Psalm 9

To the Overcomer upon Muthlabben, A Psalm of David.

¶ I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all thy marvellous works.

I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High

because my enemies are turned back; they shall fall and perish at thy presence.

For thou hast accomplished my judgment and my cause; thou didst sit in the throne judging according to righteousness.

Thou hast reprehended the Gentiles, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.

O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and the cities that thou hast destroyed; their memorial is perished with them.

But the LORD shall endure for ever; he has prepared his throne for judgment.

And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall judge the peoples in uprightness.

The LORD also will be a refuge to the humble, a refuge for the time of trouble.

10 And those that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, O LORD, hast not forsaken those that seek thee.

11 ¶ Sing unto the LORD, he who dwells in Zion; declare among the people his doings.

12 When he makes requirement for blood, he remembers them; he does not forget the cry of the humble.

13 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer from those that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:

14 that I may show forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy saving health.

15 The Gentiles are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid their own foot is taken.

16 The LORD is known by the judgment which he has executed; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion (meditate on this for ever). Selah.

17 The wicked shall be put into Sheol, all the Gentiles that forget God.

18 For the humble shall not always be forgotten: the hope of the poor shall not perish for ever.

19 Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the Gentiles be judged in thy sight.

20 Put fear into them, O LORD: that the Gentiles may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

Psalm 15

A Psalm of David.

¶ LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in the mountain of thy holiness?

He that walks in integrity and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart.

He that does not backbite with his tongue nor does evil to his neighbour nor takes up a reproach against his neighbour.

In whose eyes the vile person is not esteemed; but he honours those that fear the LORD. He that swears to his own hurt and does not change.

He that does not put out his money to usury nor takes a bribe against the innocent. He that does these things shall never be moved.

Daniel 4:19-27

19 ¶ Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was silent for almost one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. Then the king spoke and said, Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its interpretation trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, let the dream be to thine enemies, and its interpretation to those that wish thee evil.

20 The tree that thou didst see, which grew and made himself strong, whose height reached unto the heaven and the sight thereof to all the earth;

21 whose leaves were fair and his fruit abundant and in him was food for all, under whom the beasts of the field dwelt, and in whose branches the fowls of the heaven dwelt:

22 it is thou, O king, that grew and made thyself strong; for thy greatness has grown and has reached unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.

23 And regarding that which the king saw, one who was a watchman and holy who came down from heaven and said, Hew the tree down and destroy it; yet leave the stump of its roots in the earth, and with a band of iron and of brass let it remain bound in the green grass of the field, and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field until seven times pass over him:

24 this is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:

25 that they shall drive thee from among men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall feed thee with grass of the field as the oxen, and with the dew of heaven shalt thou be bathed, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou shalt understand that the most High takes rule over the kingdom of men and that he shall give it to whoever he will.

26 And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots in the earth; thy kingdom shall remain sure unto thee, that thou shalt understand that the rule is in the heavens.

27 Therefore, O king, approve my counsel and redeem thy sins with righteousness and thine iniquities with mercies unto the poor: behold the medicine for thy sin.

1 John 3:19-4:6

19 And in this we know that we are of the truth and have our hearts certified before him.

20 ¶ And if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart and knows all things.

21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, then we have confidence in God;

22 and whatsoever we ask, we receive of him because we keep his commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23 ¶ And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he has commanded us.

24 And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And in this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us.

¶ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

In this know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in flesh is of God:

And every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ is come in flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, of which ye have heard that it should come, and that now it is already in the world.

¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.

They are of the world; therefore, they speak of the world, and the world hears them.

We are of God; he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Luke 4:14-30

14 ¶ And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and his fame went out through all the region round about.

15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day and stood up to read.

17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those that are broken,

19 to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister and sat down. And the eyes of all those that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them, Today this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.

22 And all bore him witness and marvelled at the words of grace which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself; whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.

25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land,

26 but unto none of them was Elijah sent, except unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a widow woman.

27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed, except Naaman the Syrian.

28 And all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath

29 and rose up and thrust him out of the city and led him unto the brow of the hill upon which their city was built that they might cast him down headlong.

30 But he, passing through the midst of them, went away.
