One day after they ate and drank at Shiloh, Hannah got up and presented herself before the Lord. It so happened that the priest Eli was sitting in a place of honor beside the doorpost of the Eternal’s congregation tent as Hannah entered. She was heartbroken, and she began to pray to the Eternal One, weeping uncontrollably as she did.

Then Hannah prayed out of her deepest feelings. Hannah: My heart rejoices in the Eternal One; my strength grows strong in the Eternal. My mouth can mock my enemies because I celebrate how You have saved me!

I will raise up a faithful priest who will do what I desire and purpose in My heart and mind. I will build him a secure house, and he will go in and out before My anointed one continually.

As Samuel grew, the Eternal One guided him and none of His words were lost on Samuel.

As Saul turned to leave Samuel, the True God transformed his heart. As a result, all that Samuel had predicted came to pass that day.

David’s oldest brother, Eliab, overheard this conversation and became angry with David. Eliab: Why have you come down here? Who is watching your tiny flock in the wilderness? I’m your brother, and I know you—you’re arrogant, and your heart is evil. You’ve come to watch the battle as if it were just entertainment.

David’s Men: This must be the very day the Eternal One told you about: “Watch! I will give your enemy to you, and you will do whatever you please with him.” David crept forward quietly and moved in so close he was able to cut a corner from Saul’s robe.

Abigail returned to Nabal, who was holding a kingly feast in his house. Nabal’s heart was light because he was very drunk, so Abigail chose not to tell him anything until the next morning.
