33 He turneth the floods to a wilderness, and the springs of waters into dryness,
34 And a fruitful land into [a]barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
35 Again he [b]turneth the wilderness into pools of water, and the dry land into water springs.
36 And there he placeth the hungry, and they build a city to dwell in,
37 And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which bring forth fruitful [c]increase.
38 For he blesseth them, and they multiply exceedingly, and he diminisheth not their cattle.
39 [d]Again men are diminished, and brought low by oppression, evil and sorrow.
40 He poureth [e]contempt upon princes, and causeth them to err in desert places out of the way.
41 Yet he raiseth up the poor out of misery, and maketh him families like a flock of sheep.
42 The [f]righteous shall see it, and rejoice, and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
43 Who is wise that he may observe these things? for they shall understand the loving kindness of the Lord.
108 This Psalm is composed of two other Psalms before the seven and fiftieth and the sixtieth. The matter here contained is, 1 That David giveth himself with heart and voice to praise the Lord, 7 and assureth himself of the promise of God concerning his kingdom over Israel, and his power against other nations: 11 Who though he seem to forsake us for a time, yet he alone will in the end cast down our enemies.
A song or Psalm of David.
1 O God, mine heart is [g]prepared, so is [h]my tongue: I will sing and give praise.
2 Awake viol and harp, I will awake early.
3 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the [i]people, and I will sing unto thee among the nations.
4 For thy mercy is great above the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
5 [j]Exalt thyself, O God, above the heavens, and let thy glory be upon all the earth,
6 That thy beloved may be delivered: [k]help with thy right hand and hear me.
7 God hath spoken in his [l]holiness: therefore I will rejoice, I shall divide Shechem and measure the valley of Succoth.
8 Gilead shall be mine, and Manasseh shall be mine: Ephraim also shall be the strength of mine head: Judah is my lawgiver.
9 (A)Moab shall be my washpot: over Edom will I cast out my shoe: upon Palestine will I triumph.
10 Who will lead me into the strong city? who will bring me unto Edom?
11 [m]Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst forsaken us, and didst not go forth, O God, with our armies?
12 Give us help against trouble: for vain is the help of man.
13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he shall tread down our enemies.
33 1 He exhorteth good men to praise God, for that he hath not only created all things, and by his providence governeth the same, but also is faithful in his promises, 10 he understandeth man’s heart, and scattereth the counsel of the wicked, 16 so that no man can be preserved by any creature or man’s strength: by they, that put their confidence in his mercy, shall be preserved from all adversities.
1 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for it [a]becometh upright men to be thankful.
2 Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with viol and [b]instrument of ten strings.
3 Sing unto him a new song: sing cheerfully with a loud voice.
4 For the [c]word of the Lord is righteous, and all his [d]works are faithful.
5 He [e]loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
7 He [f]gathereth the waters of the sea together as upon an heap, and layeth up the depths in his treasures.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all them that dwell in the world, fear him.
9 For he spake, and it was done: he commanded, and it [g]stood.
10 The Lord breaketh the [h]counsel of the heathen, and bringeth to nought the devices of the people.
11 The counsel of the Lord shall stand forever, and the thoughts of his heart throughout all ages.
12 Blessed is that nation, whose [i]God is the Lord: even the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance.
13 The Lord [j]looketh down from heaven, and beholdeth all the children of men.
14 From the habitation of his dwelling, he beholdeth all them that dwell in the earth.
15 He [k]fashioneth their hearts every one, and understandeth all their works.
16 The [l]King is not saved by the multitude of an host, neither is the mighty man delivered by great strength.
17 A horse is a vain help, and shall not deliver any by his great strength.
18 Behold, [m]the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, and upon them that trust in his mercy,
19 To deliver their souls from death, and to preserve them in famine.
20 [n]Our soul waiteth for the Lord: for he is our help and our shield.
21 Surely our heart shall rejoice in him, because we trusted in his holy Name.
22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we trusted in thee.
66 1 God dwelleth not in Temples made with hands. 3 He despiseth sacrifices done without mercy and faith. 5 God comforteth them that are troubled for his sake. 19 The vocation of the Gentiles. 23 The perpetual Sabbath. 24 The punishment of the wicked is everlasting.
1 Thus saith the Lord, (A)The [a]heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is that house that ye will build unto me? and where is that place of my rest?
2 For all these things hath mine hand made, [b]and all these things have been, saith the Lord: and to him will I look, even to him that is poor, and of [c]a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my words.
3 He that killeth a bullock, is as if he [d]slew a man: he that sacrificeth a sheep, as if he cut off a dog’s neck: he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood: he that remembereth incense, as if he blessed an idol: yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.
4 Therefore will I [e]choose out their delusions, and I will bring their fear upon them, because I called and none would answer: I speak, and they would not hear: but they did evil in my sight, and chose the things which I would not.
5 Hear the word of the Lord, all ye that tremble at his [f]word, Your brethren that hated you, and cast you out for my Name’s sake, said, Let the Lord be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.
6 [g]A voice soundeth from the city, even a voice from the Temple, the voice of the Lord, that recompenseth his enemies fully.
6 [a]But godliness is great gain, if a man be content with that he hath.
7 [b]For we brought nothing into the world, and it is certain, that we can carry nothing out.
8 Therefore when we have food and raiment, let us therewith be content.
9 [c]For they that will be rich, fall into tentation and snares, and into many foolish and noisome lusts, which drown men in perdition and destruction.
10 For the desire of money is the root of all evil, which while some lusted after they erred from the faith, and [d]pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 [e]But thou, O [f]man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith: lay hold of eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13 (A)[g]I charge thee in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Jesus Christ, which under Pontius Pilate (B)witnessed a good confession.
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, and unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Which in due time he shall show, that is (C)[h] blessed and Prince only, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
16 Who only hath immortality, and dwelleth in the light that none can attain unto, (D)whom never man saw, neither can see, unto whom be honor and power everlasting, Amen.
17 [i]Charge them that are rich in [j]this world, that they be not high minded, and that they (E)trust not in uncertain riches, but in the [k]living God, (which giveth us abundantly all things to enjoy.)
18 That they do good, and be rich in good works, and be ready to distribute, and communicate,
19 (F)[l]Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may obtain eternal life.
20 [m]O Timothy, keep that which is committed unto thee, and avoid profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called,
21 Which while some [n]profess, they have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee, Amen.

35 ¶ (A)[a]And Jesus answered and said teaching in the Temple, How say the Scribes that Christ is the son of David?
36 For David himself said by [b]the holy Ghost, (B)The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
37 Then David himself calleth him Lord: by what means is he then his son? and much people heard him gladly.
38 (C)[c]Moreover he said unto them in [d]his doctrine, Beware of the Scribes which love to go in [e]long robes, and love salutations in the markets,
39 And the chief seats in the Synagogues, and the first rooms at feasts,
40 Which (D)devour widows’ houses, even under a color of long prayers. These shall receive the greater damnation.
41 (E)[f]And as Jesus sat over against the treasury, he beheld how the people [g]cast money into the treasury, and many rich men cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a quadrin.
43 Then he called unto him his disciples, and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury.
44 For they all did cast in of their superfluity: but she of her poverty did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
