Beginning
9 1 The fifth Angel bloweth his trumpet, 3 and spoiling locusts come out. 13 The sixth Angel bloweth, 16 and bringeth forth horsemen, 20 to destroy mankind.
1 And the [a]fifth Angel blew the trumpet, and I saw a [b]star fall from heaven unto the earth, [c]and to him was given the key of the [d]bottomless pit.
2 [e]And he opened the bottomless pit, and there arose the smoke of the pit, the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun, and the air were darkened by the smoke of the pit.
3 [f]And there came out of the smoke Locusts upon the earth, and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4 [g]And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree: but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
5 And to them was commanded that they should not kill them, but that they should be vexed five months, and that their pain should be as the pain that cometh of a scorpion, when he hath stung a man.
6 (A)Therefore in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it, and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
7 [h]And the form of the locusts was like unto horses prepared unto the battle, and on their heads were as it were crowns, like unto gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.
8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
9 And they had habergeons, like unto habergeons of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots when many horses run unto battle.
10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails, and their power was to hurt men five months.
11 [i]And they have a king over them, which is the Angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he is named Apollyon, that is, destroying.
12 [j]One woe is past, and behold, yet two woes come after this.
13 ¶ [k]Then the sixth Angel blew the trumpet, [l]and I heard a voice from the [m]four horns of the golden altar, which is before God,
14 Saying to the sixth Angel, which had the trumpet, [n]Loose the four Angels, which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
15 [o]And the four Angels were loosed, which were prepared at an hour, at a day, at a month, and at a year to slay the third part of men.
16 And the number of horsemen of war were twenty thousand times ten thousand: for I heard the number of them.
17 And thus I saw the horses in a vision, and them that sat on them, having fiery habergeons, and of hyacinth, and of brimstone, and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions, and out of their mouths went forth fire, and smoke, and brimstone.
18 Of these three was the third part of men killed, that is, of the fire, and of the smoke, and of the brimstone, which came out of their mouths.
19 For their power is in their mouths, and in their tails: [p]for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads wherewith they hurt.
20 [q]And the remnant of the men which were not killed by these plagues, repented not of the works of their hands that they should not worship devils, and (B)idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood, which neither can see, neither hear, nor go.
21 Also they repented not of their murder, and of their sorcery, neither of their fornication, nor of their theft.
10 Another Angel appeareth with a cloud, 2 holding a book open, 3 and crieth out. 8 A voice from heaven commandeth John to take the book. 10 He eateth it.
1 And [r]I saw [s]another mighty Angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud, and the rainbow upon his head, and his face was as the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire.
2 And he had in his hand a [t]little book open, and he put his right foot upon the sea, and his left on the earth,
3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
4 [u]And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: but I heard a voice from heaven, saying unto me, [v]Seal up those things which the seven thunders have spoken, and write them not.
5 And the Angel which I saw stand upon the sea, and upon the earth, [w]lift up his hand to heaven,
6 And sware by him that liveth for evermore, which created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things that therein are, [x]that [y]time should be no more.
7 But in the days of the [z]voice of the seventh Angel, when he shall begin to blow the trumpet, even the mystery of God shall be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the Prophets.
8 [aa]And the voice which I heard from heaven, spake unto me again, and said, Go, and take the little book which is open in the hand of the Angel, which standeth upon the sea, and upon the earth.
9 So I went unto the Angel, and said to him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up, and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth as sweet as honey.
10 Then I took the little book out of the Angel’s hand, and ate it up, and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey: but when I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 [ab]And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again among the people and nations, and tongues, and to many Kings.
11 1 The temple is commanded to be measured. 3 The Lord stirred up two witnesses, 7 whom the beast murdereth, 9 and no man burieth them. 11 God raiseth them to life, 12 and calleth them up to heaven, 13 the wicked are terrified, 15 by the trumpet of the seventh Angel the resurrection, 18 and judgment is described.
1 [ac]Then was given me a reed like unto a rod, and the Angel stood by, saying, Rise and [ad]mete the Temple of God, and the Altar, and them that worship therein.
2 [ae]But the [af]Court which is without the Temple [ag]cast out, and mete it not: for it is given unto the [ah]Gentiles, and the holy city shall they tread under foot, [ai]two and forty Months.
