Psalm 65-67

Blessed Is the One Whom You Choose

For the choir director. A Psalm of David. A Song.

65 To You, there will be silence and praise in Zion, O God,
And to You the (A)vow will be paid.
O You who hear prayer,
To You (B)all flesh comes.
(C)Words of iniquity prevail against me;
As for our transgressions, You (D)atone for them.
How (E)blessed is the one whom You (F)choose and bring near to You
That he would dwell in Your courts.
We will be (G)satisfied with the goodness of Your house,
Your holy temple.

By [a](H)fearsome deeds You answer us in righteousness, O (I)God of our salvation,
You who are the trust of all the (J)ends of the earth and of the farthest [b](K)sea;
Who (L)establishes the mountains by His strength,
Being (M)girded with might;
Who (N)stills the rumbling of the seas,
The rumbling of their waves,
And the (O)tumult of the peoples.
They who inhabit the (P)ends of the earth are in fear on account of Your signs;
You make [c]the dawn and the sunset shout for joy.

You visit the earth and (Q)cause it to overflow;
You greatly (R)enrich it;
The [d](S)stream of God is full of water;
You establish their (T)grain, for thus You establish [e]the earth.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
You smooth its ridges,
You soften it (U)with showers,
You bless its growth.
11 You crown the year [f]with Your (V)goodness,
And Your [g]paths (W)drip with richness.
12 (X)The pastures of the wilderness drip,
And the (Y)hills gird themselves with rejoicing.
13 The meadows are (Z)clothed with flocks
And the valleys are (AA)covered with grain;
They (AB)make a loud shout, indeed, they sing.

Come and See the Works of God

For the choir director. A Song. A Psalm.

66 (AC)Make a loud shout to God, all the earth;
Sing praise for the (AD)glory of His name;
Establish His (AE)praise as glorious.
Say to God, “How [h](AF)fearsome are Your works!
Because of the abundance of Your strength Your enemies will [i](AG)cower before You.
(AH)All the earth will worship You,
And will (AI)sing praises to You;
They will sing praises to Your name.” [j]Selah.

(AJ)Come and see the works of God,
Who is (AK)fearsome in His deeds toward the sons of men.
He (AL)turned the sea into dry land;
They passed through (AM)the river on foot;
There let us (AN)be glad in Him!
He (AO)rules by His might forever;
His (AP)eyes keep watch on the nations;
Let not the rebellious (AQ)exalt themselves. Selah.

Bless our God, O peoples,
And [k](AR)make the sound of His praise heard,
Who [l](AS)establishes us among the living
And (AT)does not allow our feet to stumble.
10 For You have (AU)tested us, O God;
You have (AV)refined us as silver is refined.
11 You (AW)brought us into the net;
You established an oppressive burden upon our loins.
12 You made men (AX)ride over our heads;
We went through (AY)fire and through water,
Yet You (AZ)brought us out into a place of abundance.
13 I shall (BA)come into Your house with burnt offerings;
I shall (BB)pay You my vows,
14 Which my lips uttered
And my mouth spoke when I was (BC)in distress.
15 I shall (BD)offer to You burnt offerings of fat beasts,
With the smoke of (BE)rams;
I shall make an offering of [m]bulls with male goats. Selah.

16 (BF)Come and hear, all who [n]fear God,
And I will (BG)recount what He has done for my soul.
17 I called out to Him with my mouth,
And [o]He was (BH)exalted with my tongue.
18 If I [p](BI)see wickedness in my heart,
The (BJ)Lord [q]will not [r]hear;
19 But certainly (BK)God has heard;
He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.
20 (BL)Blessed be God,
Who (BM)has not turned away my prayer
Nor His lovingkindness from me.

Cause Your Face to Shine upon Us

For the choir director. With stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song.

67 God be gracious to us and (BN)bless us,
And (BO)cause His face to shine [s]upon us— [t]Selah.
That (BP)Your way may be known on the earth,
(BQ)Your salvation among all nations.
Let the (BR)peoples praise You, O God;
Let all the peoples praise You.
Let the (BS)nations be glad and sing for joy;
For You will (BT)judge the peoples with uprightness
And (BU)lead the nations on the earth. Selah.
Let the (BV)peoples praise You, O God;
Let all the peoples praise You.
The (BW)earth has yielded its produce;
God, our God, (BX)blesses us.
God blesses us,
[u]That (BY)all the ends of the earth may fear Him.

Psalm 69-70

Save Me, O God

For the choir director. According to [a]Shoshannim. Of David.

