Psalm 148-150

148 1 He provoketh all creatures to praise the Lord in heaven and earth, and all places. 14 Specially his Church, for the power that he hath given to the same, after that he had chosen them and joined them unto him.

Praise ye the Lord.

Praise ye the Lord from the heaven: praise ye him in the high places.

Praise ye him, all ye [a]his Angels: praise him, all his army.

Praise ye him, [b]sun and moon: praise ye him all bright stars.

Praise ye him [c]heavens of heavens, and [d]waters, that be above the heavens.

Let them praise the Name of the Lord: for he commanded, and they were created.

And he hath established them forever and ever: he hath made an ordinance, which shall not pass.

Praise ye the Lord from the earth, ye [e]dragons and all depths:

[f]Fire and hail, snow and vapors, stormy wind, which execute his word.

Mountains and all hills, fruitful trees, and all cedars:

10 Beasts and all cattle, creeping things and feathered fowls:

11 [g]Kings of the earth and all people, princes and all judges of the world:

12 Young men and maidens, also old men and children:

13 Let them praise the Name of the Lord: for his Name only is to be exalted, and his praise above the earth and the heavens.

14 For he hath exalted the [h]horn of his people, which is a praise for all his Saints, even for the [i]children of Israel, a people that is near unto him. Praise ye the Lord.

149 1 An exhortation to the Church to praise the Lord for his victory and conquest, that he giveth his Saints against all man’s power.

Praise ye the Lord.

Sing ye unto the Lord [j]a new song: let his praise be heard in the Congregation of Saints.

Let Israel rejoice in him that [k]made him, and let the children of Zion rejoice in their [l]King.

Let them praise his Name with the flute: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.

For the Lord hath pleasure in his people: he will make the meek glorious by deliverance.

Let the Saints be joyful with glory: let them sing loud upon their [m]beds.

Let the high Acts of God be in their mouth, and a two edged sword in their hands,

[n]To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and corrections among the people:

To bind [o]their kings in chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron,

That they may execute upon them the judgment that is [p]written: this honor shall be to all his Saints. Praise ye the Lord.

150 1 An exhortation to praise the Lord without cease by all manner of ways for all his mighty and wonderful works.

Praise ye the Lord.

Praise ye God in his [q]Sanctuary: praise ye him in the [r]firmament of his power.

Praise ye him in his mighty Acts: praise ye him according to his excellent greatness.

Praise ye him in the sound of the [s]trumpet: praise ye him upon the viol and the harp.

Praise ye him with timbrel and flute: praise ye him with virginals and organs.

Praise ye him with sounding cymbals: praise ye him with high sounding cymbals.

Let everything that hath [t]breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

Psalm 114-115

114 1 How the Israelites were delivered forth of Egypt, and of the wonderful miracles that God wrought at that time. Which put us in remembrance of God’s great mercy toward his Church, who when the course of nature faileth, preserveth his miraculously.

When (A)Israel went out of Egypt, and the house of Jacob from the [a]barbarous people,

Judah was his [b]sanctification, and Israel his dominion.

The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was turned back.

The [c]mountains leaped like rams, and the hills as lambs!

What ailed thee, O sea, that thou fleddest? O Jordan, why wast thou turned back?

Ye mountains why leaped ye like rams, and ye hills as lambs?

The [d]earth trembled at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

Which [e]turneth the rock into waterpools, and the flint into a fountain of water.

115 1 A prayer of the faithful oppressed by idolatrous tyrants, against whom they desire that God would succor them,  9 trusting most constantly that God will preserve them in this their need, seeing, that he hath adopted and received them into his favor. 13 Promising finally that they will not be unmindful of so great a benefit if it would please God to hear their prayer, and deliver them by his omnipotent power.

Not [f]unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy Name give the glory for thy loving mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.

Wherefore shall the heathen say, [g]Where is now their God?

But our God is in heaven: he doeth whatsoever he [h]will.

