Psalm 50

50 1 Because the Church is always full of hypocrites, 8 which do imagine that God will be worshipped with outward ceremonies only without the heart: and especially the Jews were of this opinion, because of their figures and ceremonies of the Law, thinking that their sacrifices were sufficient. 21 Therefore the Prophet doth reprove this gross error, and pronounceth the Name of God to be blasphemed where holiness is set in ceremonies. 23 For he declareth the worship of God to be spiritual, whereof are two principal parts, invocation and thanksgiving.

A Psalm of [a]Asaph.

The God of gods, even the Lord hath spoken and called the [b]earth from the rising up of the Sun, unto the going down thereof.

Out of Zion, which is the [c]perfection of beauty, hath God shined.

Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: [d]a fire shall devour before him, and a mighty tempest shall be moved round about him.

He shall call the heaven above, and [e]the earth to judge his people.

Gather my [f]Saints together unto me, those that make a covenant with me with [g]sacrifice.

And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is Judge himself. Selah.

Hear, O my people and I will speak: hear, O Israel, and I will testify unto thee: for I am God, even thy God.

I will not [h]reprove thee for thy sacrifices, or thy burnt offerings, that have not been continually before me.

I will take no bullock out of thine house, nor goats out of thy folds.

10 [i]For all the beasts of the forest are mine, and the beasts on a thousand mountains.

11 I know all the fowls on the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are mine.

12 If I be hungry, I will not tell thee: for the world is mine and all that therein is.

13 [j]Will I eat the flesh of bulls? or drink the blood of goats?

14 Offer unto God praise, and [k]pay thy vows unto the most High,

15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: so will I deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

16 But unto the wicked said God, [l]What hast thou to do to declare mine ordinances, that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth,

17 Seeing thou hatest [m]to be reformed, and hast cast my words behind thee?

18 For when thou seest a thief, [n]thou runnest with him, and thou art partaker with the adulterers.

19 Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and with thy tongue thou forgest deceit.

20 Thou [o]sittest, and speakest against thy brother, and slanderest thy mother’s son.

21 These things hast thou done, and I held my tongue: therefore thou thoughtest that I was like thee: but I will reprove thee, and [p]set them in order before thee.

22 Oh consider this ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none that can deliver you.

23 He that offereth [q]praise, shall glorify me: and to him that [r]disposeth his way aright, will I [s]show the salvation of God.

Psalm 59-60

59 1 David being in great danger of Saul, who sent to slay him in his bed, prayeth unto God, 3 Declaring his innocency, and their fury, 5 Desiring God to destroy all those that sin of malicious wickedness. 11 Whom though he keep alive for a time to exercise his people, yet in the end he will consume them in his wrath, 13 That he may be known to be the God of Jacob to the end of the world. 16 For this he singeth praises to God assured of his mercies.

To him that excelleth. Destroy not. A Psalm of David, on [a]Michtam. (A)When Saul sent and they did watch the house to kill him.

O my God, [b]deliver me from mine enemies; defend me from them that rise up against me.

Deliver me from the wicked doers, and save me from the bloody men.

For lo, they have laid wait for my soul; the mighty men are gathered against me, not for mine [c]offense, nor for my sin, O Lord.

They run and prepare themselves without a fault on my part: arise therefore to assist me, and behold.

Even thou, O Lord God of hosts, O God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen, and be not [d]merciful unto all that transgress maliciously. Selah.

They go to and fro in the evening: they bark like [e]dogs, and go about the city.

Behold, they [f]brag in their talk, and swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?

But thou, O Lord, shalt have them in derision, and thou shalt laugh at all the heathen.

[g]He is strong: but I will wait upon thee: for God is my defense.

10 My merciful God will [h]prevent me: God will let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

11 Slay them [i]not, lest my people forget it: but scatter them abroad by thy power, and put them down, O Lord, our shield,

12 For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips: and let them be [j]taken in their pride, even for their perjury and lies, that they speak.

13 [k]Consume them in thy wrath: consume them that they be no more: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob, even unto the ends of the world. Selah.

14 And in the evening they [l]shall go to and fro, and bark like dogs, and go about the city.

15 They shall run here and there for meat, and surely they shall not be satisfied, though they tarry all night.

16 But I will sing of thy [m]power, and will praise thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble.

17 Unto thee, O my [n]Strength will I sing: for God is my defense, and my merciful God.

60 1 David being now king over Judah, and having had many victories, showeth by evident signs that God elected him King, assuring the people that God will prosper them, if they approve the same. 14 After, he prayeth unto God to finish that that he hath begun.

To him that excelleth upon [o]Shushan Eduth, or Michtam. A Psalm of David to teach. (B)When he fought against [p]Aram Naharaim, and against Aram [q]Zobah, when Joab returned and slew twelve thousand Edomites in the salt valley.

O God, thou hast cast us out, thou hast [r]scattered us, thou hast been angry, turn again unto us.

Thou hast made the land to tremble, and hast made it to [s]gape: heal the breaches thereof, for it is shaken.

Thou hast [t]showed thy people heavy things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of giddiness.

But now thou hast given [u]a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of thy truth. Selah.

That thy beloved may be delivered, help with thy right hand and hear me.

