95 Come, let’s (A)sing for joy to the Lord,
Let’s shout joyfully to (B)the rock of our salvation.
2 Let’s (C)come before His presence (D)with a song of thanksgiving,
Let’s shout joyfully to Him (E)in songs with instruments.
3 For the Lord is a (F)great God
And a great King (G)above all gods,
4 In whose hand are the (H)depths of the earth,
The peaks of the mountains are also His.
5 [a]The sea is His, for it was He (I)who made it,
And His hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let’s (J)worship and bow down,
Let’s (K)kneel before the Lord our (L)Maker.
7 For He is our God,
And (M)we are the people of His [b](N)pasture and the sheep of His hand.
(O)Today, [c]if you will hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as at [d](P)Meribah,
As on the day of [e](Q)Massah in the wilderness,
9 “When your fathers (R)put Me to the test,
They tested Me, though they had seen My work.
10 For (S)forty years I was disgusted with that generation,
And said they are a people who err in their heart,
And they do not know My ways.
11 Therefore I (T)swore in My anger,
They certainly shall not enter My (U)rest.”
God Sustains His Servant.

40 I (A)waited [a]patiently for the Lord;
And He reached down to me and (B)heard my cry.
2 He brought me up out of the (C)pit of [b]destruction, out of the mud;
And (D)He set my feet on a rock, (E)making my footsteps firm.
3 He put a (F)new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will (G)see and fear
And will trust in the Lord.
4 How (H)blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust,
And (I)has not turned to the [c]proud, nor to those who (J)become involved in falsehood.
5 Many, Lord my God, are (K)the wonders which You have done,
And Your (L)thoughts toward us;
There is no one to compare with You.
If I would declare and speak of them,
They (M)would be too numerous to count.
6 (N)You have not desired [d]sacrifice and meal offering;
You have [e]opened my ears;
You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.
7 Then I said, “Behold, I have come;
It is [f]written of me in the scroll of the book.
8 (O)I delight to do Your will, my God;
(P)Your Law is within my [g]heart.”
9 I have (Q)proclaimed good news of righteousness in the great congregation;
Behold, I will (R)not restrain my lips,
Lord, (S)You know.
10 I have (T)not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;
I have (U)spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
I have not concealed Your mercy and Your truth from the great congregation.
11 You, Lord, will not withhold Your compassion from me;
[h]Your (V)mercy and Your truth will continually watch over me.
12 For evils beyond number have (W)surrounded me;
My (X)guilty deeds have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see;
They are (Y)more numerous than the hairs of my head,
And my (Z)heart has [i]failed me.
13 (AA)Be pleased, Lord, to rescue me;
(AB)Hurry, Lord, to help me.
14 May those be (AC)ashamed and humiliated together
Who (AD)seek my [j]life to destroy it;
May those be turned back and dishonored
Who delight [k]in my hurt.
15 May those (AE)be [l]appalled because of their shame
Who (AF)say to me, “Aha, aha!”
16 (AG)May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
May those who love Your salvation continually (AH)say,
“The Lord be exalted!”

And (F)violent men have (G)sought my [d]life;

A Contrite Sinner’s Prayer for Pardon.

51 (A)Be gracious to me, God, according to Your faithfulness;
According to the greatness of (B)Your compassion, (C)wipe out my wrongdoings.
2 (D)Wash me thoroughly from my guilt
And (E)cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I (F)know my wrongdoings,
And my sin is constantly before me.
4 (G)Against You, You only, I have sinned
And done what is (H)evil in Your sight,
So that (I)You [b]are justified [c]when You speak
And [d]blameless when You judge.
5 Behold, I was (J)brought forth in guilt,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You desire (K)truth in the [e]innermost being,
And in secret You will (L)make wisdom known to me.

16 For You (AF)do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it;
You do not take pleasure in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a (AG)broken spirit;
A broken and a contrite heart, God, You will not despise.
12 “(A)And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to [a]fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and (B)love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with (C)all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to keep the Lord’s commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good? 14 Behold, (D)to the Lord your God belong heaven and the [b]highest heavens, (E)the earth and all that is in it. 15 (F)Yet the Lord set His affection on your fathers, to love them, and He chose their [c]descendants after them, you over all the other peoples, as it is this day. 16 (G)So circumcise [d]your heart, and do not (H)stiffen your neck any longer. 17 (I)For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the (J)Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, (K)who does not show partiality, nor (L)take a bribe. 18 He executes justice for (M)the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the stranger by giving him food and clothing. 19 (N)So show your love for the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. 20 You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him, and (O)cling to Him, and (P)you shall swear by His name. 21 He is (Q)your glory and He is your God, who has done these great and awesome things for you which your eyes have seen. 22 (R)Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons in all, (S)and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven.
11 Therefore let’s make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same (A)example of (B)disobedience. 12 For (C)the word of God is (D)living and (E)active, and sharper than any two-edged (F)sword, even penetrating as far as the division of (G)soul and (H)spirit, of both joints and marrow, and (I)able to [a]judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And (J)there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are (K)open and laid bare to the eyes of Him to whom [b]we must answer.
14 Therefore, since we have a great (L)high priest who has (M)passed through the heavens, Jesus (N)the Son of God, let’s hold firmly to our (O)confession. 15 For we do not have (P)a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been (Q)tempted in all things just as we are, yet (R)without sin. 16 Therefore let’s (S)approach the throne of grace with (T)confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need.
John the Baptist’s Last Testimony
22 After these things Jesus and His (A)disciples came into the land of Judea; and there He was spending time with them and (B)baptizing. 23 Now John also was baptizing in Aenon, near Salim, because there was an abundance of water there; and people were coming and being baptized— 24 for (C)John had not yet been thrown into prison.
25 Then a matter of dispute developed on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about [a](D)purification. 26 And they came to John and said to him, “(E)Rabbi, He who was with you (F)beyond the Jordan, to whom you (G)have testified—behold, He is baptizing and all the people are coming to Him.” 27 John replied, “(H)A person can receive not even one thing unless it (I)has been given to him from heaven. 28 You yourselves [b]are my witnesses that I said, ‘(J)I am not the [c]Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.’ 29 He who has the bride is (K)the groom; but the friend of the groom, who stands and listens to him, rejoices greatly because of the groom’s voice. So this (L)joy of mine has been made full. 30 He must [d]increase, but I must [e]decrease.
31 “(M)He who comes from above is above all; (N)the one who is only from the earth is of the earth and speaks of the earth. (O)He who comes from heaven is above all. 32 What He has seen and heard, of this He (P)testifies; and (Q)no one accepts His testimony. 33 The one who has accepted His testimony (R)has certified that God is true. 34 For He whom God (S)sent speaks the words of God; (T)for He does not give the Spirit [f]sparingly. 35 (U)The Father loves the Son and (V)has entrusted all things to His hand. 36 The one who (W)believes in the Son has eternal life; but the one who (X)does not [g]obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
