97 1 The Prophet exhorteth all to rejoice for the coming of the kingdom of Christ, 7 dreadful to the rebels and idolaters, 8 and joyful to the just, whom he exhorteth to innocency, 12 to rejoicing and thanksgiving.
1 The [a]Lord reigneth: let the earth rejoice: let the [b]multitude of the Isles be glad.
2 [c]Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the foundation of his throne.
3 There shall go a fire before him, and burn up his enemies round about.
4 His lightnings gave light unto the world: the earth saw it and was [d]afraid.
5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
7 [e]Confounded be all they that serve graven images, and that glory in idols: worship him [f]all ye gods.
8 Zion heard of it, and was glad: and the [g]daughters of Judah rejoiced, because of thy judgments, O Lord.
9 For thou, Lord, art most High above all the earth: thou art much exalted above all gods.
10 Ye that [h]love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his Saints: he will deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
11 [i]Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice ye righteous in the Lord, and give thanks for his holy [j]remembrance.
99 1 He commendeth the power, equity, and excellency of the kingdom of God by Christ over the Jews and Gentiles, 5 And provoketh them to magnify the same, and to serve the Lord, 6 following the example of the ancient fathers, Moses, Aaron, Samuel, who calling upon God, were heard in their prayers.
1 The Lord reigneth, let the [a]people tremble: he sitteth between the (A)Cherubims, let the earth be moved.
2 The Lord is great in Zion, and he is high above all the people.
3 They shall [b]praise thy great and fearful Name (for it is holy.)
4 And the King’s power, that loveth judgment: for thou hast prepared equity: thou hast executed judgment and justice in Jacob.
5 Exalt the Lord our God, and fall down before his [c]footstool: for he is holy.
6 Moses and Aaron were among his Priests, [d]and Samuel among such as call upon his Name: these called upon the Lord, and he heard them.
7 He spake unto them in the cloudy pillar: they kept his testimonies, and the Law that he gave them.
8 Thou heardest them, O Lord our God: thou wast a favorable God unto them, though thou didst take vengeance for [e]their inventions.
9 Exalt the Lord our God and fall down before his holy Mountain: for the Lord our God is holy.
100 1 He exhorteth all to serve the Lord, 3 who hath chosen us, and preserved us, 4 and to enter into his assemblies to praise his Name.
A Psalm of praise.
1 Sing [f]ye loud unto the Lord, all the earth.
2 Serve the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyfulness.
3 Know ye that even the Lord is God; he hath [g]made us, and not we ourselves: we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 [h]Enter into his gates with praise, and into his courts with rejoicing: praise him and bless his Name.
5 For the Lord is good: his mercy is [i]everlasting, and his truth is from generation to generation.
94 1 He prayeth unto God against the violence and arrogance of tyrants, 10 warning them of God’s judgments. 12 Then doth he comfort the afflicted by the good issue of their afflictions, as he felt in himself, and did set in others, and by the ruin of the wicked, 23 whom the Lord will destroy.
1 O Lord God [a]the avenger, O God the avenger, show thyself [b]clearly.
2 Exalt thyself, O Judge of the world, and render a reward to the proud.
3 Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked [c]triumph?
4 They prate and speak fiercely: all the workers of iniquity vaunt themselves.
5 They [d]smite down thy people, O Lord, and trouble thine heritage.
6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
7 [e]Yet they say, The Lord shall not see: neither will the God of Jacob regard it.
8 Understand, ye unwise among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9 He that [f]planted the ear, shall he not hear? or he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
10 Or he that chastiseth the [g]nations, shall he not correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall he not know?
11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
12 Blessed is the man whom thou [h]chastisest, O Lord, and teachest him in thy Law,
13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of evil, while the pit is dug for the wicked.
14 Surely the Lord will not fail his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.
15 For [i]judgment shall return to justice, and all the upright in heart shall follow after it.
16 Who will rise up with me against the wicked? or who will take my part against the workers of iniquity?
17 If the Lord had not [j]helped me, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
18 When I said, [k]My foot slideth, thy mercy, O Lord, stayed me.
19 In the multitude of my [l]thoughts in mine heart, thy comforts have rejoiced my soul.
20 Hath the throne of iniquity [m]fellowship with thee, which forgeth wrong for a Law?
21 They gather them together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
22 But the Lord is my refuge, and my God is the rock of mine hope.
23 And he will recompense them their wickedness, and [n]destroy them in their own malice, yea, the Lord our God shall destroy them.
95 1 An earnest exhortation to praise God, 4 for the government of the world and the election of the Church. 8 An admonition not to follow the rebellion of the old fathers, that tempted God in the wilderness. 11 For the which they might not enter into the land of promise.
1 Come, let us rejoice unto the Lord: let us sing [o]aloud unto the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before his face with praise: let us sing loud unto him with Psalms.