God hath spoken in his [v]holiness: therefore I will rejoice: I shall divide Shechem, and measure the valley of Succoth.

Gilead shall be mine, and Manasseh shall be mine: Ephraim also shall be the [w]strength of mine head: [x]Judah is my lawgiver.

Moab shall be my [y]washpot: over Edom will I cast out my shoe: [z]Philistia show thyself joyful for me.

Who will lead me into the [aa]strong city? who will bring me unto Edom?

10 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off, and didst not go forth, O God, with our armies?

11 Give us help against trouble: for vain is the help of man.

12 Through God we shall do valiantly; for he shall tread down our enemies.

Psalm 33

33 1 He exhorteth good men to praise God, for that he hath not only created all things, and by his providence governeth the same, but also is faithful in his promises, 10 he understandeth man’s heart, and scattereth the counsel of the wicked, 16 so that no man can be preserved by any creature or man’s strength: by they, that put their confidence in his mercy, shall be preserved from all adversities.

Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for it [a]becometh upright men to be thankful.

Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with viol and [b]instrument of ten strings.

Sing unto him a new song: sing cheerfully with a loud voice.

For the [c]word of the Lord is righteous, and all his [d]works are faithful.

He [e]loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

He [f]gathereth the waters of the sea together as upon an heap, and layeth up the depths in his treasures.

Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all them that dwell in the world, fear him.

For he spake, and it was done: he commanded, and it [g]stood.

10 The Lord breaketh the [h]counsel of the heathen, and bringeth to nought the devices of the people.

11 The counsel of the Lord shall stand forever, and the thoughts of his heart throughout all ages.

12 Blessed is that nation, whose [i]God is the Lord: even the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance.

13 The Lord [j]looketh down from heaven, and beholdeth all the children of men.

14 From the habitation of his dwelling, he beholdeth all them that dwell in the earth.

15 He [k]fashioneth their hearts every one, and understandeth all their works.

16 The [l]King is not saved by the multitude of an host, neither is the mighty man delivered by great strength.

17 A horse is a vain help, and shall not deliver any by his great strength.

18 Behold, [m]the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, and upon them that trust in his mercy,

19 To deliver their souls from death, and to preserve them in famine.

20 [n]Our soul waiteth for the Lord: for he is our help and our shield.

21 Surely our heart shall rejoice in him, because we trusted in his holy Name.

22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we trusted in thee.

Zechariah 4

The vision of the golden candlestick, and the exposition thereof.

And the Angel that talked with me, came again and waked me, as a man that is raised out of his sleep,

And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold, a [a]candlestick all of gold with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps therein, and seven [b]pipes to the lamps which were upon the top thereof,

And two olive trees over it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.

So I answered and spake to the Angel that talked with me, saying, What are these my Lord?

Then the Angel that talked with me, answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my Lord.

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto [c]Zerubbabel, saying, Neither by [d]an army nor strength, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

Who art thou, O [e]great mountain, before Zerubbabel? thou shall be a plain, and [f]he shall bring forth the headstone thereof, with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

Moreover, the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house: his hands shall also finish it, and [g]thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you.

10 For who hath despised the day of the [h]small things? but they shall rejoice, and shall see the stone of [i]tin in the hand of Zerubbabel: [j]these seven are the eyes of the Lord, which go through the whole world.

11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right and upon the left side thereof?

12 And I spake moreover, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches, which through the two golden pipes empty themselves into the gold?

13 And he answered me, and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my Lord.

14 Then said he, These are the two [k]olive branches, that stand with the ruler of the whole earth.

Revelation 4:9-5:5

And when those beasts [a]gave glory, and honor, and thanks to him that sat on the throne, which liveth forever and ever,

10 [b]The four and twenty Elders fell down before him that sat on the throne, and worshipped him that liveth for evermore, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11 [c]Thou art (A)worthy, O Lord, [d]to receive glory, and honor, and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy will’s sake they are, and have been created.

1 The book sealed with seven seals, 3 which none could open. 6 That Lamb of God, 9 is thought worthy to open, 12 even by the consent of all the company of heaven.

[e]And I saw in the [f]right hand of him that sat upon the throne, [g]a book written within, and on the backside sealed with seven seals.

And I saw a strong Angel which preached with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

[h]And no man in heaven nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

Then I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open, and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

[i]And one of the Elders said unto me, Weep not: behold, that (B)[j]Lion which is of the tribe of Judah, that root of David, hath obtained to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

Matthew 25:1-13

25 1 The virgins looking for the Bridegroom. 13 We must watch. 14 The talents delivered unto the servants. 24 The evil servants. 30 After what sort the last judgment shall be. 41 The cursed.

Then [a]the kingdom of heaven shall be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and [b]went forth to meet the bridegroom.

And five of them were wise, and five foolish.

The foolish took their lamps, but took no oil with them.

But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Now while the bridegroom tarried long, all [c]slumbered and slept.

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh: go out to meet him.

Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil, for our lamps are out.

But the wise answered, saying, Not so, lest there will not be enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came: and they that were ready, went in with him to the wedding, and the gate was shut.

11 Afterwards came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered, and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 (A)Watch therefore: for ye know neither the day, nor the hour, when the son of man will come.
