Bend Your ear to me and listen to my words, O Eternal One; hear the deep cry of my heart.

But let those who run to You for safety be glad they did; let them break out in joyful song. May You keep them safe— their love for You resounding in their hearts.

You, O Eternal, are the One who lays all good things in the laps of the right-hearted. Your blessings surround them like a shield.

Please, bring the evil actions of these wicked, wicked people to an end! But secure the righteous, For You, righteous God, examine our hearts and minds.

God is my defender; He rescues those who have a pure heart.

Psalm 9

All my heart will give thanks to You, Eternal One. I will tell others about Your amazing works.

For the wicked celebrates the evil cravings of his heart as the greedy curses and rejects the Eternal.

In his heart he has decided, “Nothing will faze me. From generation to generation I will not face trouble.”

The wicked thinks in his heart, “God has forgotten us! He has covered His face and will never notice!”

Look! The wicked approach with bows bent, sneaking around in the shadows, setting their arrows against their bowstrings to pierce everyone whose heart is pure.

The Eternal searches the hearts of those who are good, but He despises all those who can’t get enough of perversion and violence.

Everyone tells lies through sweet-talking lips and speaks from a hollow and deceptive heart.

How long must I agonize, grieving Your absence in my heart every day? How long will You let my enemies win?

But I trust in Your faithful love; my heart leaps at the thought of imminent deliverance by You.

They shall secretly tremble behind closed doors, hearts beating hard within their chests, knowing that God always avenges the upright.

Here is the answer: The one who lives with integrity, does what is right, and speaks honestly with truth from the heart.

The beauty of faith-filled people encompasses me. They are true, and my heart is thrilled beyond measure.

This is a good life—my heart is glad, my soul is full of joy, and my body is at rest. Who could want for more?

Announce that I am free of all the charges against me—only You can see into my heart to know that to be true. Treat me with fairness; look at me with justice.

You have searched me—my heart and soul—awakened me from dreaming and tested me. You’ve found nothing against me. I have resolved not to sin in what I say.

Like clay baking in the sun, their hearts have hardened; arrogance spills from their mouths.

Strangers who have lost heart come fearfully to me from behind their high walls.

The Eternal’s directions are correct, giving satisfaction to the heart. God’s commandments are clear, lending clarity to the eyes.