3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all [p]gods,
4 In whose hand are the deep places of the earth, and the [q]heights of the mountains are his,
5 To whom the Sea belongeth, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us [r]worship and fall down, and kneel before the Lord our maker.
7 For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his [s]hand: today, if ye will hear his voice,
8 [t]Harden not your heart, as in [u]Meribah, and as in the day of [v]Massah in the wilderness,
9 When your fathers (A)tempted me, proved me, though they had seen my work.
10 Forty years have I contended with this generation, and said, They are a people that [w]err in heart, for they have not known my ways.
11 Wherefore I sware in my wrath, saying, Surely they shall not enter into [x]my rest.
29 And he charged them and said unto them, I am ready to be gathered unto my people: (A)bury me with my fathers in the cave, that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, besides Mamre in the land of Canaan: which cave Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession to bury in.
31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife: there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife: and there I buried Leah.
32 The purchase of the field and the cave that is therein, was bought of the children of Heth.
33 Thus Jacob made an end of giving charge to his sons, and [a]plucked his feet into the bed, and gave up the ghost, and was gathered to his people.
50 1 Jacob is buried. 19 Joseph forgiveth his brethren. 23 He seeth his children’s children. 26 He dieth.
1 Then Joseph fell upon his father’s face and wept upon him, and kissed him.
2 And Joseph commanded his servants the [b]physicians to embalm his father, and the physicians embalmed Israel.
3 So forty days were accomplished (for so long did the days of them that were embalmed last) and the Egyptians bewailed him [c]seventy days.
4 And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spake to the house of Pharaoh, saying, If I have now found favor in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears, of Pharaoh, and say,
5 My father made me (B)swear saying, Lo, I die, bury me in my grave, which I have made me in the land of Canaan: now therefore let me go, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.
6 Then Pharaoh said, Go up and bury thy father, [d]as he made thee to swear.
7 ¶ So Joseph went up to bury his father, and with him went all the servants of Pharaoh, both the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,
8 Likewise all the house of Joseph, and his brethren, and his father’s house: only their children, and their sheep, and their cattle left they in the land of Goshen.
9 And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: and they were an exceeding great company.
10 And they came to [e]Goren Atad, which is beyond Jordan, and there they made a great and exceeding sore lamentation: and he mourned for his father seven days.
11 And when the Canaanites the inhabitants of the land saw the mourning in Goren Atad, they said, This is a great mourning unto the Egyptians: wherefore the name thereof was called [f]Abel Mizraim, which is beyond Jordan.
12 So his sons did unto him, according as he had commanded them:
13 (C)For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which cave (D)Abraham bought with the field, to be a [g]place to bury in, of Ephron the Hittite beside Mamre.
14 ¶ Then Joseph returned into Egypt, he and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after that he had buried his father.
17 ¶ [a]Now in this that I declare, I praise you not, that ye come together, not with profit, but with hurt.
18 [b]For first of all, when ye come together in the Church, I hear that there are dissensions among you: and I believe it to be true in some part.
19 [c]For there must be heresies even among you, that they which are [d]approved among you, might be known.
20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is [e]not to eat the Lord’s Supper.
21 For every man when they should eat, taketh his own supper [f]afore, and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
22 [g]Have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? despise ye the Church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
23 [h]For I have received of the Lord that which I also have delivered unto you, to wit, That the Lord Jesus in the night when he was betrayed, took bread.
24 (A)And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is [i]broken for you: this do ye in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the New Testament in my blood: this do as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye shall eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye show the Lord’s death till he come.
27 [j]Wherefore, whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink the cup of the Lord [k]unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 (B)[l]Let [m]every man therefore examine himself, and so let them eat of this bread, and drink of this cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh his own damnation, because he [n]discerneth not the Lord’s body.
30 [o]For this cause many are weak, and sick among you, and many sleep.
31 For if we would [p]judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, because we should not be condemned with the world.
33 [q]Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
34 [r]And if any man be hungry, let him eat at home, that ye come not together unto condemnation. [s]Other things will I set in order when I come.

1 In (A)those days, when there was a very great multitude, and had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him, and said unto them,
2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with me three days, and have nothing to eat.
3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they would [a]faint by the way: for some of them came from far.
4 Then his disciples answered him, Whence can a man satisfy these with bread here in the wilderness?
5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
6 Then he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, brake them, and gave to his disciples to set before them, and they did set them before the people.
7 They had also a few small fishes: and when he had given thanks, he commanded them also to be set before them,
8 So they did eat, and were sufficed, and they took up of the broken meat that was left, seven baskets full.
9 (And they that had eaten, were about four thousand) so he sent them away.
10 ¶ (B)And anon he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
