the creation of man. 14 After declaring his zeal and fear of God, he professeth to be enemy to all them that contemn God.

1 O Lord, thou hast tried me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my [a]sitting and my rising: thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou [b]compassest my paths, and my lying down, and art accustomed to all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my [c]tongue, but lo, thou knowest it wholly, O Lord.
5 Thou holdest me strait behind and before, and layest thine [d]hand upon me.
6 Thy knowledge is too wonderful for me: it is so high that I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy [e]Spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend into heaven, thou art there: if I lie down in hell, thou art there.
9 Let me take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea:
10 Yet thither shall thine hand [f]lead me, and thy right hand hold me.
11 If I say, Yet the darkness shall hide me, even the night shall be [g]light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee: but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and light are both alike.
13 For thou hast [h]possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise thee, for I am [i]fearfully and wondrously made: marvelous are thy works, and my soul knoweth it well.
15 My bones are not hid from thee, though I was made in a secret place, and fashioned [j]beneath in the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see me, when I was without form: [k]for in thy book were all things written, which in continuance were fashioned, when there was none of them before.
17 How [l]dear therefore are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more than the sand: when I awake, [m]I am still with thee.
19 Oh that thou wouldest [slay], O God, the wicked and bloody men, to whom I say, Depart ye from me:
20 Which speak wickedly of thee, and being thine enemies are lifted up in vain.
21 Do not I [n]hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and do not I earnestly contend with those that rise up against thee?
22 I hate them with an unfeigned hatred, as they were mine utter enemies.
23 Try me, O God, and know mine heart: prove me and know my thoughts,
24 And consider if there be any [o]way of wickedness in me, and lead me in the [p]way forever.
15 The horseleech hath two [a]daughters which cry, Give, give. There be three things that will not be satisfied: yea, four that say not, It is enough.
16 The grave, and the barren womb, the earth, that cannot be satisfied with water, and the fire that saith not, It is enough.
