Psalm 16-17

Michtam of David.

¶ Preserve me, O God: for in thee I have put my trust.

I said unto the LORD, Thou art my goodness: I have no goodness apart from thee;

to the saints that are in the earth and to the excellent: all my delight is towards them.

The sorrows of those that hasten after another god shall be multiplied; their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.

The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup; thou dost maintain my lot.

The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a beautiful inheritance.

I will bless the LORD, who gives me counsel: my kidneys also instruct me in the night seasons.

¶ I have set the LORD always before me: because when he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices: my flesh also shall rest secure.

10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in Sheol; neither wilt thou suffer thy Merciful One to see corruption.

11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; in thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

A Prayer of David.

¶ Hear righteousness, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that does not go out of feigned lips.

Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold uprightness.

Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast refined me and hast found no iniquity; that which I thought did not pass through my mouth.

Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have observed the ways of the violent.

Sustain my steps in thy ways that my footsteps not slip.

I have called upon thee, because thou dost hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me and hear my speech.

Show thy mercy to be marvellous, O Saviour of those who put their trust in thee, from those that rise up against thy right hand.

¶ Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me with the shadow of thy wings,

from the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

10 They are closed in with their own fat; with their mouth they speak proudly.

11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes upon throwing us down to the earth

12 like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

13 Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, with thy sword;

14 from men, with thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, who have their portion in this life and whose belly thou dost fill with thy provision: they satisfy their sons and leave the rest to their family.

15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness.

Psalm 134-135

A Song of degrees.

¶ Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye slaves of the LORD, who by night stand in the house of the LORD.

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.

The LORD that made the heavens and the earth bless thee out of Zion.

¶ Halelu-JAH. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye slaves of the LORD.

Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God,

praise JAH; for the LORD is good; sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

For JAH has chosen Jacob unto himself and Israel for his own possession.

¶ For I know that the LORD is great and that our Lord is above all gods.

Whatever the LORD desired, he did in the heavens and in the earth, in the seas and in all the deep places.

He who causes the clouds to ascend from the ends of the earth, made the lightnings in the rain; he who brings the winds out of his treasuries.

He who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast;

sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his slaves.

10 He who smote many Gentiles and slew mighty kings,

11 Sihon king of the Amorites and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan

12 gave their land for a heritage, a heritage unto Israel his people.

13 Thy name, O LORD, is eternal, and thy memorial, O LORD, from generation to generation.

14 For the LORD will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his slaves.

15 ¶ The idols of the Gentiles are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

16 They have a mouth, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they do not see;

17 they have ears, but they do not hear; neither is there any spirit in their mouths.

18 Let those that make them become like unto them and every one that trusts in them.

19 Bless the LORD, O house of Israel; bless the LORD, O house of Aaron:

20 Bless the LORD, O house of Levi; ye that fear the LORD, bless the LORD.

21 Blessed be the LORD out of Zion who dwells at Jerusalem. Halelu-JAH.

Exodus 16:23-36

23 And he said unto them, This is what the LORD has said, Tomorrow is the holy sabbath of rest unto the LORD; bake that which ye will bake today and cook what ye will cook; and that which remains over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.

24 And they laid it up until the morning as Moses bade; and it did not stink, neither was there any worm in it.

25 And Moses said, Eat that today; for today is a sabbath unto the LORD; today ye shall not find it in the field.

26 Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.

27 And it came to pass that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, and they found none.

28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?

29 See that the LORD has given you the sabbath; therefore, he gives you the bread of two days on the sixth day; abide ye every man in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.

30 So the people rested on the seventh day.

31 And the house of Israel called its name Manna; and it was like coriander seed, white, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.

32 ¶ And Moses said, This is what the LORD has commanded, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your descendants, that they may see the bread with which I have fed you in the wilderness when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt.

33 And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot and put an omer full of manna in it and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your descendants.

34 As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.

35 Thus the sons of Israel ate manna forty years until they came to a land inhabited; they ate manna until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.

36 Now an omer is the tenth part of an ephah.

1 Peter 3:13-4:6

13 And who is he that can harm you, if ye are followers of that which is good?

14 But also if ye suffer anything for righteousness’ sake, blessed are ye; therefore, be not afraid of their terror neither be troubled,

15 but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to respond to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and reverence,

16 ¶ having a good conscience, so in that which they murmur against you as of evildoers, those that blaspheme your good conversation in the Christ may be confused.

17 For it is better (if the will of God so desires) that ye suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

18 ¶ For the Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in spirit,

19 in which he also went and preached unto the imprisoned spirits,

20 which in the time past were disobedient, when once the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being made ready, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

21 ¶ Unto the figure of which the baptism that does now correspond saves us (not taking away the uncleanness of the flesh, but giving testimony of a good conscience before God) by the resurrection of Jesus, the Christ,

22 who is at the right hand of God, having ascended into heaven, unto whom the angels and the authorities and powers are subject.

¶ Since the Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, be ye also armed with the same thought; for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

so that now the time that remains in the flesh, he might live, not unto the lusts of men, but unto the will of God.

For it should suffice us that during the time past of our life we had done the will of the Gentiles, when we conversed in lasciviousness, lusts, drunkenness, gluttony, orgies, and abominable idolatries.

¶ And it seems strange to those that speak evil of you, that ye do not run with them to the same unchecked dissolution;

the same shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.

Because for this cause was the gospel preached also to those that are dead, that they might be judged in flesh according to men, but live in spirit according to God.

John 16:1-15

16 ¶ These things I have spoken unto you that ye should not be offended.

They shall put you out of the synagogues, and the hour will even come when whosoever kills you will think that he does God service.

And they will do these things unto you because they do not know the Father, nor me.

But I have told you these things that when that hour shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And I did not say these things unto you at the beginning because I was with you.

But now I go unto him that sent me, and none of you asks me, Where goest thou?

But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow has filled your heart.

¶ Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment:

of sin, because they do not believe in me;

10 of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11 of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth, for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak, and he will cause you to know the things which are to come.

14 He shall clarify me, for he shall take of that which is mine and shall cause you to know it.

15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he shall take of that which is mine and shall cause you to know it.