3 But [aj]I will give power unto my two witnesses and they shall [ak]prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4 These [al]are two olive trees, and two candlesticks, standing before the God of the earth.
5 [am]And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouths and devoureth their enemies: for if any man would hurt them, thus must he be killed.
6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophesying, and have power over waters to turn them into blood, and to smite the earth with all manner plagues, as often as they will.
7 [an]And when they have [ao]finished their testimony, [ap]the beast that cometh out of the bottomless pit, shall make war against them, and shall [aq]overcome them, and kill them,
8 And their corpses shall lie in the [ar]streets of the great city, which [as]spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, [at]where our Lord also was crucified.
9 And they of the people and kindreds, and tongues, and Gentiles, shall see their corpses [au]three days and an half, and shall not suffer their carcasses to be put in graves.
10 And they that dwell upon the earth, [av]shall rejoice over them and be glad, and shall send gifts one to another, for these two Prophets [aw]vexed them that dwelt on the earth.
11 [ax]But after [ay]three days and an half, [az]the spirit of life coming from God, shall enter into them, and they [ba]shall stand up upon their feet: and great fear shall come upon them which saw them.
12 And they shall hear a great voice from heaven, saying unto them, [bb]Come up hither: And they shall ascend up to heaven in a cloud, [bc]and their enemies shall see them.
13 [bd]And the same hour shall there be a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city shall fall, and in the earthquake shall be slain in number seven thousand: and the remnant were sore feared, [be]and [bf]gave glory to God of heaven.
14 [bg]The second woe is past, and behold, the third woe will come anon.
15 [bh]And the seventh Angel blew the trumpet, and there were great voices in heaven, saying, [bi]The kingdoms of the world are our Lord’s, and his Christ’s, and he shall reign for evermore.
16 [bj]Then the four and twenty Elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces and worshipped God.
17 Saying, We give thee thanks, Lord God Almighty, Which art, and which wast, and which art to come: for thou hast received thy great might, and hast obtained thy kingdom.
18 [bk]And the Gentiles were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the Prophets, and to thy Saints, and to them that fear thy Name, to small and great, and shouldest destroy them, which destroy the earth.
19 Then the Temple of God was [bl]opened in heaven, and there was seen in the Temple the Ark of his covenant: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and earthquake, and much hail.
12 1 A woman 2 appeareth travailing with child, 4 whose child the dragon would devour, 7 but Michael overcometh him 9 and casteth him out, 13 and the more he is cast down and vanquished, the more fiercely he exercised his subtleties.
1 And [bm]there appeared a great wonder in heaven: [bn]A woman clothed with the Sun, and the Moon was under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve Stars.
2 And [bo]she was with child, and cried travailing in birth, and was pained ready to be delivered.
3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven: [bp]for behold, a great red dragon having [bq]seven heads, and ten [br]horns, and seven crowns upon his heads:
4 [bs]And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon [bt]stood before the woman, which was ready to be delivered, [bu]to devour her child, when she had brought it forth.
5 [bv]So she brought forth a man [bw]child, which should rule all nations with a rod of iron: and that her child was taken up unto God and to his throne.
6 [bx]And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that [by]they should feed her there a thousand, two hundred and threescore days.
7 And there was a battle in heaven, [bz]Michael and his Angels, fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels.
8 [ca]But they prevailed not, neither was their [cb]place found anymore in heaven.
9 And the great dragon that old serpent, called the devil and Satan, was cast out, which deceiveth all the world: he was even cast into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, [cc]Now is salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 But they overcame him by that blood of that Lamb, and by that word of their testimony, and they [cd]loved not their lives unto the death.
12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, and of the sea: for the devil is come down unto you, which hath great wrath, knowing that he hath but a short time.
13 And when [ce]the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which had brought forth the man child.
14 [cf]But to the woman were given two wings of a great Eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her [cg]place where she is nourished for a [ch]time, and times, and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.
15 [ci]And the serpent cast out of his mouth water after the woman, like a flood, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood,
16 [cj]But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood, which the dragon had cast out of his mouth.
17 [ck]Then the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went and made war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
18 [cl]And I stood on the sea sand.
