Chronological
7 O LORD my God, in You I put my trust. Save me from all who persecute me, and deliver me,
2 lest he devour my soul like a lion, and tear it in pieces, while there is no one to help.
3 O LORD, my God, if I have done this thing, if there is any wickedness in my hands,
4 if I have rewarded evil to him who had peace with me (indeed, I have delivered him without cause),
5 let the enemies persecute my soul and take it. Indeed, let him tread my life down upon the Earth, and lay my honor in the dust. Selah.
6 Arise, O LORD, in Your wrath, and lift up Yourself against the rage of my enemies. Awaken me to the judgment You have appointed.
7 So shall the congregation of the people surround You. For their sakes, therefore, return on High.
8 The LORD shall judge the people. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to my innocence in me.
9 Oh, let the malice of the wicked come to an end. But guide the just. For the righteous God tries the hearts and reins.
10 My defense is in God, Who preserves the upright in heart.
11 God judges the righteous, and he who denounces God, every day.
12 Unless he turns, He has sharpened His sword. He has bent His bow and made it ready.
13 He has also prepared deadly weapons. He will ordain His arrows for those who persecute.
14 Behold, he shall work with wickedness, for he has conceived mischief. But he shall bring forth a lie.
15 He has made a pit, and dug it, and has fallen into the pit he made.
16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his cruelty shall fall upon his own head.
17 I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness and will sing praise to the Name of the LORD Most High. To him who excels on Gittith: A Psalm of David.
27 The LORD is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked—even my enemies—and my foes came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army encamped against me, my heart shall not be afraid. Though war is raised against me, I will trust in this.
4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that I will require: That I may dwell in the House of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD and to visit His Temple.
5 For in the time of trouble, He shall hide me in His Tabernacle. In the secret place of His pavilion, He shall hide me and set me up upon a rock.
6 And now, He shall lift up my head above my enemies all around me. Therefore, I will offer sacrifices of joy in His Tabernacle. I will sing and praise the LORD.
7 Hear my voice, O LORD, when I cry. Have mercy, also, upon me and hear me.
8 When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart answered You, “O LORD, I will seek Your face.”
9 Do not hide, therefore, Your face from me, nor cast Your servant away in displeasure. You have been my succor; do not leave me or forsake me, O God of my salvation.
10 Though my father and my mother should forsake me, yet the LORD will gather me up.
11 Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me in a right path, because of my enemies.
12 Do not give me to the lust of my adversaries. For there are false witnesses risen up against me, and such as speak cruelly.
13 I should have fainted, except I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Hope in the LORD. Be strong, and He shall comfort Your heart; and trust in the LORD. A Psalm of David.
31 In You, O LORD, have I put my trust. Let me never be confounded. Deliver me in Your righteousness.
2 Bow down Your ear to me. Make haste to deliver me. Be to me a strong rock, a house of defense to save me.
3 For You are my rock and my fortress. Therefore, direct me and guide me for Your Name’s sake.
4 Draw me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me. For You are my strength.
5 Into Your hand I commend My spirit. For You have redeemed me, O LORD God of Truth.
6 I have hated those who give themselves to deceitful vanities; for I trust in the LORD.
7 I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy. For You have seen my trouble. You have known my soul in adversities.
8 And You have not shut me up in the hand of the enemy but have set my feet in an open space.
9 Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble. My eye, my soul and my belly are consumed with grief.
10 For my life is wasted with heaviness, and my years with mourning. My strength fails because of my pain; and my bones are consumed.
11 I was a reproach among all my enemies — but especially among my neighbors — and a fear to my acquaintances. Who, seeing me in the street, fled from me.
12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind. I am like a broken vessel.
13 For I have heard the railing of great men. Fear was on every side, while they conspired together against me and consulted to take my life.
14 But I trusted in You, O LORD. I said, “You are my God.”
15 My times are in Your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.
16 Make Your face to shine upon Your servant. Save me through Your mercy.
17 Let me not be confounded, O LORD, for I have called upon You. Let the wicked be put to confusion, to silence, in the grave.
18 Let the lying lips which cruelly, proudly, and spitefully speak against the righteous be made dumb.
19 How great is Your goodness which You have laid up for those who fear You; and done to those who trust in You before the sons of men!
20 You hide them from the pride of men in the secret place of Your presence. You keep them secretly in Your Tabernacle from the strife of tongues.
21 Blessed be the LORD. For He has shown His marvelous kindness toward me in a strong city.
22 Though I said in my haste, “I am cast out of Your sight!” Still, You heard the voice of my prayer when I cried to You.
23 Love the LORD, all His saints. The LORD preserves the faithful and abundantly repays the proud.
24 All you who trust in the LORD, be strong; and He shall establish your heart. A Psalm of David, to give instruction.
34 I will always give thanks to the LORD. His praise shall be in my mouth continually.
2 My soul shall glory in the LORD. The humble shall hear it and be glad.
3 Praise the LORD with me; and let us magnify His Name together.
4 I sought the LORD, and He heard me. Indeed, He delivered me out of all my fear.
5 They shall look to Him and run; and their faces shall not be ashamed.
6 This poor man cried; and the LORD heard and saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The Angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him and delivers them.
8 Taste and see how gracious the LORD is. Blessed is the man who trusts in Him.
9 Fear the LORD, you, His saints. For those who fear Him lack nothing.
10 The lions lack and suffer hunger. But those who seek the LORD shall lack nothing that is good.
11 Come children, hear me. I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 What man is he who desires life and loves long days to see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips, so that they speak no deceit.
14 Turn from evil and do good. Seek peace and follow after it.
15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous; and His ears are open to their cry.
16 The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off their remembrance from the Earth.
17 The righteous cry and the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is near to those who are of a contrite heart; and will save such as are afflicted in spirit.
19 Great are the troubles of the righteous. But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
20 He keeps all His bones. Not one of them is broken.
21 Malice shall slay the wicked; and those who hate the righteous shall perish.
22 The LORD redeems the souls of His servants; and no one who trusts in Him shall perish. A Psalm of David.
52 Why do you boast of your wickedness, O man of power? The lovingkindness of God endures daily.
2 Your tongue imagines mischief, like a sharp razor that cuts deceitfully.
3 You love evil more than good, lies more than to speak the truth. Selah.
4 You love all words that may destroy. O deceitful tongue!
5 So shall God destroy you forever. He shall take you and pluck you out of your tabernacle, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.
6 Also, the righteous shall see it, and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying,
7 “Behold the man who did not take God for His strength but trusted in the multitude of his riches and put his strength in his malice.”
8 But I shall be like a green olive tree in the House of God. I trusted in the mercy of God forever and ever.
9 I will always praise You because You have done this. And I will hope in Your Name because it is good before Your saints. To him who excels on Mahalath: A Psalm of David to give instruction