69 Save me, O God,
For the (A)waters have [b]threatened my life.
I have sunk in deep (B)clay, and there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters, and a [c](C)flood overflows me.
I am (D)weary with my calling out; my throat is parched;
My (E)eyes fail while I wait for my God.
Those (F)who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head;
Those who would [d]destroy me (G)are powerful, being wrongfully my enemies;
(H)What I did not steal, I then have to restore.

O God, it is You who knows (I)my folly,
And [e](J)all my guilt is not hidden from You.
May those who hope for You not (K)be ashamed through me, O Lord Yahweh of hosts;
May those who seek You not be dishonored through me, O God of Israel,
Because (L)for Your sake I have borne reproach;
(M)Dishonor has covered my face.
I have become (N)estranged [f]from my brothers
And a foreigner to my mother’s sons.
For (O)zeal for Your house has consumed me,
And (P)the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.
10 When I wept (Q)in my soul with fasting,
It became my reproach.
11 When I made (R)sackcloth my clothing,
I became (S)a byword to them.
12 Those who (T)dwell at the gate moan about me,
And I am (U)the drunkards’ songs.

13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Yahweh, (V)at an acceptable time;
O God, in the (W)abundance of Your lovingkindness,
Answer me with the truth of Your salvation.
14 Deliver me from the (X)mire and do not let me sink;
May I be (Y)delivered from [g]my foes and from the [h](Z)deep waters.
15 May the [i](AA)flood of water not overflow me
Nor the deep swallow me up,
Nor the (AB)pit shut its mouth on me.

16 Answer me, O Yahweh, for (AC)Your lovingkindness is good;
(AD)According to the abundance of Your compassion, (AE)turn to me,
17 And (AF)do not hide Your face from Your slave,
For I am (AG)in distress; answer me quickly.
18 Oh draw near to my soul and (AH)redeem it;
(AI)Ransom me because of my enemies!
19 You know my (AJ)reproach and my shame and my dishonor;
All my adversaries are [j]before You.

20 Reproach has (AK)broken my heart and I am so sick.
And (AL)I hoped for sympathy, but there was none,
And for (AM)comforters, but I found none.
21 They also gave me [k](AN)gall [l]for my food
And for my thirst they (AO)gave me vinegar to drink.

22 May (AP)their table before them become a snare;
And [m](AQ)when they are in peace, may it become a trap.
23 May their (AR)eyes darken so that they cannot see,
And make their (AS)loins quake continually.
24 (AT)Pour out Your indignation on them,
And may Your burning anger overtake them.
25 May their [n](AU)camp be desolate;
May none dwell in their tents.
26 For they have (AV)persecuted him whom (AW)You Yourself have struck down,
And they recount the pain of those whom (AX)You have [o]wounded.
27 Add (AY)iniquity to their iniquity,
And (AZ)may they not come into (BA)Your righteousness.
28 May they be (BB)blotted out of the (BC)book of life
And may they not be [p](BD)recorded with the righteous.

29 But I am (BE)afflicted and in pain;
[q]May Your salvation, O God, (BF)set me securely on high.
30 I will (BG)praise the name of God with song
And (BH)magnify Him with (BI)thanksgiving.
31 And this will (BJ)please Yahweh better than an ox
Or a young bull with horns and hoofs.
32 The (BK)humble [r]see it and are glad;
You who seek God, (BL)let your heart [s]revive.
33 For (BM)Yahweh hears the needy
And (BN)does not despise His who are prisoners.

34 Let (BO)heaven and earth praise Him,
The seas and (BP)everything that moves in them.
35 For God will (BQ)save Zion and (BR)build the cities of Judah,
That they may dwell there and (BS)possess it.
36 The (BT)seed of His slaves will inherit it,
And those who love His name (BU)will dwell in it.

O Yahweh, Do Not Delay

For the choir director. Of David. To bring to remembrance.

70 (BV)O God, hasten to deliver me;
O Yahweh, hasten to my help!
(BW)Let those be ashamed and humiliated
Who seek my [t]life;
Let those be turned back and dishonored
Who delight in [u]evil against me.
(BX)Let those [v]turn back because of their shame
Who say, “Aha, aha!”

Let those be joyful and glad in You
All who seek You
And let them say continually,
“Let God be magnified,”
Those who love Your salvation.
But (BY)I am afflicted and needy;
(BZ)Hasten to me, O God!
You are my help and my protector;
O Yahweh, do not delay.