Their idols are [i]silver and gold, even the work of men’s hands.

They have a mouth, and speak not: they have eyes, and see not.

They have ears, and hear not: they have noses and smell not.

They have [j]hands, and touch not: they have feet, and walk not: neither make they a sound with their throat.

They that make them are [k]like unto them: so are all that trust in them.

O Israel, trust thou in the Lord: for he is their help, and their shield.

10 [l]O house of Aaron trust ye in the Lord, for he is their help, and their shield.

11 Ye that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: for he is their helper, and their shield.

12 The Lord hath been mindful of us, he will bless, he [m]will bless the house of Israel, he will bless the house of Aaron.

13 He will bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great.

14 The Lord will increase his graces toward you, even toward you, and toward your children.

15 Ye are blessed of the Lord, which [n]made the heaven and the earth.

16 The [o]heavens, even the heavens are the Lord’s: but he hath given the earth to the sons of men.

17 The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that [p]go down into the place of silence.

18 But we will praise the Lord from henceforth and forever. Praise ye the Lord.

Amos 6

Against the princes of Israel living in pleasure.

Woe to [a]them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, [b]which were famous at the beginning of the nations: and the house of Israel came to them.

Go you unto Calneh, and see: and from thence go you to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be [c]they better than these kingdoms? or the border of their land greater than your border,

Ye that put far away the [d]evil day, and approach to the seat of iniquity?

They lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their beds, and eat the lambs of the flock, and the calves out of the stall.

They sing to the sound of the viol: they invent to themselves instruments of music like [e]David.

They drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments, but no man is [f]sorry for the affliction of Joseph.

Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and [g]the sorrow of them that stretched themselves, is at hand.

[h]The Lord God hath sworn by himself, saith the Lord God of hosts, I abhor [i]the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.

And if there remain ten men in one house, they shall die.

10 And his uncle [j]shall take him up and burn him, to carry out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him, that is by the [k]sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? And he shall say, None. Then shall he say, [l]Hold thy tongue: for we may not remember the Name of the Lord.

11 For behold, the Lord commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.

12 Shall horses [m]run upon the rock? or will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into [n]wormwood.

13 Yet rejoice in a thing of nought: ye say, Have not we gotten us [o]horns by our own strength?

14 But behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the Lord God of hosts: and they shall afflict you from the entering in of [p]Hamath unto the river of the wilderness.

2 Thessalonians 1:5-12

(A)[a]Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for the which ye also suffer.

[b]For it is a righteous thing with God, to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you,

And to you which are troubled, rest [c]with us, (B)[d]when the Lord Jesus shall show himself from heaven with his mighty Angels,

In flaming fire, rendering vengeance unto them, [e]that do not know God, and which obey not unto the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Which shall be punished with everlasting perdition from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power,

10 When he shall come to be glorified in his Saints, and to be made marvelous in all them that believe ([f]because our testimony toward you was believed) in that day.

11 [g]Wherefore, we also pray always for you, that our God may make you worthy of [h]this calling, and fulfill [i]all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the [j]work of faith with power.

12 That the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Luke 1:57-68

57 [a]Now Elizabeth’s time was fulfilled, that she should be delivered, and she brought forth a son.

58 And her neighbors and cousins heard tell how the Lord had showed his great mercy upon her, and they (A)rejoiced with her.

59 And it was so that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the babe, and called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

60 But his mother answered, and said, Not so, but he shall be called John.

61 And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is named with this name.

62 Then they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

63 So he asked for writing tablets, and wrote, saying, His name is John, and they marveled all.

64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue, [b]and he spake and praised God.

65 Then fear came on all them that dwelt near unto them, and all [c]these words were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judea.

66 And all they that heard them, [d]laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner child shall this be! and the [e]hand of the Lord was with him.

67 [f]Then his father Zacharias was filled with the holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, because he hath [g]visited (B)and [h]redeemed his people,
