Psalm 33

Yahweh Is Our Help and Our Shield

33 (A)Sing for joy in Yahweh, O righteous ones;
Praise is (B)becoming to the upright.
Give thanks to Yahweh with the (C)lyre;
Sing praises to Him with a (D)harp of ten strings.
Sing to Him a (E)new song;
Play skillfully with (F)a loud shout.
For the word of Yahweh (G)is upright,
And all His work is done (H)in faithfulness.
He (I)loves righteousness and justice;
The (J)earth is full of the lovingkindness of Yahweh.

By the (K)word of Yahweh the heavens were made,
And (L)by the breath of His mouth (M)all their host.
He gathers the (N)waters of the sea [a]as a heap;
He lays up the deeps in storehouses.
Let (O)all the earth fear Yahweh;
Let all the inhabitants of the world (P)stand in awe of Him.
For (Q)He spoke, and it was;
He commanded, and it [b]stood.
10 Yahweh (R)nullifies the counsel of the nations;
He frustrates the thoughts of the peoples.
11 The (S)counsel of Yahweh stands forever,
The (T)thoughts of His heart from generation to generation.
12 Blessed is the (U)nation whose God is Yahweh,
The people whom He has (V)chosen for His own inheritance.

13 Yahweh (W)looks from heaven;
He (X)sees all the sons of men;
14 From (Y)the place of His habitation He gazes
On all the inhabitants of the earth,
15 He who (Z)forms [c]the hearts of them all,
He who (AA)understands all their works.
16 (AB)The king is not saved by a mighty army;
A warrior is not delivered by great strength.
17 A (AC)horse is a false hope for salvation;
Nor does it provide escape to anyone by its great strength.

18 Behold, (AD)the eye of Yahweh is on those who fear Him,
On those who (AE)wait for His lovingkindness,
19 To (AF)deliver their soul from death
And to keep them alive (AG)in famine.
20 Our soul (AH)is patient for Yahweh;
He is our (AI)help and our shield.
21 For our (AJ)heart is glad in Him,
Because we trust in His holy name.
22 Let Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, be upon us,
As we wait for You.

Exodus 19:3-8

Now Moses went up to God, and (A)Yahweh called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob and tell the sons of Israel: (B)You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I lifted you up on (C)eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. So now then, (D)if you will indeed listen to My voice and (E)keep My covenant, then you shall be (F)My treasured possession among all the peoples, for (G)all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me (H)a kingdom of priests and (I)a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.”

(J)So Moses came and called the elders of the people and set before them all these words which Yahweh had commanded him. (K)And all the people answered together and said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do!” And Moses brought back the words of the people to Yahweh.

Exodus 19:16-20

16 (A)So it happened on the third day, when it was morning, that there were [a]thunder and lightning flashes and a [b]thick cloud upon the mountain and a very loud trumpet sound, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. 17 And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the [c]foot of the mountain.

Yahweh Descends on Mount Sinai

18 (B)Now Mount Sinai was all in smoke because Yahweh descended upon it (C)in fire; and its smoke ascended like (D)the smoke of a furnace, and (E)the whole mountain trembled violently. 19 And the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder; then Moses spoke and (F)God answered him with [d]thunder. 20 (G)And Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain; and Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

1 Peter 2:4-10

And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been (A)rejected by men, but is [a]choice and precious in the sight of God, (B)you also, as living stones, [b]are being built up as a (C)spiritual house for a holy (D)priesthood, to (E)offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For this is contained in [c]Scripture:

(F)Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a (G)precious corner stone,
And he who believes upon [d]Him will not be put to shame.”

(H)This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve,

(I)The stone which the builders (J)rejected,
This has become the chief corner stone,”

and,

(K)A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.”

(L)They stumble because they are disobedient to the word, (M)and to this stumbling they were also appointed.

But you are (N)a chosen family, a royal (O)priesthood, a (P)holy nation, (Q)a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you (R)out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 (S)for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
