Book of Common Prayer
95 Come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us sing aloud to the Rock of our Salvation!
2 Let us come before His Face with praise. Let us sing loud to Him with Psalms.
3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods,
4 in Whose hand are the deep places of the Earth, and the heights of the mountains are His.
5 The sea belongs to Him, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us worship and bow down, and kneel before the LORD our Maker.
7 For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His Hand. Today, if you will hear His voice,
8 “Do not harden your heart as in Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness,
9 “when your fathers tempted Me (tested Me) though they had seen My work.
10 “Forty years I have contended with this generation, and said they are a people that err in heart, for they have not known My ways.
11 “Therefore, I swore in My wrath, saying, ‘Surely, they shall not enter into My rest.’”
40 I waited patiently for the LORD, and He inclined to me and heard my cry.
2 Also, He brought me out of the horrible pit—out of the miry clay—and set my feet upon the rock and ordered my goings.
3 And He has put in my mouth a new song of praise to our God. Many shall see it and fear and shall trust in the LORD.
4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust and does not regard the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 You have made many, O LORD my God, Your wonderful works; so that no one can count to You, in order, Your thoughts toward us. I would declare and speak of them, but they are more than I am able to express.
6 Sacrifice and offering You did not desire (my ears You have prepared). Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required.
7 Then I said, “Lo, I come. In the roll of the Book it is written of me.
8 “I desired to do Your good will, O my God. Indeed, Your Law is within my heart.”
9 I have declared righteousness in the great congregation. Lo, I will not refrain my lips. O LORD, You know.
10 I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart. I have declared Your truth and Your salvation. I have not concealed Your mercy and Your truth from the great Congregation.
11 Do not withdraw Your tender mercy from me, O LORD. Let Your mercy and Your truth always preserve me.
12 For innumerable troubles have surrounded me. My sins have taken such hold upon me that I am not able to look up. They are more in number than the hairs of my head. Therefore, my heart has failed me.
13 Let it please You, O LORD, to deliver me. Hurry, O LORD, to help me.
14 Let those who seek my soul to destroy it be confounded and put to shame together. Let those who desire my hurt be driven backward and put to rebuke.
15 Let those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” be destroyed as a reward for their shame,
16 Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You, and let those who love Your salvation, say always, “The LORD be praised!”
17 Though I be poor and needy, the LORD thinks on me. You are my Helper and my Deliverer. My God, do not delay. To him who excels: A Psalm of David.
54 Save me, O God, by Your Name; and by Your power, judge me.
2 O God, hear my prayer; hear the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers have risen up against me, and tyrants seek my soul. They have not set God before them. Selah.
4 Behold, God is my helper. The LORD is with those who uphold my soul.
5 He shall reward evil to my enemies. Oh, cut them off in Your truth!
6 I will sacrifice freely to You. I will praise Your Name, O LORD, because it is good.
7 For He has delivered me out of all trouble; and my eye has seen my desire upon my enemies. To him who excels on Neginoth: A Psalm of David, to give instruction
51 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness. According to the multitude of Your compassions, put away my iniquities.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity; and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my iniquities; and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against You, against You only, have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be just when You speak and pure when You judge.
5 Behold, I was born in iniquity; and in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You love truth to the core. Therefore, You have taught me wisdom in my core.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness; so that the bones which You have broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Your Face from my sins; and put away all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence; and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation; and establish me with Your free Spirit.
13 Then I shall teach Your ways to the wicked; and sinners shall be converted to You.
14 Deliver me from blood, O God, the God of my salvation; and my tongue shall sing joyfully of Your righteousness.
15 Open my lips, O LORD, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For You desire no sacrifice, though I would give it. You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a contrite spirit. A contrite and a broken heart, O God, You will not despise.
18 Be favorable to Zion for Your good pleasure. Build the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shall You accept the sacrifices of righteousness, the burnt offering and oblation. Then shall they offer calves upon Your altar. To him who excels: A Psalm of David to give instruction, when Doeg the Edomite came and showed Saul and said to him, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.”
12 “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you but to fear the LORD your God—to walk in all His ways and to love Him and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul—
13 “so that you keep the Commandments of the LORD and His Ordinances, which I command you this day, for your good?
14 “Behold, Heaven—the Heaven of heavens—and the Earth, with all that therein is, are the LORD your God’s,
15 “Notwithstanding, the LORD set His delight in your fathers, to love them. And He chose their seed after them, you above all people, as it is this day.
16 “Therefore, circumcise the foreskin of your heart. And harden your necks no more.
17 “For the LORD your God is God of gods and LORD of Lords—a great God, mighty and terrible—Who accepts no persons, nor takes bribes,
18 “Who does right to the fatherless and widow and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing.
19 “Therefore, love the stranger. For you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
20 “You shall fear the LORD your God. You shall serve Him. And you shall cling to Him and shall swear by His Name.
21 “He is your praise. And He is your God, Who has done for you these great and terrible things, which your eyes have seen.
22 “Your fathers went down into Egypt with seventy people. And now the LORD your God has made you as the stars of the heaven in multitude.”
11 Therefore, let us study to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.
12 For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, passing through even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and able to discern the thoughts and the intentions of the heart.
13 Nor is there any creature unseen by Him. But all things are naked and laid bare before the eyes of Him to Whom we must give account.
14 Seeing, then, that we have a great High Priest Who has entered into Heaven (Jesus, the Son of God), let us hold firmly to our confession.
15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all things tempted in the same way, yet without sin.
16 Therefore, let us go boldly to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
22 After these things, Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea and stayed there with them and baptized.
23 And John also baptized in Aenon, near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized.
24 For John was not yet cast into prison.
25 Then there arose a question between John’s disciples and the Jews about purification.
26 And they came to John, and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with you beyond Jordan, to whom you have borne witness, behold, he baptizes, and all come to him.”
27 John answered, and said, “A man can receive nothing, except it be given to him from Heaven.
28 You yourselves are my witnesses, that I said, ‘I am not that Christ, but that I am sent before Him.’
29 “The One who has the bride is the Bridegroom. But the friend of the Bridegroom who stands and hears Him, rejoices greatly because of the Bridegroom’s voice. Therefore, my joy is fulfilled.
30 “He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 “The One who has come from on high is above all. The one who is from the Earth, is from the Earth, and speaks from the Earth. The One who has come from Heaven is above all.
32 “And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies. But no one receives His testimony.
33 “The one who has received His testimony, has sealed that God is true.
34 “For He Whom God has sent speaks the words of God. For God does not give the Spirit by measure.
35 “The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.
36 “The one who believes in the Son has everlasting life. And the one who disbelieves the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
