Isaiah 66:7-14

“Before she goes into labor,(A)
    she gives birth;
before the pains come upon her,
    she delivers a son.(B)
Who has ever heard of such things?
    Who has ever seen(C) things like this?
Can a country be born in a day(D)
    or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
Yet no sooner is Zion in labor
    than she gives birth to her children.(E)
Do I bring to the moment of birth(F)
    and not give delivery?” says the Lord.
“Do I close up the womb
    when I bring to delivery?” says your God.
10 “Rejoice(G) with Jerusalem and be glad for her,
    all you who love(H) her;
rejoice greatly with her,
    all you who mourn(I) over her.
11 For you will nurse(J) and be satisfied
    at her comforting breasts;(K)
you will drink deeply
    and delight in her overflowing abundance.”(L)

12 For this is what the Lord says:

“I will extend peace(M) to her like a river,(N)
    and the wealth(O) of nations like a flooding stream;
you will nurse and be carried(P) on her arm
    and dandled on her knees.
13 As a mother comforts her child,(Q)
    so will I comfort(R) you;
    and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”

14 When you see this, your heart will rejoice(S)
    and you will flourish(T) like grass;
the hand(U) of the Lord will be made known to his servants,(V)
    but his fury(W) will be shown to his foes.

1 John 3:4-10

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.(A) But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins.(B) And in him is no sin.(C) No one who lives in him keeps on sinning.(D) No one who continues to sin has either seen him(E) or known him.(F)

Dear children,(G) do not let anyone lead you astray.(H) The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.(I) The one who does what is sinful is of the devil,(J) because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God(K) appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.(L) No one who is born of God(M) will continue to sin,(N) because God’s seed(O) remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God(P) are and who the children of the devil(Q) are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love(R) their brother and sister.(S)

John 10:7-16

Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am(A) the gate(B) for the sheep. All who have come before me(C) are thieves and robbers,(D) but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[a] They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life,(E) and have it to the full.(F)

11 “I am(G) the good shepherd.(H) The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.(I) 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away.(J) Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.

14 “I am the good shepherd;(K) I know my sheep(L) and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father(M)—and I lay down my life for the sheep.(N) 16 I have other sheep(O) that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock(P) and one shepherd.(Q)
